The wind slammed against her cloak, wild and angry, as if the sky itself was trying to stop her. A loud crack of thunder followed, rattling above her head as she walked deeper into the village. Every step made her chest tighten, but she kept going. She didn't stop to look back. She made sure no one followed. No one could know.
When she reached the tall building set apart from the rest, her heart thumped louder than the storm. It stood quiet, cold, and hidden from the world. Just like it always had. Just like her secret.
Queen Fortuna slipped inside. The darkness greeted her like an old friend. She didn't need much light—she knew this place by heart. She had been here more times than she could count. And each time, she wore the same thing: a mask.
