Chapter 19 - 19. Mew

Although this will end everything, I will lose both experience and rewards.

However, to hide myself, this is safer."

Eddie just finished off two members of Team Rocket and quickly hid them in the bushes.

He didn't plan to fight them one by one.

I think Team Rocket would do the same.

If he defeated them openly, they would shoot arrows, and thousands of reinforcements would come to meet him.

Then Eddie would have to run away.

"However, I just paid attention to the suffix on the mission.

It turns out that this is the number of enemies."

Eddie looked at the panel, where the information for the hidden mission was written:

Stage 1: Help Mew get rid of the search team's pursuit (2/20).

"Very good, I'll kill two of them, and things will change here.

So, there are 18 enemies left.

According to the information they revealed, there are 17 junior trainers and 1 intermediate trainer."

"If they are willing to fight one-on-one, I believe I can definitely deal with them, but unfortunately, they will definitely not do so. Alas, we can only do it one by one."

Eddie took off the uniform of one of them and put on the black top. The intention was self-evident.

"Huh? Is this a communicator? Wow, I don't even need to find them."

Eddie originally wanted to find the other party one by one, but now it seemed unnecessary. With this communicator, a lot of effort could be saved.

·····

"Damn! You are not a friendly army! Ekans, [Poison Barb]!"

"I actually let you release a Pokémon, but you're still a step late!"

"Froakie, [Lick]! Charmeleon, cover its mouth with [Scratch]."

After a while, Ekans fell, and the member of Team Rocket also collapsed.

Eddie was staring at Froakie, worried that Froakie would make a noise.

"Ding! You defeated a Team Rocket member and got 500 Pokédollars and 1 Ultra Ball."

But fortunately, Froakie did not change after defeating Ekans.

And Froakie looked at Eddie innocently, as if to say: What are you looking at? Is there something on my face?

"I'm afraid you will evolve suddenly. You are already level 15. If you upgrade, I can only press the B button. After all, evolution will make a lot of noise and will definitely attract the attention of other Team Rocket members."

"Fortunately, the experience from this Ekans is not enough for you to level up. Hurry up and clean it up and find the next one."

While Eddie was talking, Charmeleon had already dragged the poor member who was left alone into the bushes very consciously. His movements were very smooth, as if he had done it many times and was very skilled.

"I killed so many of these idiots with the same method. I'm a bit impressed. Let me see how many are left."

Stage 1 Mission: Help Mew get rid of the search team's tracking (12/20).

Eddie looked at the completion of this mission and smiled with satisfaction.

He had just been using the communicator to lure nearby Team Rocket members, reporting that he had encountered a legendary Pokémon and asking for backup.

Then, this group of trainers came one after another to meet their fate, and every time Eddie didn't let them have the opportunity to release Pokémon, he would ambush or freeze them before finishing them off.

In just half an hour, Eddie eliminated 10 Team Rocket members.

"There are still eight left. To be safe, I'll continue to use this method to deal with them."

Eddie put away the panel and prepared to change his location to continue luring and ambushing the others. The location had to be changed each time, just in case.

"Mew? Mew!"

Accompanied by the adorable growl of a small Pokémon, Eddie's steps froze.

He turned silently toward the source of the sound.

A Pokémon less than a meter tall and incredibly cute appeared out of nowhere.

It had a pale pink, almost pure white body, a long tail swinging back and forth in the air, and a pair of small, baby-like hands. Overall, it resembled a tiny, adorable creature that could melt the hearts of children everywhere.

"It's really Mew. I didn't go looking for you, but you came to me."

Eddie looked at Mew floating in the air before him, but he wasn't particularly surprised. After all, this Pokémon was known to be lively and often appeared wherever it pleased. He pulled out his Pokédex and pointed it at Mew.

Name: Mew

Type: Psychic

Ability: Synchronize

Level: 110 (Mythical Pokémon)

"A level 110 Mythical Pokémon, but why do you look so happy?"

Eddie wasn't surprised to see Mew, but he couldn't understand why Mew appeared so joyful.

The power of the Viridian Forest within Eddie constantly conveyed Mew's emotions to him—an overwhelming sense of happiness. According to this power, Mew felt as though it had finally found what it was waiting for.

"Are you waiting for me? Why?"

Eddie frowned, confused.

"Mew~~~"

Mew seemed overly excited, flying back and forth through the air.

Eddie looked at the cheerful Mew and couldn't help but smile. Even though he didn't understand the reason behind its joy, it didn't seem like a bad thing.

And Mew was so irresistibly cute that, despite being Genderless, Eddie couldn't help but adore it.

However, the peaceful moment between Eddie and the Mythical Pokémon was short-lived. The harmony was shattered by the arrival of unwanted guests.

"I came over because I heard a noise. I've caught a big one this time! Notify the captain immediately!"

"Roger that. Reporting to the captain! This is Group C—we've found Mew!"

Two Team Rocket members emerged from the distance. One was speaking into a communicator, while the other steadily approached Eddie and Mew.

"Hey, kid! Get out of here and hand over Mew!"

The approaching Team Rocket member glared at Eddie menacingly.

Eddie, unfazed by the Rocket grunt's threats, turned to Mew.

Mew stopped its joyful flying and moved directly behind Eddie, peeking over his shoulder with its large, innocent eyes.

"I understand what you mean without needing the Viridian power. Fine, I'll deal with them. This is part of my mission, anyway."

Eddie sighed and looked at Mew's hopeful expression, knowing he couldn't refuse.

"After taking care of these two, there'll only be six left. Besides, with Mew by my side, I can guarantee my safety. There's no need to keep hiding."

Eddie decided to abandon his guerrilla tactics. The enemy had already called for reinforcements, and with Mew's presence, he felt unstoppable.

"Charmeleon, [Fire Blast]!"
