Chapter 1 - 1. The Decision

"Step forward if you believe that the immortal should be abolished from the pack" The Alpha general of the Cridwan pack said. His human self seemed even more scary to me than anything else.

I watched as arrogant werewolves began walking forward to the General and I knew that Liam was definitely doomed.

Soon nearly every werewolf had stepped forward declaring Liam's fate was indeed death..

"No, he's our son!" The Luna of the Cridwan pack suddenly rushed towards the Alpha, but…

Suddenly a long knife went through her body causing her to halt with her eyes wide open..

Everyone gasped..

"Mother!" Liam yelled in agony..

He tried to break free from the chains used to tie him down but the guards pinned him to his knees.

The general shut his eyes in order not to see the ugly scene of his wife's death..

Although she had given birth to an immortal therefore there was no use of her to him.

The knife was pulled out of The Luna's body and she fell dead to the floor.

"No!" Liam yelled again..

He was freed from the guards' grips and he rushed to his mother, despite the weight of the heavy chains on him..

He rushed to her aid…but she was long gone already….

And I could only watch from a distance.

Liam turned angrily to the general. He suddenly launched at him, but the guards stopped him halfway by pulling his chains.

He struggled, but his attempts we're all to no avail and that was when our eyes met..

His gaze was full of disdain and hatred and I wondered why he would believe that I would betray him–although I knew the real culprit, I kept shut..

Since he was a half demon and half werewolf, he was not able to change into a werewolf making him an imposter to the pack members..and they thought banishing him would be the right choice.

He deviated his gaze from my direction back to the general.

"I would hope you rot in the worst place, father..!" Liam said with sarcasm and a laugh of mockery pathed his lips.

"All of you!" He added with a very serious and sinister expression that got everyone's knees weak in fear…

The General tried hard to pretend as though he wasn't marvelled and afraid of his own son. He cleared his throat and said, "You have no shame right? You stand in front of us all as an imposter and you still breathe out those words with no shame or gratitude for the elders not making a decision to eliminate you for life, huh?" He screamed on the top of his lungs.

Liam smirked. It all seemed to be more of a game to him–unserious and more of a joke..

But I knew how serious it would turn out…

This would surely awaken the moon goddess and her involvement will definitely cause a huge battle between the werewolves and the demons.

It would arise from the past battle between the werewolves and demons as they have despised each other for decades.

"I would prefer to leave among the demons than to be a part of the injustice in this pack." Liam said.

His words shocked everyone including myself. It was the first time a werewolf or half werewolf would happily agree to be abolished as other offenders who were to be abolished usually beg for forgiveness from the general and the elder wolves.

But Liam…

He chose to leave the pack to be with the worst enemies of the werewolves.

"I told you all that he indeed carries in him the blood of the demons. He should be eliminated!" Skyler, the son of the alpha and Liam's step brother, said.

"Yes, he must be killed!" Everyone chorused and I couldn't help hearing the word 'killed'.

"It is settled now and the decision has been made. By tomorrow morning before the sun rises the immortal shall die!" The general delayed and the wolves howled.

Liam stayed quiet till he was taken away by the guards.

As soon as every wolf slowly dismissed I began to search for where Liam was kept.

I walked past some guards and over heard them speaking of the recent event and I heard them emphasis on the word 'Dungeon' before I passed past them completely.

An idea popped into my head as soon as I heard the word 'Dungeon'

I rushed as fast as I could to the pack's dungeon where offenders were kept usually before abolishment or…execution.

I grabbed a basket full of fruits as I usually do when visiting Karl, a friend of mine who is a pack guard.

"Mira..what brings you here?"

I placed the basket of fruits on a large crystal stone.

"I brought in some fruits for you and the other guards.." I replied with a bland smile.

"Oh, thanks Mira, that's so nice." He settled to eat.

I watched him for a while, planning my words one by one like an AI.

"Is there any problem, Mira?" He stood up.

"Can you do me a favor, Karl?"

"Sure, what is that?" Karl replied. He walked closer to me as he knew my expression was only serious when I was indeed being serious.

"I need to get to Liam, and I know you can help me.."

"What?" Karl whispered with his eyes wide open.

"That's too dangerous for you, young Mira"

"I know, I just need to see him. He needs someone to talk to at this time." I tried to give a good reason on why he should let me in…but as cautious as Karl had always been I knew it wouldn't work on him.

"It's too dangerous there, it's way worse than the dead valley itself.." Karl said with the lowest tone he could offer.

"Shouldn't that be said out? I thought the general would detain anyone who spoke about the dead valley in public without caution?" I said to make it known to him that I have got something to him…so I could use that as an advantage to get him to let me speak to Liam.

"I know where you are heading to girl, but just know that I wasn't the one who let you in. If you tell, I'll chop off your pretty head and regain the power of your wolf." Karl said. His words made fear run down my spine like a burning desire.

I swallowed..

"Okay" Was the only word I could utter. He led me to an underground tunnel and in the next five minutes I was face to face with Liam.

"I'll leave you two now.." Karl said and he turned to leave after another glance at Liam.

He whispered to me as he passed by my side in the lowest tone ever, "Call out on me, if he gets cranky and I'll handle him."

"Okay, thanks." I whispered back and he left through the tunnel.

"Be sure there's no spy here before you say anything." Liam said before I could speak.

"This is an enclosed tunnel, Liam. What the hell is wrong with you?" I replied. I was truly concerned about Liam, but his words and actions were so arrogant.

He snorted sitted on a large stone formed as a rest where he could lay.

"As long as I remain an immortal they won't accept to make me the heir so there isn't any use trying, Mira. Now, get out!" Liam said word for word and his last sentence sent chills through my spine.

"Liam.." I muttered under my breath. His words hurt me and he knew it as laid on the rest and turned to make his back face me.

I turned around and hesitantly walked out of the tunnel..

I so badly wishes he would stop me, but no..he didn't!"

His decision was clear…

He cared not about the pack and his title.
