A month passed in the blink of an eye.
On Mount Myōboku, the fruit atop the massive Divine Tree glowed with an even deeper crimson, so bright and vivid now that a curled-up, fetus-like shadow was visible within it.
Like a diligent gardener, Ōtsutsuki Kaguya either sat beside the fruit, nourishing the soul within, or moved around the area laying down all manner of barriers to guard against any unforeseen accidents.
Boom, boom...
The Divine Tree began to tremble. The surrounding trees started to wither.
Death spread outward from the base of the tree like a wave, life force being drained from every living thing nearby.
Within seconds, all of Mount Myōboku looked as if it had been struck by the end of days—barren, lifeless, and desolate.
But the trembling didn't stop.
The enormous roots of the Divine Tree tore free from the ground, and the glowing fruit began to consume the entire tree.
In mere moments, the vast tree was absorbed completely into the fruit.
...
Suddenly, a pair of hands burst forth from within.
Danzo emerged, tearing through the wall of the fruit with raw strength.
He looked down at his hands.
This body... was it still human? Or was it more like a Tailed Beast or the Divine Tree itself?
Well, whatever it was, as long as it was powerful, he didn't care.
It was definitely a level above his previous body.
But... why were the hands so small?
Before he could even process the thought, he was swept into a lavish embrace—wrapped tightly in luxurious robes.
"Wait—let me grow first! Why am I in a child's body? Let go... not so tight..."
He pressed helplessly against Kaguya's chest, trying to push her away.
For the first time, Danzo realized—too big could also be a problem.
His arms sank into the softness, unable to resist, only getting hugged tighter.
Kaguya nuzzled his head with her chin, her expression filled with doting affection.
"This is perfect. So cute. Be good, don't struggle."
After a while, she finally released his head from her bosom.
"You did that on purpose, didn't you?" Danzo glared up at her, his small hands braced against her collarbone, legs still buried deep in her embrace—but thankfully with some footing.
He tried to maintain eye contact as best he could.
This child-sized body... she had to have done this on purpose.
"So cute," Kaguya said, leaning in even closer, pressing her face to his.
Danzo was speechless. He felt like a kitten being rubbed.
His face was full of resistance as he used his hands to push her face away.
"Seriously? Are you done yet?" he muttered, then took the opportunity to slip out of her grasp.
His body rapidly matured, quickly growing back into his usual appearance.
A flowing white robe draped over him.
Seeing the faint look of disappointment on Kaguya's face, Danzo couldn't help but feel a little exasperated.
"What kind of face is that?"
"Grown-ups just aren't as cute anymore," she murmured, then floated forward again and pulled him back into her arms.
After a while, Danzo gently pushed her back by the shoulders, looking her straight in the eyes.
"Alright. We need to return to the shinobi world."
"What for?" Kaguya tilted her head, puzzled. "This place is fine."
Danzo looked around at the barren wasteland. Fine? Really?
"You're not still thinking about those women, are you? With your current body... they can't even bear your children anymore."
The seriousness on her face as she said that left Danzo at a loss for words.
"If you think this place is too empty, we could always capture some people to bring here."
Still seeing no response from him, Kaguya hesitated, then softly added,
"If you're thinking about that child of yours, you could bring the mother and child here too."
Looking into Kaguya's eyes, Danzo could sense the hesitation and uncertainty within her.
He pulled her into his arms without hesitation.
His soul's presence radiated from his body—embracing her with the same ease and familiarity she had shown him before.
"We'll be together until the end of our lives. I'll protect you."
Kaguya could feel it clearly—his conviction, his sincerity.
The unease in her heart slowly began to settle.
Then suddenly, she looked up at him.
"What kind of indecent thoughts are you having?" she asked, shoving Danzo away with one quick push and slipping out of his arms.
She folded her hands in front of her stomach, regaining that noble, distant demeanor.
Danzo stared at her, stunned.
That shift in attitude—
Was this really the same woman who just moments ago had wanted to melt into him?
"If you're feeling lustful," she said coldly, "go find one of your other women."
With that, she opened a rift in space and disappeared into it, heading back to the shinobi world.
Leaving Danzo alone in the wasteland, dumbfounded.
What the hell just happened?
That woman changed faces faster than the worst of playboys. Toying with people's emotions...
As irritation welled up inside him, Danzo vanished from the wasteland as well.
...
He had originally planned to return to Konoha, but after some thought, he changed his mind and headed for the Land of Wind.
These days, the Land of Wind was under Federal control and had become a provincial territory.
The highest governing official was still the former Daimyō.
Inside the palace, after a crescendo of moans, silence finally returned.
Danzo sat cross-legged, gently stroking the flushed back of Yuhi Kurenai, who lay against his chest.
Behind him, a now-awake Ichikawa Naomi wrapped her arms around his waist, nuzzling affectionately against him.
"Alright, if you're tired, just rest a bit," he said, pulling her forward into his arms, teasing her full figure as she settled in.
But Naomi wasn't ready to stop. Danzo didn't bother restraining her.
With his current body, his physical strength truly was abnormal.
Honestly, he was starting to feel less and less human.
Yet, despite that, indulging in these primal desires... still couldn't compare to the spiritual connection he'd shared with Kaguya.
But even so, this made him feel more grounded—more human.
Ōtsutsuki Hagoromo, Ōtsutsuki Kaguya... beings who had lived for a thousand years—they weren't exactly what he'd call sane.
He feared that one day, he too might lose himself in time, becoming numb and extreme.
Luckily... he still had passion. Still had reactions.
As he lowered his head and saw Kurenai joining in with licks of her own, a ripple stirred in his heart once again.
