Chapter 31 - Chapter

At this moment, the silence of the night seemed to engulf the brightly lit room.

Marvin watched Liens, who was approaching him, seemingly trying to discern the purpose of his unusual behavior, while Liens also looked at the frail, white-haired old man before him with a smile.

"Speak, what is your purpose in coming here? Don't try to fob me off with riddles and questions anymore."

"If you truly have questions, you could have waited until tomorrow night's knowledge class to ask me, instead of rashly breaking into my room."

"Under these circumstances, all I have to do is call the guards, and you'll be finished."

Marvin broke the silence first, questioning Liens again.

Hearing Marvin's threat, Liens also put away his smile, his face returning to a cold expression.

This was his true outward demeanor.

Ever since he fell ill, his feelings towards other people had become increasingly indifferent.

If, in the past, Liens's feelings towards other people still carried a slight arrogance of a player towards an NPC,

then now, he saw other people as a flock of lambs waiting to be slaughtered, constantly awaiting the descent of his butcher's knife.

"Hmm, your gaze? It seems you have great hostility towards me."

"What caused it? Did you discover the experiment I performed on you?"

"Never mind… Your intrusion tonight just gave me a reason to demand you from Leinajin."

Marvin asked and answered his own questions.

Although Liens's gaze sent a chill down his spine, the contract gave him enough courage; he still firmly believed that Liens could not harm him.

"So, the changes in my body were caused by teacher's experiment?" Liens said indifferently.

Hearing this, Marvin was first startled, then revealed a surprised expression.

It had been two months, and hearing from Liens that the experiment finally had new progress, how could he not be happy?

"Oh? Your body has changed?"

"Where? Is it emotional apathy? Similar situations seemed to have occurred in previous experiments as well."

"Come, test your mental talent again with the Talent Detection Instrument."

Marvin quickly picked up a crystal ball from a nearby table and placed it in front of Liens, speaking eagerly to Liens.

He didn't care about exposing his secrets in front of Liens, because he no longer planned to let Liens leave.

Liens did not refuse, obediently placing his hand on the crystal ball.

He knew the result would not change.

At noon in reality, which was tomorrow in this instance's time, he had already tested it, and the white light on the crystal ball was still faint, with no other changes.

Indeed, seeing that the light on the crystal ball was still the same as before, Marvin's excited expression became somewhat disheartened.

"Is it not enough time… Yes, it's only been a little over two months; perhaps the mental power increased is too little, causing the instrument to not detect any changes."

Marvin consoled himself.

Meanwhile, Liens, after the test, focused his attention on the notebook placed on the table; he had previously watched Marvin diligently filling something in it from outside the window.

Perhaps it contained Marvin's experimental data or something similar.

As for Marvin, he couldn't be bothered with him anymore… He couldn't kill him, couldn't even hit him; besides letting him be, what else could he do?

Taking advantage of Marvin's contemplation, Liens swiftly grabbed the notebook from the table.

However, this action also startled Marvin.

Marvin shouted at Liens, "What do you want to do!"

Liens ignored Marvin's reprimand and quickly opened the notebook, examining its contents.

Thanks to our teacher Marvin's diligent teaching, Liens was no longer illiterate; he was now a cultured person who could read and write.

Marvin instinctively tried to snatch the notebook back, but Liens dodged him.

With an old man like Marvin's reaction speed, if Liens wanted to, even standing right in front of him, he could prevent Marvin from touching him in the slightest.

Magic flower, Stamina Potion, mental power, Elemental Calendar…

Liens dodged Marvin while quickly reading the contents of the notebook.

Because time was limited, he only checked some of the key terms Marvin had highlighted and words that appeared frequently.

Liens planned to understand the meaning of these terms in detail during the next instance.

For now, he only needed to remember the "table of contents."

After being dodged for a while, Marvin finally realized that Liens was toying with him, and he instantly felt offended.

"You're looking for death," Marvin roared in anger.

Immediately after, he began to softly chant something.

Because the sound was too low, Liens did not hear what Marvin was saying, only noticing his mouth opening and closing.

It was as if he was silently chanting something.

Soon, as Marvin's mouth stopped moving, Liens immediately felt a sharp pain in his head.

The notebook he was examining fell from his hand; he gritted his teeth, holding his head with both hands, silently enduring the intense pain.

His constantly clenched teeth caused his gums to bleed, and his hands, holding his head, had torn the skin on his scalp, as if they were about to penetrate his skull.

Blood flowed down through the gaps in his hair, decorating his ferocious face, making him look like a demon.

Fortunately, the duration of this pain was not long.

As the stinging sensation in his brain disappeared, Liens collapsed to the ground as if exhausted, gasping for breath.

This time, he did not scream, nor did he lose consciousness due to the pain.

Marvin was very surprised to see that Liens did not scream even under the contract's punishment.

He did not directly execute Liens but chose to use the next lower level of "punishment."

After all, Liens was his valuable experimental subject; he did not want Liens to die before confirming that his experiment had failed.

Marvin only wanted to give Liens a profound lesson, to make him understand that he could not resist.

But he did not expect to witness such a strong will from Liens, his experimental subject.

"It seems… this time is up… it's time for the next round."

"Teacher, I hope that next time… we won't meet."

Liens said to Marvin somewhat weakly, his sentences a bit broken, indicating that speaking was difficult for him at the moment.

"What do you mean?"

Hearing this, Marvin felt a bit confused and frowned.

"Heh… nothing," Liens replied with a hint of mockery in his tone.

After speaking, he left the instance and returned to the white space.

White space.

Upon returning here, Liens's feeling of weakness disappeared.

"It really was that old Marvin who was up to mischief."

"But… what kind of experiment was it? Never mind, I should find something if I go through his notes later."

"From the instruments in the room, and my experience watching anime and novels in my previous life, he might be some kind of 'alchemist'."

"So, the Red Potion we drink was made by him? Does Stamina Potion refer to the Red Potion?"

"If that's the case, he most likely conducted experiments by giving me, or even us, drugs through this."

"However, it could also be through food, or even something he secretly did during class."

"These actions shouldn't be difficult for someone of his status."

"After all, this is the Glenbagen Family's Training Camp, and he is of Glenbagen blood."

Liens muttered to himself.

After thinking for a while, Liens decided to continue going to the instance to find answers.
