Chapter 148 - The Station Part 7

When everyone turned around, they looked at Glenn with strange expressions. Jason couldn't help but stand still for a few seconds; he didn't expect Glenn to yell so soon after learning the truth about the Wolves and what they had found inside the building.

"This is not the time to talk. Load all these things up and let's get out of here as soon as possible."

He didn't want to keep wasting time in that place; the Wolves could be nearby and the Walkers were still a troublesome problem. After Glenn realized his mistake, he wanted to say something, but Jason told him everything was fine.

It was already late when the three buses and the modified RV were loaded with supplies, tools, and materials to reinforce these vehicles. Ravi was stable; there wasn't much that could be done at that moment except to wait for his slow recovery.

According to Billy Fisher, this man might not last much longer, so it was necessary to return to the refuge and wait for everyone to find out about the misfortunes they had suffered.

Seeing the sky beginning to darken, everyone wasted no more time and headed toward Shirewilt Estates.

What Jason's group—and Jason himself—did not notice was that several people with a "W" carved into their foreheads appeared just a few minutes after the convoy departed. A tall, thin man with long hair said, "We need to head in that direction. Those people might be from the same group we eliminated a few days ago. Those bastards dared to kill so many of our group; we have to avenge our fallen brothers."

"What will we do now?"

The tall man pointed to the ground, and everyone looked at the corpses; some were missing limbs, and others had their heads completely destroyed by high-caliber bullets.

"They will pay for what they've done!"

After saying that, the man walked away to make preparations.

...

It was already nighttime when Jason and his group returned to the Shirewilt Estates community. A group of people outside surrounded the large convoy, but when they saw Merle being carried injured and then Ravi, everyone was stunned.

Ravi Kapoor's wife had been eagerly waiting for her husband's arrival for a long time. But seeing her husband unconscious, she quickly approached the stretcher. Looking at her husband's emaciated state, she ran to Jason and asked, "What happened? Why is Ravi hurt?"

Jason couldn't find words of comfort in that situation, so he spoke directly to Ravi's wife. She looked again at her husband and immediately froze. Ravi's eyes were closed at that moment, and she instantly thought all chances of recovery were gone.

"No, this can't be happening..."

Without wasting more time outside, Ravi was taken to his home under Bob's care. Jason apologized sincerely. This was something that could happen at any time, and more frequently in the future, so if she wasn't mentally prepared now, it would become a problem later.

At that moment, Jason felt someone grab his shoulder, and when he turned around, he saw Maggie looking at him with a calm expression.

She didn't speak, only conveyed that Jason didn't need to apologize for something that wasn't his fault, then took Ravi's wife's hand. They walked toward her house.

Jason understood that everyone in the group knew they didn't blame him, but this was also the first time he had suffered a loss in his group during an outing. He didn't like this feeling. What would happen next to the other members of his group?

Walking beside Elias, who had stayed behind to reinforce security in the woods, Aidon said to them, "Elias, we need to stay alert for what's happening around. I need eyes, and for everyone to take turns watching. I'm sure we didn't finish off all the Wolves."

Elias, who was aware of what had happened, nodded and said, "Understood, sir!"

"For now, we also need to gather some helpers. All we have to do right now is reinforce the buses in their most exposed spots and start loading their things onto the bus that came with our group. Although the Wolves lost many people, judging by what they're capable of, the enemy may still have more than forty people."

What must be known is that most of the Wolves are lunatic cannibals, and it's hard to understand their behavior through common sense. Jason doesn't want more accidents. Actually, now he just wants to leave this place as soon as possible, but the state of Ravi and what the others think must be taken into account.

Although everyone agreed to leave this place, the safety of each person must be guaranteed.

...

That same night, while Jason's group was organizing the entire community, Maggie went to Ravi's house with his wife.

Maggie sat beside Ravi's wife as she looked at her husband in bed. Bob had gone to support the group to reinforce security some time ago.

"I must admit your husband is truly very brave and willing to do anything to lead these people who chose him to a better future."

Ravi's wife shook her head, looked at Maggie, and then said, "Honey, when you reach my age, you'll understand that the safety of others doesn't matter if those close to you are dying. I don't care what happens to others; right now, I care about what will happen to my husband."

Maggie's expression didn't change, but she still forced a smile and said, "I want to explain what happened; I hope you can understand this isn't anyone's fault in our group."

Seeing that the lady didn't speak, Maggie didn't mind and continued explaining.

"Everything was fine on our trip, but the same group that attacked this group tried to assassinate us. That group had the W on their foreheads."

Upon hearing this, Ravi's wife's face changed slightly, but she still didn't speak.

"This group attacked us without warning. At that moment, while Jason and your husband were walking toward the factory, people appeared from all directions. It all happened very fast. Although we hurried to counterattack, Merle and your husband were injured."

"If it's any consolation, all the enemies who attacked us were killed without exception. I'm not saying this to shirk responsibility; everything possible is being done for your husband's recovery, and we've done all we could."

After hearing Maggie's words, Ravi's wife remained silent for a long time. She actually understood this wasn't anyone's fault. Jason's group brought a future attached to everyone here, but a part of her blamed Jason for taking her husband outside the refuge.

After finishing speaking, Maggie was about to get up and leave, but suddenly she heard Ravi's weak voice coming from the room. The door opened and people began to enter.

Ravi looked around at the people with a pale face, opening and closing the corners of his mouth as if he wanted to say something, but he was too weak and couldn't make any sound after opening his mouth in the middle of the night.

Suddenly, Maggie thought of something and quickly said, "A pen!"

Ravi's wife hurried to the house to fetch a pen, and after a while, she came back with paper and a pen. Ravi's hand, holding the pen, trembled, but he couldn't hold on any longer, and when he closed his eyes, he fainted again.

"Honey!"

Seeing this, she burst into tears instantly. Looking at her husband in bed, she had no idea what to do next.
