Uchiha Shin followed Kushina and Kanako to the clan compound he had designated for the Uzumaki clan in Konoha.
As Konoha's economy flourished, the clans with deep roots built increasingly luxurious estates. Naturally, Uchiha Shin ensured the Uzumaki clan was well taken care of, elevating their status to just below the Hyuga, Uchiha, and Senju.
The only reason they weren't on par with the great clans was their dwindling numbers.
During this period, Uzumaki Ashisui, the clan head, had been pushing for Kushina and Kanako to have children. He started nagging them when they were twelve and never let up, even now that they were sixteen or seventeen.
And how did Uchiha Shin know about this? Well, Kushina and Kanako grumbled about it in bed.
Not to mention, the Uzumaki clan was… very persistent.
With only a handful of children left, the clan desperately needed to rebuild its numbers. There were barely ten kids, and among them, only five little girls were around three or four years old.
But that didn't stop Uzumaki Roshimizu from repeatedly seeking out Uchiha Shin. He had, on more than one occasion, subtly (and sometimes not-so-subtly) hinted at Shin taking responsibility for the clan's future.
At first, Shin didn't quite grasp what the old man was suggesting. Then, Roshimizu outright asked him if he would be interested in these five little girls—for the future, of course.
For the future.
The moment those words left the old man's lips, Uchiha Shin nearly choked on his tea. He wasn't some depraved bastard.
What did they expect him to do? Babysit them until they were old enough to pop out kids?
To his relief, Roshimizu later relented, saying they'd revisit the topic when the girls were grown.
For now, the burden of producing offspring fell on Kanako and Kushina.
Of course, Uchiha Shin had considered their well-being, which was why he hadn't rushed them into it. But that didn't mean there were no children at all.
Sasha had given birth to a daughter.
She had inherited some of the Uzumaki blood in her veins, and like all Uzumaki, her hair was a striking shade of red.
Shin mulled over the idea of using the Flying Thunder God to teleport to them.
To be honest, he felt a little guilty. He had never told Tsunade, Mikoto, or the others about his daughter.
Not because he was trying to hide it. He just… didn't want to deal with their reactions.
After all, none of them had children yet.
But lately, things had started to change. The women around him were beginning to warm up to the idea of having kids.
Even Tsunade, who had once been adamantly against it, had started showing signs of reconsideration.
That meant he had work to do.
A great sense of responsibility suddenly weighed on Uchiha Shin's shoulders.
"Tsunade's mindset is shifting, Mikoto and the others are at the right age, and physically… well, they're definitely capable."
After all, he had watched them grow up. He knew exactly what kind of shape they were in.
As he thought about it, Konan's face flashed through his mind.
She had been acting more and more aggressively lately. It was clear she wanted to set some kind of record and surpass the others.
As Uchiha Shin indulged in his thoughts, he arrived at Uzumaki Mito's residence.
The elderly Uzumaki matriarch still lived in the same modest courtyard, but her frail body was confined to her bed. Despite outward appearances, she was anything but weak.
The only reason she was still alive was because of the Sage Seal he had given her.
Seeing Shin enter, Mito dismissed the Uzumaki clan members.
Kushina had told them how Shin had saved their clan, so they regarded him with deep respect. They bowed before silently leaving the room.
"Shin, Kushina, Kanako, I'm truly happy to see you," Mito said gently, her wise eyes filled with warmth. "My only regret is that I won't be able to see your children."
Kushina and Kanako glanced at each other, unsure of how to react. They were still annoyed by Shin's past refusal to have children.
And just like that, they directed all their frustration at him.
"This is all Shin's fault! He kept saying we weren't ready, so we never had kids!"
"Master said the time wasn't right, so we waited."
Shin was speechless.
You could've had kids a few years ago, but what would you have done? Raised them like dolls? At least now, you actually resemble mothers.
He sighed, realizing there was only one way to get out of this mess.
"Granny Mito, you know I have Uzumaki blood, right?"
Mito nodded. "I could tell."
Between his mastery of sensory abilities and the sealing techniques he had picked up from Kushina and Kanako, there was no doubt about it.
But she was confused as to why he had suddenly brought it up.
Shin hesitated before finally saying, "Well, I'm not childless."
Silence.
Kushina and Kanako blinked. "Huh? What?"
Mito, despite being at death's door, suddenly sat up with newfound energy.
The two women stared at him suspiciously, their eyes narrowing.
Seeing no way out, Shin exhaled.
"Kanako, you know about Roran, right? I learned the Flying Thunder God technique there. I spent a lot of time exchanging knowledge with Queen Sasha. She wasn't underage like you two were back then, and well… after a few visits, a little princess was born."
His voice was casual, as if this was the most natural thing in the world.
The room fell into complete silence.
Kushina and Kanako turned to stare at each other, then back at him.
Mito, now thoroughly entertained, folded her hands. "Oh? And you never thought to mention this before?"
Shin scratched his cheek awkwardly. "Uh, well…"
He was just glad the other—more complicated—situations hadn't resulted in children.
Take the Snake Princesses, for example. Their transformation was flawless, making them beautiful and alluring in every way.
But even when they fully embraced their 'human' forms, something must've been off genetically, because they had yet to conceive.
Honestly? That was probably for the best.
He wasn't sure if the world was ready for half-snake, half-human offspring.
For now, he had enough on his plate dealing with the women already in his life.
Kushina crossed her arms. "So, you had a kid with Sasha, but not with us?"
Shin coughed. "It wasn't exactly planned."
Kanako sighed, rubbing her temples. "And now we have to deal with this."
Mito simply chuckled, amused by the entire situation. "Well, Shin, you certainly have your hands full."
Shin ran a hand through his hair. That was an understatement.
