Chapter 71
Morven then says to Zmaug;
"Don't try to be a hero, make just some small problems, enough to have their attention, but not enough to put yourself in danger, we still don't know the full extent of the Artifacts powers."
Zmaug answers with a scary smile on his face;
"Don't worry, i will have their full attention without compromising our plan."
Then the chief Elf comes and says;
"Everything is ready you can set off any time."
Morven nods and then he starts following the elf guide who knows the secret way.
Zmaug watches them leave and says to the chief;
"I'm going to need your help; we will light up the mountain."
The chief looks at him and thinks, 'Why does he look like a small child planning a prank?"
Then they also leave to gather what Zmaug needs.
Morven and the soldiers going outside the village, they fly for about fifty kilometers, and then they see a tall yellow tree, the guide says;
"We are not far; in about ten minutes we will be at the secret entrance. But from here we need to be careful because this is monsters' territory."
They turn right at the yellow tree, and they fly for about ten minutes more. Then a small clearing appears in front of them, with gras that reaches their middle, they land in a corner and the guide goes and looks around for a little bit then says;
"Here it is, this is the tunnel that leads inside the mountain, at first it was intended to be an emergency escape route, but after a few hundred years it was abandoned because of new build escape routes."
The other gather around the now freed hole in the ground, and Morven says;
"We were lucky until now not to meet any monster, but down there we won't be so lucky anymore, that means that we need to deal with the monsters that we will meet fast and clean, with minimal disturbance, even none if possible."
The others look at him and nod. Then the strongest of the ten pillars jumps down the hole. After a few moments the rest also start to jump down. The last being the guide. After he lands down, he sees the others already used some spells to illuminate the surroundings.
He sees a dome like big room that is filled with passages, and holes all around. Then he hears Morven saying;
"Okay now we need to be extra careful, the guide will stay in our middle, i will be in front, and Nr.1 of the ten pillars will stay at the back."
Then they make a circle around the guide, and they start walking following the guides instructions. They take the very first tunnel from the left side. They walk for a few minutes and Morven already feels something wrong in front of them, he says to the others;
"I will go alone, i can see perfectly well in the dark, i will see what lies ahead and if i can't finish it alone without any disturbance i will come back and we will all go, then we will decide how to best kill it."
The others just nod, they know that with the light they have, they are like a beacon in the dark, they will be spotted immediately by the monster.
Morven then just disappears, alone he can run as fast as the wind, in a few seconds he reaches the place where the monster lies. He was planning to kill it fast, alone. But he just stops and stares, in front of him he sees a nest kind of a giant room filled with thousands and thousands of centipedes like creatures, but their heads being a kind of a spider's combined with a bee's eyes.
He blends in the darkness, the monsters not knowing that are watched. He thinks for a few moments, and he tries something, he sends a wisp of black smoke towards the closest monster.
The smoke enters the monster head, and Morven can see the monster's entire life. He ignores most of the memories and the bloody fights or the matings, but in the end, he finds what he was searching for, in a memory he sees their king fighting against some other monster king that looks like a minotaur mixed with a werewolf.
He smiles and now knows what he has to do, he goes back to the others and tells them what he found, and his plan how to deal with them. And if he succeeds then they won't even have to lift a finger, the way will be free.
The others think for a moment and if they won't have to fight all the way to the mountain of course they want to follow Morven's plan. And maybe they won't even have to risk their lives when they get there. And this way the Mercenaries won't know about Morvens control.
They start to prepare themselves; Morven will go to find the minotaur like werewolf, and they will wait where the centipedes are.
Morven blends in the darkness and gets past the centipedes. He could control all of them and make them fight among themselves, but then he would need to keep on doing that until the mountain. But he will start a war that will pull all the monsters that are underground. And maybe even take this war all the way to the mercenaries. After a while he finds the lair of the minotaur werewolves' monsters, he looks around for a bit and sees one that is alone in a corner.
He goes to him and sends a dark smoke inside his head, then the monster starts screaming in his language saying something, but the next moment he dies. His head pulled out with his spine still attached.
Then Morven goes to another corner and repeats, he pulls one hand then a leg out, he makes the kills as gory as possible. Then after a few more kills the king comes.
Morven stops and looks form the darkness, then he makes a centipede that he took control of to get out of the darkness and attack the king. Of course, the king kills it with a punch. But Morvens plan went perfect, then he hears the king monster say something, and immediately all are preparing themselves for war.
He goes back to the others and sees that they also made the same to the centipedes, they killed some of them and now the centipedes are also searching for the one who did it. Just on time because they hear some sounds from the other side of the tunnel. The tunnel now having hundreds of different chambers and other tunnels that leads God knows where.
The king centipede feels the aura of his old nemesis and immediately sends some signals to the rest, they also prepare for war, but they don't wait for the others to get to them, they start crawling towards the incoming enemies.
When they meet in the middle of the tunnel, all hell breaks loose. The killing and dismembering start with no delay. They don't need to see what happened or who is guilty. They just kill the enemies in front of them. The two kings destroying everything around them with no concern of who they kill.
The others look at the carnage from a safe place. But now comes the hard part, to get the other monsters to take part in the war without being found. Morven goes to the lairs of the others and starts to wreak havoc, then to others, then to others, then to others, all monsters in but a few moments are taking part in the war. Over all is only fighting and killing.
Then Morven goes back to the others and tells them;
"Everything is ready, now it's the most important part. To take this war all the way to the mercenaries. We will play like i said, we will make ourselves look like mercenaries, then we will attack the kings and the strongest ones."
The others nod and start to split up, Morven waits for a bit then he moves towards the centipede and the minotaur kings. He looks for a opening, he finds it and he starts to send some darkness blades, that when it cuts them, it makes them feel like someone used a saw to cut slowly in their flesh, they feel pain like never before. They look towards the new enemy, and both plunges at the hateful human.
But he turns back and runs, they look at one another and both screams, and their armies follows them after the running enemies, the others also attack the other kings and the strong monsters. Then again, all mayhem breaks lose, but now the monsters are chasing some humans. Morven protects them from stray attacks or some acid spits, then he looks behind him and thinks, 'We did a pretty good job, if i can say so.'
After a few moments they see the entrance to the City, Morven sends a dark energy ball towards the thick door that blooks their way, when the energy ball hits, it explodes like a tank penetrating missile, the two-meter-thick door notwithstanding the penetrating power of the hit.
They got in and hide, then the monsters start entering the city. Of course, the city all empty, the people all held hostages in a vault. The only ones who are in the city are the mercenaries.
And when they see the monsters without ending, they almost pass out, it was not enough that from above a dragon was making problems, now they are also attacked by monsters from below. One of them says;
"Ooh we're **cked."
