Ronan's POV
I couldn't take my eyes off Sienna. The blood rage had taken over totally now—her beautiful ruby eyes replaced by that eerie purple glow. She crouched low, growling at us like a wild animal.
"We need to contain her," Caius said, appearing suddenly beside me. His vampire army spread out through the trees behind him, silent shadows ready for war.
"How did you know to come?" I asked him.
Caius's face was grim. "The magic pulse from the Trial of Power could be felt for miles. And where there's powerful magic, the Midnight Queen will follow."
As if his words had called her, the sky above us darkened. Not the natural darkness of evening, but something worse—like ink spilling across the sky.
"She's coming," Kieran warned, joining us. Without his wolf, he looked smaller, but his eyes burned with resolve. "My pack is in position around the perimeter."
I nodded, thankful that our competition for Sienna's heart had been put aside for now. We had bigger problems.
