Reluctantly, Rexan stood and walked to the front of the class. Her new dark wand felt heavy in her hand as she pointed it at the book on the desk.
"Blue..." she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
The class waited.
Nothing happened.
Laughter erupted, filling the room. Everything seemed to move in slow motion as Rexan stood frozen, her cheeks burning with embarrassment.
Even Ken smirked, his amusement clear.
"I thought she was supposed to be amazing."
"I guess it was all overhyped."
"Was she lying?"
"Pathetic..."
The mocking whispers stung, but before Rexan could react, something strange began to happen.
Colors shifted.
The wooden floorboards glowed with hues of blue and purple. The desks shimmered in blue and silver. Notebooks turned blue, uniforms turned blue, and, to everyone's horror, their skin began to change colors.
"Whoa! What's going on?" someone whispered in alarm.
