Early the next morning, Fushimi Roku woke up early, washed up, and left the house to see Minamoto Tamako giving Sakurako Taira detailed instructions not to open the door to strangers and to heat up rice balls or bento if she got hungry.
Fushimi Roku thought she was worrying unnecessarily. Sakurako Taira had her own little savings and could order delivery if hungry, possibly eating better than the two of them. Besides, Senior Kazama was next door; if Sakurako needed anything, she could call him anytime. Nothing could go wrong.
The two of them tidied up, donned the typical three-piece detective coat set, and Minamoto Tamako wore big sunglasses as they swaggered out the door.
Yazaki Momo called, and the three of them met at the railroad crossing at the end of Sugamo Street, taking the train up the mountain together. Fushimi Roku didn't feel like walking and casually asked, "As a reporter, don't you have a car?"
