Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: Asking MEI for Ways to Kill

The system had informed Chen Ran that none of his items from reality could be brought into the simulation scenario.

However, the physical body he had grown in reality could be re-simulated and corrected.

But relying on physical strength to counter that killer would be incredibly difficult. After all, in terms of combat power, the difference between that killer and him was about the same as between a person and a cat.

Unless he became a MANTIS, it would be hard to deal with.

Not to mention, not every MANTIS was named Kevin; some could become Pardo.

Chen Ran wasn't foolish; he naturally understood that relying on physical strength probably wouldn't clear the scenario. The solution might lie in the hour before death.

He could only rely on his wits.

But he didn't know the wisdom of killing.

"Perhaps I can use a potion."

Chen Ran's eyes narrowed slightly.

In the field of biology, there are many substances that can cause immediate death. Among them, the fastest is a potion that directly fibroses tissue cells.

For example, the infamous paraquat.

No matter how powerful a person is, even with Honkai Energy, fibrosis itself is irreversible. Just like you can't turn a boiled chicken heart back into a living one.

However, if he simply used poison, he feared he wouldn't even get close to the killer before dying.

Clearly, in 2014, the Ocean Branch had already been targeted by World Serpent, with the goal being the Gem of Desire.

But World Serpent didn't choose to steal it outright; perhaps at that time, they judged that they couldn't directly confront Schicksal. So they resorted to this tactic.

The Divine Authority Project could potentially succeed; the Ocean Branch wasn't completely useless.

But World Serpent, by supporting Anti-Entropy Cocolia and meddling in the Ocean Branch, caused the plan to fail. This way, the Gem of Desire could be released, and Schicksal would focus its fire on Anti-Entropy, allowing World Serpent to withdraw.

In this way, World Serpent also achieved an important goal: to free Kevin from the Sea of Quanta.

However, since this was a simulation scenario, he naturally had to be the first to complete the objective; as for World Serpent's goals, that wasn't his concern.

What he needed to consider now was how to escape from the killer and even counterattack.

This was a technical task.

So, he needed to consult a professional.

The workload at the First Research Institute wasn't too intense for the time being. Until the appearance of the 3rd Herrscher, although Honkai affected the vast majority of people, Fire Moth's response was timely.

Mobius was focused on researching the evolution of life levels, with Blanca participating as her assistant.

Chen Ran was also assigned a task, which was to improve the biological agents currently used by Fire Moth. This wasn't too difficult for his biological knowledge; the challenge was how to combine biological knowledge with Honkai.

In his view, enhancing the physical strength of Fire Moth's warriors and increasing muscle gain was short-lived and limited; it would be better to consider increasing Honkai Energy adaptability.

However, the matter of the simulation scenario kept Chen Ran from settling down to do this.

Although he had a direction for improvement, he lacked motivation.

It was like an author having a novel outline but unwilling to write.

Human concentration is limited, especially since Chen Ran was an ordinary person. With his mind focused on the simulation scenario, he naturally wouldn't fully commit to his primary work.

But this wouldn't do.

This wasn't a corporate job where the boss would turn a blind eye during slack time.

He looked over at MEI, who was conducting biological experiments at an independent workstation not far from him, and walked over.

"Um, cough, Dr. MEI."

Although Chen Ran was bold, he didn't dare to call her 'sister-in-law' in front of MEI, as their relationship wasn't close enough for jokes.

MEI looked at him in surprise and said, "I haven't even graduated from high school; I'm not a doctor."

"Don't be modest; you're in Fire Moth now. Becoming a doctor is just a matter of time."

Chen Ran's personality was quite reckless, and MEI immediately concluded that it was simple and direct to interact with someone like him; there was no need for wasted pleasantries.

She asked, "What's the matter?"

"I want to ask you how to kill someone," Chen Ran said with a grin.

Killing someone isn't particularly difficult; even the weak can wield a knife against the strong.

Otherwise, humanity would have long succumbed to the Herrscher.

However, when Chen Ran suddenly asked MEI, she was genuinely taken aback.

Her gaze lowered, confirming that she was unfamiliar with Chen Ran, and then the girl realized that they were in Fire Moth.

One shouldn't view the people of Fire Moth as ordinary people outside; everyone has a unique personality. This was something MEI was told by Mobius after joining Fire Moth.

In this organization, all kindness and ethics are useless.

Between people, there is only the relationship of using and being used.

She suppressed her curiosity and said to Chen Ran, "Since you're asking this question, it means that this person is stronger than you."

"Very strong. In terms of physical ability and tool application, I'm no match. Moreover, she has an above-average intelligence compared to normal people. There are no weaknesses; I can't threaten her in any way."

Asking a smarter person for advice isn't a bad thing.

Chen Ran didn't think that with his current abilities he could deal with the killer, but if it was MEI, it might not be impossible.

Don't set the limits of genius with the thinking of mortals.

MEI's eyes slightly furrowed.

Clearly, the conditions Chen Ran mentioned were very harsh. Since the other party's intelligence was above normal, it meant that relying on simple intelligence deception wouldn't work.

"Then you either borrow a powerful weapon."

"Can't get it, or rather, the victim can't access a powerful weapon," Chen Ran quickly added.

"If that's the case, then we can only try this one…"

Listening to MEI's words, Chen Ran's brain was racing.

In his mind, a plan slowly took shape.

Indeed, seeking help from MEI was the right choice.

MEI was called a rational monster by Mobius for a reason. And he learned a lot from her.

Their conversation ended there, and Chen Ran returned to his position.

He simply opened the computer and used modeling software to simulate.

Computers are great, especially the ones inside Fire Moth, which already have basic artificial intelligence assistance, significantly lowering the threshold for many needs.

Although he was somewhat unfamiliar with computers, he quickly got the hang of it under guidance.

Then, he attempted four-dimensional modeling.

Setting the scene.

Arranging character models.

Performing mathematical function calculations.

In the face of life-and-death crises, Chen Ran was very patient. He was like a savior of creation, gradually laying out the simulated scene in his mind.

It was as if he was creating a world.
