This aversion towards Qin Huai is understandable to Zheng Da, as he believes his skills are no worse than Huang Shengli's, and his talent might even be slightly better. He is determined to become a master chef at the state-owned restaurant. However, since he is a pastry chef, and pastry chefs were not valued as highly as meat chefs at that time, he was unable to attain the position of master chef at the state-owned restaurant.
Zheng Da harbors resentment. He likes and excels at difficult and niche snacks, such as Crab Dumplings, Crab Cake, and lotus cake.
