Chapter 233 - My Mother

The sun was beginning its descent, casting golden hues across the sky as Riven returned home. His time with Raphael had been rejuvenating, filled with laughter and reminiscing. He felt lighter, he didn't even flirt at all! This had been a first for him. He simply enjoyed the company of a true friend.

Entering the manor, Riven expected a flurry of activity or perhaps a concerned Ronan waiting by the door. Instead, the atmosphere was calm, almost serene. He found Ronan in the study, engrossed in a book.

"You're back," Ronan said, looking up with a gentle smile.

Riven approached, noting the absence of tension he had anticipated. "I thought you'd be worried," he admitted.

Ronan closed the book, placing it on the table. "I was a bit saddened not to find you beside me when I woke, but I understand. This is what I've worked for—to ensure you have the freedom to come and go without fear."
