Chapter 5 - Walk and rumours

The next morning came softly, light pouring through the windows of Damien's living room as the city of Magnolia began to wake. Inside, Damien was still sprawled across the couch, one arm dangling off the side and the other loosely clutching the edge of a throw pillow.

It would've been a peaceful awakening—if something hadn't slammed into his stomach.

"Ugh—!" Damien shot upright, groaning as he blinked himself awake. Looking down, he found a familiar sight standing proudly on his chest.

A fluffy, white dog stared up at him with big, round eyes, tail wagging like it hadn't just tackled its master out of sleep.

"Dammit, Snow…" Damien muttered, rubbing his stomach. "How many times have I told you not to wake me up like that?"

The dog let out a happy bark, entirely unfazed by his scolding.

Snow had been with Damien for ten years now—a loyal companion he'd raised since he was just a pup. Or, well… something like a pup.

Despite looking like a perfectly normal fluffy dog, Snow was a magic beast—one of the rarer kinds that mimicked regular animals almost perfectly. The only things that set him apart were his absurd physical capabilities and his extended lifespan, which rivaled a human's. To anyone else, he looked like a particularly healthy white dog. To Damien, he was family.

Damien sat up, glancing across the room toward the hallway. His bedroom door stood ajar. Through the opening, he could see the messy sheets and empty bed.

Cana must've already left for the guild.

He sighed. It was a routine he'd gotten used to over the years. More often than not, Damien ended up sleeping on the couch—not because he particularly liked it, but because Cana had more or less claimed his bed as her own.

She'd started sneaking into his room to sleep when she was sixteen and hadn't stopped since. Despite having a perfectly fine dorm room in the girls' quarters, she always ended up here. Damien had long since given up trying to stop her.

He didn't know how to feel about it. If word ever got around that she spent nearly every night at his house, in his bed, she'd have a hard time finding a boyfriend in the future.

Not that it's my problem… he told himself.

But for some reason, the thought of Cana with another guy stirred something unpleasant in his chest. A flash of irritation, buried quickly beneath a scowl.

He shook his head. Forget it.

Deciding to stretch his legs before heading to the guild, Damien grabbed Snow's leash from the wall hook and clipped it to the dog's collar.

"Come on," he said. "Let's take a walk."

Magnolia was already bustling with life. The streets were filled with chatter, laughter, and the clatter of merchants setting up their stalls. Children ran through the streets, and delivery carts rolled past in every direction.

The usual.

As Damien strolled through town, more than a few heads turned his way—mostly women.

"Good morning, Damien~" one woman called from her bakery window, offering him a flirtatious wave and a freshly wrapped pastry.

"Damien, you look amazing today," another said, her face already starting to redden as she fidgeted with the corner of her coat.

He nodded politely, doing his best to ignore the attention.

It was the same thing every time. Damien had lived in Magnolia for sixteen years, and somehow the chaos of it never got boring. The constant energy, the noise, the random magical incidents—it was a lot, but it made the city feel alive.

But this kind of chaos—the lovestruck stares, the constant flirtation—was less charming.

Being ridiculously attractive had its perks, sure, but it also brought a whole new kind of headache.

And the worst part? The guys.

If the women were sighing and blushing, the men were glaring and muttering under their breath like he'd committed a crime just by existing.

Can't win either way, Damien thought, tugging Snow gently back on track as the dog tried to sniff a fruit stand.

Still, Magnolia's charm hadn't worn off. Not even after all these years.

What had worn thin, though, was the way certain guildmates occasionally got a little too excited during missions.

Sometimes, one of them would get overzealous and—boom. Half a street leveled. An entire shop reduced to rubble.

Those were the moments when Damien seriously considered taking a break from being civil and just beating the hell out of them.

Eventually, the walk came to an end. Snow was still full of energy, but Damien had things to do.

He guided Snow back to his house and unclipped the leash. The dog trotted inside happily.

Damien decided not to take Snow to the guild today.

Every time he brought him along, the guild members swarmed the poor dog like he was a celebrity.

Petting, hugging, arguing over who got to feed him treats—he didn't have the patience for that today.

Sorry, Snow, he thought as he closed the door behind them. You're sitting this one out.

Inside the lively walls of the Fairy Tail guild hall, Lucy Heartfilia stepped through the doors and made her way toward the bar. The atmosphere, as always, was bright and chaotic—guildmates bickering, laughing, and sharing breakfast over half-finished mission reports and spilt drinks.

Lucy greeted a few familiar faces before settling onto a stool in front of the bar where Mirajane stood, wiping down a mug with her usual warm smile.

"So… when are Natsu and Erza going to fight?" Lucy asked, resting her elbows on the bar and raising an eyebrow.

Mirajane chuckled. "Erza hasn't come in yet, so we'll have to wait a little while longer."

Lucy sighed dramatically. "Of course… she always makes a grand entrance anyway."

"Oh!" Mirajane suddenly perked up, placing the mug aside. "I almost forgot—Damien came back to town yesterday."

Lucy's eyes widened. "Wait… Damien Voss? That Damien?"

Mirajane nodded. "Mhm. He should be showing up here at the guild any minute now."

Lucy's heart skipped.

Damien Voss… he's really back?

She had heard all the stories, of course. The powerful, stoic mage with a sharp tongue and unmatched magic. A man who had made a name for himself with overwhelming strength—but also unintentionally became a sensation when some of his modeling photos with Mirajane were leaked.

Despite being fully clothed in every one of them, the sheer definition of his physique combined with his intense eyes had caused quite the stir—especially among certain fans.

Lucy included.

She would never admit it out loud, but she had a signed copy of a magazine he'd been featured in hidden in her drawer back at home.

Mirajane gave her a knowing look.

"Lucy," she said gently. "I wouldn't get too excited."

Lucy's starry eyes dimmed slightly. "Huh? Why not?"

"Damien's… not really friendly with strangers. He doesn't hate people, but he keeps to himself. A lot."

Lucy leaned in slightly, curious.

"It took him a long time just to open up to the guild," Mira continued. "Even now, he's only really close with a few of us. He doesn't think of Fairy Tail like Natsu or Erza do. To them, this is family."

She paused, her smile fading into something more reflective.

"But Damien? He just calls us friends."

Hearing that, Lucy's enthusiasm cooled. She sat back in her seat, thoughtful.

There was something off about that. Something that didn't quite fit with the warm, chaotic, deeply bonded guild she'd come to love.

"I've heard rumors…" she thought slowly. "That there was a guy in Fairy Tail—super strong—but never quite fit in with the rest. Always butting heads with the guild master, keeping his distance. I didn't know they were talking about him."

"And I heard he has a team too,"

Even if it's all true, she told herself, it's fine. The strongest team in Fairy Tail could handle him if he caused trouble.

She smiled, reassuring herself.

…Completely unaware that the team she was thinking of—hers—was nowhere near the strongest thing in Fairy Tail

And the fact she was describing someone else in her thoughts

(Hey guys, I know you're probably tired of these kinds of announcements—me saying I want to start a new project, and then either doing it or (more often than not) not following through.

What can I say? I've got too many ideas and not enough time… and yeah, I'm lazy too.

But this one's different.

This isn't about starting something new—it's about bringing something back. I'm seriously considering returning to a fanfiction I created a while ago, before the Rogue Sun in DC project. I'm sure at least a few of you who've stuck with me will remember it.

I honestly loved the concept, but at the time, it was just too big for me to handle, so I deleted it. The idea was massive.

Now, before I tell you the title, don't judge it by the name alone—please read the description first.

The fanfic was called "reincarnated in a Strange MHA-Based World."

The premise? It's a reincarnation story set in a world where every fictional character from anime, video games, movies, and comics all coexist. But the foundation—the backbone of this shared universe—is My Hero Academia. That means the main power system is quirks, but there's also Haki from One Piece mixed in.

I really want to revisit that idea. It had some genuinely great concepts.

Also there will be no OP characters in if a character is OP in the original series then they will not be OP in this one

So tell me—what do you think? Would you want to see this story come back?)
