Chapter 283: Masked Man
The three people and one pig were placed in a two-story small building, with heavily guarded Iwagakure ninja outside. Fortunately, they still had the cover of being Konoha envoys, so Iwagakure did not deploy a barrier squad.
"What a buzzkill, my luck has never been good when I'm with Teacher. Back in the village, I was the kind of person who could find money on the street!" Ino looked at Tsunade with the expression one would use for an unlucky person, then asked Shizune beside her, "Senior apprentice-sister, have you ever seen anyone with worse luck than Teacher?"
This kind of teasing between them wasn't new. At this moment, Shizune furrowed her brow in thought, as if seriously considering it: "Oh my, now that you mention it, I realize I've never seen anyone more unlucky than Lady Tsunade, hahahaha—"
"Yeah, yeah, hahahaha—"
"Oink oink!"
They all laughed so hard they snorted like pigs. Tsunade just pouted, muttering a few phrases like "I just have bad luck sometimes" and "If I went to the casino today with such bad luck, I'd definitely win it all back."
Ino walked to the door and beckoned to Kurotsuchi: "Little sister, got any wine? Bring us ten bottles first, and while you're at it, prepare some food for us, I'm a little hungry."
Kurotsuchi didn't think much of it and agreed with a couple of "oh ohs." Only after taking three steps did she feel something was wrong. On what grounds are you ordering me around? Who do you think you are!
Dissatisfied in her heart, her body was still very obedient.
Remembering the Third Tsuchikage's instructions, she ordered the ninjas to serve Tsunade and the others wine and food.
Not even five minutes after they started drinking, Ino asked for musical instruments, saying they wanted to hold a "dark music concert."
Tsunade, as a princess of the Senju clan, was raised by the multi-talented Second Hokage and knew how to play instruments.
Shizune had a bit of a liberal arts student vibe; she wasn't good at fighting, but when it came to something refined, she usually knew how.
The instruments were brought to them. Ino played the flute, Tsunade played the shakuhachi, and Shizune played the shamisen. They began their "dark music concert."
The piece was "Bink's Sake," which Ino had sung twice before.
This song could be said to have a somber melody, with its music containing a power like raging waves. If one savored it carefully, one could almost hear the sound of seawater crashing against reefs. Ino's singing was filled with longing for her hometown and sorrow for deceased relatives.
Accompanied by the singing, the Iwagakure ninjas seemed to have also taken a trip out to sea. They piloted giant ships, seeking peace amidst life-and-death struggles, attempting to reach the other shore through hardships and obstacles!
Kurotsuchi was already in a terrible mood. Hearing this song now, she felt as if her entire family had died. She couldn't help but step away from the small two-story building.
Akatsuchi was simple, not foolish; he still possessed human emotions. After listening to less than a third of it, he cried, crying like a three-hundred-pound child.
Ino and the others, under the cover of the "dark music concert," began to discuss their next course of action.
"I heard those Iwagakure Anbu mention some Lord Han. He's their jinchuriki, right? Is he?" Ino asked.
Her impression of Iwagakure's jinchuriki was vague, far less distinct than the memories of the One-Tail, Two-Tails, Eight-Tails, and Nine-Tails. For a moment, she couldn't figure out who this Lord Han was.
Tsunade was clear on this. She said, "Han should be the jinchuriki of the Five-Tails, Kokuo. As for this Five-Tails..."
She scratched her face. She hadn't been on a battlefield for over a decade; she didn't have much of an impression of the specifics!
Fortunately, Shizune was very reliable. The fair-legged senior apprentice-sister, as if reciting from a book, recounted the public information about the Five-Tails Kokuo and Han in a low voice: "I've heard that Han is a jounin who uses the Boil Release Kekkei Genkai. The Five-Tails Kokuo is a beast that looks like a horse. I don't know any more than that."
A horse-like tailed beast? Ino really couldn't find much information in her memory. This tailed beast was probably very weak, so weak that the Akatsuki members could capture it while picking their feet.
Ino was familiar with the One-Tail, Two-Tails, Three-Tails, Eight-Tails, and Nine-Tails. She had only met Fu, the jinchuriki of the Seven-Tails, after transmigrating.
The Four-Tails, Five-Tails, and Six-Tails were blanks in her knowledge.
She asked, "Then where are the Four-Tails and Six-Tails? Do they also have jinchuriki?"
Shizune said uncertainly, "I heard that the Four-Tails jinchuriki disagreed with many of the Third Tsuchikage's practices and left Iwagakure a long time ago. The Six-Tails... the Six-Tails should be a ninja from Kirigakure. I'm not sure if there's a jinchuriki."
As they were speaking, violent explosions came from the foot of the distant mountain. Every few seconds, the earth would tremble twice.
Ino, using the method taught by the Second Hokage, pressed her right index and middle fingers together and lightly tapped the ground, using the subtle vibrations of the earth for ultra-long-range chakra perception.
She gave the two a live broadcast: "Mm... the battle is very fierce. I'm very familiar with one side, it should be Kitsuchi. The other side... hmm, their chakra is indeed abundant, it seems to be the Five-Tails jinchuriki. This fellow...?"
"What problem did you find?" Tsunade asked in a low voice.
Ino carefully identified it for a while: "...I think we're in trouble. If the several external characteristics the Second Hokage taught me are correct, I think this Five-Tails jinchuriki seems to be controlled by the Sharingan."
The three looked at each other. Even without the Byakugan's ability to observe chakra pathways in depth, Ino, relying on the external characteristics summarized by the Second Hokage, could make a judgment with seven or eight tenths accuracy. The Second Hokage was simply too knowledgeable about the Sharingan.
The three of them were a bit dumbfounded. Now the mud had fallen into their pants; it was hard to explain!
Which village's Kekkei Genkai was the Sharingan? You say all those with Sharingan defected? You can't say that; Kakashi and Sasuke are still in the village.
Say this was done by ninjas from our village? Wouldn't that be taking the blame on one's own initiative?
Tsunade gritted her back teeth: "It must have been done by that masked man who calls himself Madara Uchiha."
"Wow, you guys are so smart, you deserve praise. Too bad there's no reward." Obito, wearing a mask and a black robe with red clouds, stepped out of the air, looking at them as if he were a neighbor dropping by.
The big boss actually came out! Ino stared intently at him.
Obito wore an orange spiral mask. Through the black hole at the center of the spiral, a faint, alluring red light could be seen. Even Shizune could tell it was a Sharingan with tomoe.
His Sharingan state was very strange. Sasuke and Itachi usually looked no different from ordinary people, with normal eyes, only activating the Sharingan when needed and deactivating it when not. But this person before them always had his Sharingan active.
Was it to suppress the Hashirama cells? Or was it that if Kakashi's wasn't deactivated, his couldn't be? Or perhaps Kakashi's inability to deactivate his Sharingan was also related to him?
Ino carefully sized up this mastermind.
Obito's left eye socket should also contain a stolen Sharingan. He hadn't gone to Kakashi to retrieve his own eye for so long, partly due to sentiment, and partly, most likely, because he was always prepared to use Izanagi and planned to install the Rinnegan in the future. This fellow, it had to be said, was quite a thinker.
