The room fell silent. Selina held her cheek, her expression darkening by the second.
She looked Joe in the eye, face expressionless.
So this was her so-called father, huh? Angelica's move had worked—after that slap, Selina could never return to the Morris family. The bridge was burned. Completely.
Joe suddenly felt a wave of unease rising in his chest—an inexplicable panic, like he had just lost something vital. Something slipping through his fingers. Something he couldn't grasp.
But as he looked at Angelica lying in a pool of blood, rage once again overtook reason.
"Miss Clark," Joe said coldly, "you won't get away with assault. The Morris family will make sure Angelica gets justice!"
Angelica sobbed with fake innocence, shaking her head. "Dad, just let it go... it's my fault."
