"That's good to know," Richard said in relief. "So when are you coming back?"
"Not anytime soon. I'm her only surviving relative so I need to stay back until she's fully recovered," Shantel said matter-of-factly.
"I see. Why don't you employ a nurse or something to take care of her?"
"She had all these but she still needs a family member around."
"I know. I just don't want you to wear yourself out. While taking care of her, you shouldn't neglect your own health in the process," Richard advised, remembering how Shantel had fallen asleep in his car the other day. She clearly needs rest but will always drive herself too hard.
Perhaps it was best he went over there to keep an eye on her, he said to himself.
"Thanks for your concern, but I do know how to take care of myself."
"Really? You had better remember what you said today or don't blame me if I decide to take matters into my hands. Perhaps that's what you need."
