Dominic's POV
The sun beat down on my face with the kind of heat that prickled the skin and made you restless. A tree nearby swayed in the wind, offering its gentle shade like a gift. But I didn't move. I didn't want to lose my view—not when something... someone like her had just entered my world.
There she stood.
Bryan's sister.
I had heard about her in passing, usually through Bryan's offhand remarks—how annoying she was, how protective he was, how much she meant to him. But not once did he prepare me for this.
Her smile—God, her smile—lit up the world around her. There was a glow to her that had nothing to do with the sunlight. It was something internal, like she had swallowed a sunbeam and made it hers. I felt my breath hitch and my throat tighten the longer I watched her.
