~Axel's Point of View~
Morning sunlight spilled through the gauzy curtains, stretching golden fingers across the bedspread. My eyes opened slowly, adjusting to the warm light… and there she was.
María José… where she was supposed to be.
She was still asleep, soft features relaxed in the deepest peace. Her dark lashes kissed the tops of her cheeks, and her lips were parted a little, her breathing slow and even. There was something almost sacred about the way she slept. As though the universe had paused time just to paint her like this.
My wife.
A slow smile tugged at the corners of my mouth. Mine.
