Chapter 2 - WHAT A DAYMARE

"Are you for real?!" I scoff. "On my first day?!" I ask in disbelief.

She nods her head slowly. "On your first day..." She pauses and sighs. "... You called someone's parents. That's a very serious offence." She says calmly.

"But, he started it!" I say angrily.

"Yes." She sighs. "That's true. But, he didn't involve your parents."

My anger is almost reaching the top.

"What do you mean?! He literally insulted my family name! That's an insult to I and my parents!" I say, almost shouting.

She sighs. "I'm sorry for that. But you'll still have to go." She says calmly.

I scoff. "Now I finally get it!"

"What?"

"You're a racist, aren't you?" I chuckle dryly.

"Excuse me?!" She says in a warning tone.

"Yes! Yes you are!"

"NOAH! WATCH YOUR WORDS!" She says angrily.

"Oh, please! I mean, I'm black and you both are white! So, that's the logical reason!"

"I see this conversation is getting too intense!" She gets up. "Let's go to the principal office. You're going!"

"Ok! This isn't my first, second or third! AND it wouldn't be my last! I can't believe I'm in such a school!" I turn around and begin walking away.

"Wait."

I turn around, glaring at her. "What?!"

She sighs. "Please, come and have a seat." She says calmly.

I laugh dryly. "So, you could lecture me more on bull..."

"LANGUAGE, NOAH!"

"... Stories."

"Oh." She shakes her head sideways. "Just come and sit."

I walk back and sit. "Go on."

She sits. "You're quite a rude being. I mean, student."

"That's not what you called me for, yes?" I ask dryly and she nods.

"I'm sorry for everything that happened.

She sighs. "Trust me, I am no racist. I love all skin colours." She says calmly.

"Well, that's nice!" I say dryly.

"Not what I was expecting. But, all I want to say is you should not look at all whites as racists. We can't keep on receiving outbursts from you. You know that will attract hatred, right?"

My anger begins to drop. While guilt begins to rise.

I sigh. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to lash out." I sigh tiredly.

"No, it's okay, I understand. It is obviously from your past experiences." She inhales deeply and exhales in satisfaction. "I like kids like you... Kids, who always stands up to people. That's a very nice character. But..., I would advise you to control yourself. Do you understand?"

I nod. "Yes ma." I say calmly.

"Good. I was never going to expel you." She says, surprising me.

"Really?!" I ask in disbelief.

She chuckles. "Yes, of course, silly! Who does that?!" She laughs.

I sigh in relief as guilt fills me more. "I'm really really really really really sorry, ma'am! I promise to not do it again."

"Good." She chuckles. "That's all I want to hear from you. Now you can go."

I stand up and smile. "Thank you, ma'am. And once again, I'm sorry."

"It's okay." She chuckles. "You just change instantly, like nothing happened. And that's really nice."

"Thank you, ma'am."

"Sure. From tomorrow, after school, you'll wait behind with some students, for my special rehabilitation class."

'Well, that should be better than a normal class. The lesser the better.'

"Yes, ma'am."

I walk out of the office, on my way to class.

"I guess I'll have to apologize to him. I don't need any future drama." I mumble tiredly. "He ignored the agreement!"

I finally reach my class entrance door and enter, walking straight to the white boy and stopping right in front of him.

"Hi. I'm Noah." I say with a fake wide smile, stretching my hand for a handshake and receiving a glare from him.

"I...AM... FRANK!" He snaps. "And what do you want?!"

'Wow! He is good! Atleast he is not over doing it.'

I sigh. "I am here in peace." I say dryly. "I'm sorry for what I said. Forgive me."

He and some of the students bursts into laughter, while some are looking at me, dumbfounded.

"I guess that's a yes, then." I sigh. "Don't go around, insulting peoples' family names. Next time you try it with me, I'm gonna destroy your white baby face." I chuckle dryly as noise erupts in the class. From; gasps to murmuring to laughter and so on.

"IS THAT A THREAT?!" Frank shouts.

I nod in agreement. "Yup. Yup. It is. So, I would advise you to stay away from me."

"YOU...YOU..." He pauses and grins. "We shall meet again."

I walk straight to my locker and sit down. "Freak." I mumble to myself.

Minutes later, a teacher comes in and class starts.

*************

'OH GOD! WHAT AM I LOOKING FOR IN SCIENCE?!'

I groan in pain as I stretch myself. I'm in the school's glorious library.

It is big. It's whole wall is white. It's floor is completely white tiles. There are lots of shelves and lots of books in them. There are also lots of chairs and tables. And nice ceiling fans and air conditioners almost all over. It is truly nice... For a place to sleep. *Laughs* But, the cameras around makes it feel like they're shooting a film twenty-four seven. And sleeping... Is not an option.

I stand up, stretch myself more, close my laptop and yawn lazily.

"Man, am I tired and hungry." I look around the library for the last time. "I wonder why they're still so many books, when we have laptops, projectors and free wi-fi."

I begin walking out of the library, but stop as I hear someone sobbing.

'That's strange.'

I decide to check. And surprisingly, find a boy sobbing.

He is a fellow black, but he's lighter than me and looks quite mature.

I look around the big library. Not seeing anyone, I sit beside the boy who haven't notice me, due to he is bending his head and sniffing a lot.

'Oh God! What am I doing?!'

"Hi." I say quietly and tap the boy's shoulder.

He raises his head quickly and almost shouts his heart out.

I laugh aloud. "Chill! Sorry for scaring you. It wasn't on purpose."

He dries his face quickly. "No need to apologize, senior."

"How do you know?!"

"I walked passed your class countless times."

"Ok... So, what class?"

"Ss2."

"Okay. So, wetin sup? You chop breakfast?(So, what happened? You were rejected?)" I ask and chuckle.

He chuckles too. "NO! No way!"

"Ok. Sooo...?"

"I'm not meant to say, but..." He sighs. "It's my elder step brother. He said he wants to leave I and my parents and go stay with one of his mummy's sisters." He says calmly.

I hiss, staring at him in disbelief and disappointment. "So, that's why you're crying?" I ask, feeling irritated. "How old are you?"

"I'm fourteen." He mumbles.

"THA FUCK! Are you serious?!"

"Yup." He sniffs. "I am."

"You... You look much older. I was expecting eighteen or seventeen."

He laughs. "I know. Rapid growth, right?" He chuckles. "Everyone thinks the same, some think I'm older than that."

"Well, that's good for you, then." I get up. "Just stop being such a baby! You're crying for your brother!" I scoff. "What a joke!" I sigh. "Just take care and live up to yourself... Or maybe your height and size! I am Noah, nice to meet you. And goodbye..."

'... I hope I never do this again!'

"I am Joshua, nice to see you too. Goodbye." He says calmly and I leave the library, on my way to my class.

"Man! I can't believe I just did that! Rrgh! I thought I handled that soft, annoying side of me!" I Sigh. "I guess I need more training."

"Hi!" A beautiful young fair skinned Nigeria girl says as she walks up to me, a wide smile on her face. She is tall and slim.

'THE AGREEMENT FOR CHRIST'S SAKE!'

"Hi." I say dryly. "How may I help you?"

"I know you don't do love, but... Can you be my boyfriend till I go." She says calmly.

Ok! Ok! I have had some pretty fake girls' requests. BUT THIS ONE IS THE MOST SICKENING! But luckily I won't fall for this one.

"So...?" She asks.

"Well, no. Now if you'll excuse me." I walk pass her.

She quickly comes to my front. "Please! Please! I... I need you badly. I need to feel love before I go!"

'OK! SHE HAS DONE IT!'

"Look...! Don't spoil my mood!" I snap. "If you do, I'll snap you like a stick!" I snap angrily, causing the girl to gasp and open her eyes wide in shock.

"ANNND! CUT!" A masculine voice shouts.

'Cut?!' I look at the girl who is now smiling wide, in disgust. 'Of course! It was an f-ing drama!' I sigh tiredly.

"Wow! You're good! Very good! In fact... Too good!" The girl says and chuckles. "I suspect it's from experience, right?"

"Whatever!" I say angrily and shove pass her, on my way to class.

I finally reach my class and walk straight to my locker. I sit down and sigh in frustration and disgust.

'THEY CAN'T JUST PLAY WITH SOMEONE LIKE THAT! WHAT IF I ACCEPTED?! And why does class have to be far from the library?!'

"Excuse me, young man!" A masculine voice says beside me.

I turn to see a tall and slim white man smiling at me. "Any problem, sir?" I ask calmly, trying my best to control my temper that's boiling.

"Well, we're sorry for what just happened." He says in an apologetic tone. "That was the only way to get a pure reaction. You're the tenth person and surprisingly, the only one that said no." He inhales and exhales. "And your reaction is superb! You're what we need!" He says in an excited tone. "So can you join our school drama?!" He asks calmly.

My anger control system is starting to crash. "So...," I pause not wanting to say anything bad.

"Well, before you say no, listen to me." He says in a worried tone. "We called your mother and asked her. She said she would love it, if you accept."

'Of course. That's my mother for you. She just llooovveess drama.'

I sigh tiredly. "Ok. But why me? Why can't you check others? There are people who are better than me. And why did you ask my mum before me? Is that some sort of persuasive method or technique?" I ask with raised eyebrows.

He chuckles. "Three answers. One: Wow! Your acceptance reply was quick. Two: Well, I found what I'm looking for. So, it's pointless to continue the search. Three: Well, the mum part is partially true. I asked your mum, because that is school rule. 'Asking parents before children.' And also, I suspected you wouldn't say no, if your mum accepted. It was a short but pleasant call." He chuckles. "But again we're sorry." He says in an apologetic tone.

"No. It's okay."

He stretches his hand for a shake and I shake it and release it.

"I am Jack Brown."

'And I am Navy Blue.'

"I am Chukwuemeka Noah."

"Nice to meet you, Cho... Chou... Chuo..."

"Just call me Noah." I say and he nods.

"I'll come tomorrow. So, we'll start practice."

"Ok."

He nods one last time and leaves.

"I guess that's it. Everything bad have happened on my first day of school." I sigh tiredly and gather my things. "Time to go." I mumble to myself and get up, leaving the class.

Reaching the gates, I greet the gateman and walk out, finally free from unwanted socialising. I board a Keke (Tricycle) and it becomes full.

The rider starts it and in no time, we're zooming through vehicles on the road.

I smile to myself, enjoying the beautiful sight of some places and wishing I am in them.

"It's okay. I have reach my destination." I say as we arrive at my street. I come down from the Keke and pay him. He gives me change and drives away.

I walk straight to my house and knock on the gate.

The gateman quickly opens the gate and I entered.

"Ah, Oga (Master) how was school today?" He asks happily.

"It went well. My mumsi no dey abi?(My mum isn't around, right?)" I ask.

"Yes!"

"Okay. You don chop? (Have you eaten?)"

"Yes, Oga. Madam drop food for me, before una comot. (Yes, master. Madam drop food for me, before you both, left.)"

"Hope, you belleful? (Hope you're satisfied?)"

"Yes, Oga. The food was enough."

"Ok. Make I go freshen up. (Let me go and freshen up.)"

I walk straight to our house entrance door, dip my hand into my pocket, bring out my key and open the door.

Mum gave me one of the keys to the house after hours of brainstorming whether she should give me or not and advising me till my advise limit broke. *Sigh* It was brain torture.

I walk in and walk straight to my room. I drop my bag on my bed, quickly undress, shower and change into new clothes. I drop the clothes in my laundry basket and zoom straight to the kitchen.

I grab a plate, load it with rice and a chicken on top, then I rush to our fridge, grab a cold drink and rush to the dining. I begin eating, rushing the food like there's no tomorrow.

After I'm done I take the plate to the kitchen, wash it and dry it, then I dispose the bottle and head straight to my room for a nap.

I lie on the nice warm bed, enjoying the peace and quiet.

"Ahhh." I exhale in satisfaction. "This is life. No nightmarish best friend, no drama, no unwanted visitors. No stupid bullies." I frown. "Only just unwanted attention and a very-much-hate-it drama." I sigh in disgust. "Both with Frank and a drama queen."

I chuckle, trying to forget all the unpleasant memories. "I can't believe that boy was crying because of his brother." I chuckle. "He should be like me, who accepted his fate and forgot about his ex-best friend that is a piece of..." I sigh. "Yup. Whatever." I close my eyes and instantly flew off to dream realm.

************

"Wake up, sleepy sleepy." A familiar voice says and chuckles.

"Good afternoon mum." I say tiredly and sit up. "How was work?" I ask sleepily.

"It was good. And how was school?" She asks, drawing the last word like it is a five seconds word.

"It was great. I accepted your wish." I fake a wide smile. "So, today went well. Too well if I say so myself."

She laughs. "Silly boy!" She chuckles. "Guess what....? I have a very big surprise for you." She says in an excited tone.

"What? You got us visitors?" I chuckle, knowing it's not true.

"Yes and wow! How do you know?!" She says and my joy dies instantly.

"Eh?!"

"Yes. Let's go! They're all waiting for you in the dining." She says, smiling wide.

I sigh in frustration. "Mum?! I don't want to go!"

"Oh, you must, little man." She says and we both chuckle.

"Fine." I grumble and get up from my bed.

We head straight to our dining. On arriving, I freeze to the ground, my eyes wide in shock.

'WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON IN HERE?!'

"Hi, Noah!" Every single person I don't want in my life said together. Well, almost every person...

"Oh, hi best friend!" Frank says, a wide grin on his face. "Remember me?"

'BEST... FRIEND?!'

I walk to him, grab a plate of food from the table and slam it to his face.

Everyone gasps in horror.

"HOW IS THAT, 'BEST... FRIEND'?!" I ask, a wide grin on my face.
