Chapter 89 - Chapter 89: Yao Lao: Damn It, Tricked Again!

Chapter 89: Yao Lao: Damn It, Tricked Again!

In the western province of the Jia Ma Empire, two streaks of light suddenly halted mid flight. The figures within looked at each other, their faces filled with shock.

"What a terrifying aura. This kind of pressure is on par with ours!"

"It's all extreme negative emotions... Has someone gone berserk from cultivation deviation?"

"It's coming from the same direction as the Three Colored Pupiled Serpent. Speed up! Let's go check it out!"

"Let's move!"

With a slight push of their toes, the two figures shot forward, creating massive wind pressure as they accelerated. Suspended in mid air, these two figures were unmistakably Dou Zong level experts!

Gurgle gurgle…

The sound of thick, viscous liquid bubbling echoed in the air as the black cloud slowly condensed. From within, a pitch black, blood red figure emerged, its form eerie and menacing.

Its body, from its limbs to its torso, was covered with countless grimacing, distorted faces. These were not simply markings they were souls. These anguished, terrified faces were the very essence that formed the blood colored black figure!

Crunch crunch~

The sickening sound of chewing continued, echoing from the area around the figure's skull. Lu Bu squinted and saw that it was Protector Wu's face.

Though severely injured by Lu Bu's earlier ambush, Protector Wu remained one of the strongest souls in the mass. Yet even he could not escape the relentless biting and tearing of the other, frenzied souls. He was slowly being assimilated, his consciousness devoured, until he ultimately became part of the vengeful spirit.

"Jie jie jie... You're both going to die! The Yun Lan Sect will die too! None of you will escape!"

Protector Wu's mouth moved silently, but Lu Bu and Yao Lao could clearly sense his intent through the spiritual fluctuations.

As Protector Wu completely fused into the vengeful spirit, an overwhelming aura of bloodlust, despair, and destruction exploded outward, dragging all those present into the metaphorical hell of slaughter.

"Damn it... That thing's aura is terrifying!" Yun Yun's clear, beautiful eyes flickered with traces of bloodlust, but she quickly suppressed it, retreating several steps with lingering fear as she observed the spirit.

It wasn't just her. Even further away, the onlookers Mittel Tengshan, the other two elders, Xiao Yan, and Nalan Yanran felt the oppressive pressure. Both groups retreated hastily, calming their hearts and suppressing the chaotic emotions surging within them.

"Ahhhh !"

At that moment, a series of horrifying, inhuman roars rang out.

Before the start of the Three Year Agreement, the Yun Lan Sect had eight elders present four Dou Lings and four Dou Wangs. During the battle, the four Dou Ling elders had retreated, but Yun Leng and the other three Dou Wang elders had stayed behind.

Unfortunately, standing too close to the spirit, they were thoroughly affected. Yun Leng's eyes turned blood red as he charged toward Yun Yun without hesitation.

"Courting death!"

A sharp light flashed in Yun Yun's beautiful eyes. Her sword swept out, releasing a fierce sword beam. The beam slashed through the air, and Yun Leng's body fell lifelessly to the ground, separated from his head.

A dog of others who schemed against Lu Bu and brought harm to the sect why keep him alive?

Yun Yun's expression was cold and calm, without a hint of hesitation. However, the remaining three Dou Wang elders immediately followed Yun Leng's actions, also charging toward her.

Frowning slightly, Yun Yun couldn't help but feel grateful for Lu Bu's earlier suggestion to forbid the sect disciples from spectating. Otherwise, the chaos would have been unmanageable.

The immediate issue, though, was these three elders. Unlike Yun Leng, they didn't deserve death, and Yun Yun didn't want to kill them.

Just then, a wave of cold Dou Qi surged forth. A flash of icy blue light streaked by, instantly freezing the three Dou Wang elders in place.

Raising an eyebrow, Yun Yun recognized the source it was Hai Bodong. Apparently, her teacher and the others hadn't left entirely; they were still observing the battle.

"Hai Old Man, your mastery over icy Dou Qi has become quite refined," Jia Xing Tian remarked, impressed. "It's no wonder your Dou Qi can cleave mountains. Precision like this is truly difficult to achieve."

"Such a pity, though. If you hadn't been sealed all those years, you'd be leagues beyond me," Yun Shan chuckled, adding salt to the wound.

"..."

Hai Bodong's face darkened. If it weren't for Lu Bu, he wouldn't have intervened at all.

Back on the battlefield, Lu Bu's eyes gleamed brightly as he stared at the now fully formed vengeful spirit.

What a treasure. It looks delicious… Lu Bu's eyebrows arched as a thought took root in his mind.

Ordinarily, most people facing such a spirit would only have the option of fleeing. These monstrosities, designed purely for slaughter, lacked any semblance of reason.

Even someone like the Heavenly Flame Venerate would need an extraordinary flame like the Fallen Heart Flame to counter such a spirit. As for Yao Lao, without such a specialized flame, he'd likely flee without hesitation.

But Lu Bu was different. With the Devouring Ancient Symbol as his safeguard, the negative energy from the spirit couldn't touch him. Additionally, he possessed the Spiritual Flame, which was just as effective against souls.

This vengeful spirit… it's destined to be a perfect tonic for him!

Within the folds of Lu Bu's robe, there was a subtle movement as the head of the Seven Colored Heaven Swallowing Python slowly emerged.

It glanced at Lu Bu's unnervingly calm expression, its crystal clear, seductive eyes flashing with a hint of doubt. Did this brat have another trump card besides her?

Forget it, doesn't matter. If he dies, all the better!

The Seven Colored Heaven Swallowing Python slowly retreated back into Lu Bu's robe, continuing to observe the show. It wasn't every day she got to come out, and the current situation was far too entertaining to miss.

"Damn it… the Hall of Souls really has some tricks up its sleeve." Yao Lao's expression flickered, startled not only by Protector Wu's ability to unleash such an attack while severely injured but also by the vengeful spirit's pure and overwhelming bloodlust.

This fight was over it was time to leave.

Yao Lao's expression wavered as he concluded that Lu Bu, being connected to the Yun Lan Sect's female sect leader, wouldn't leave the situation unchecked. But he himself had no such attachments. It was time to make his exit.

Leave!

With a flicker, Yao Lao's figure abruptly withdrew, darting toward Xiao Yan's location. If not now, when?

"Damn it…" Yun Yun muttered to herself, unable to help but curse silently at the retreating spirit body.

She stepped forward, intent on assisting, but the vengeful spirit's oppressive negative energy surged once again, forcing her to step back. Her soul wasn't as strong as Lu Bu's; stepping in would only worsen the situation.

"Damn…" Concern flickered across Yun Yun's delicate face. Now all she could do was rely on Lu Bu.

Far in the distance, Hai Bodong and the other two observers shared the same sentiment. Though their Dou Qi cultivation was formidable, their souls weren't strong enough to withstand the vengeful spirit's pressure. Protector Wu had poured his own soul into forging this spirit, making it particularly lethal. Without proper defenses, stepping in would be akin to serving themselves up on a silver platter.

As Yao Lao withdrew, the vengeful spirit finally completed its transformation. A deafening roar tore through the air as the blood red figure, bringing with it a wave of nauseating stench, lunged toward Lu Bu.

Its pitch black, grotesquely human like fist studded with countless twisted faces hurtled downward. The howling wind from its punch was as oppressive as a collapsing mountain.

"Hmph!"

A cold gleam flashed in Lu Bu's eyes. His right hand clenched into a fist as an azure golden hue illuminated his arm. With a twist of his waist and hips, he launched a punch of his own.

BOOM!!

A thunderous explosion erupted, sending shockwaves rippling through the air. The vengeful spirit and Lu Bu both were forced back by the violent collision.

"This brat's physique is monstrous… but let him tangle with the vengeful spirit. I'm out."

Hearing the commotion behind him, Yao Lao glanced back briefly, his surprise tinged with a sly smirk. I won't be so easily used, boy.

A few quick flashes later, he arrived beside Xiao Yan and swiftly retreated into the Bone Spirit Ring.

"Xiao Yan, let's go. This has nothing to do with us anymore!" Yao Lao's gleeful voice rang out. "Lu Bu can handle things at the Yun Lan Sect. Don't worry about Nalan Yanran just leave!"

As he spoke, a surge of soul power enveloped Xiao Yan, propelling him toward the base of the Yun Lan Sect's mountain.

However, before they could cover much ground, Lu Bu's figure flickered back into view in the arena. Planting his feet firmly, his soul power erupted, and silvery white inscriptions began to spread and interweave. In the blink of an eye, a circular formation took shape and rapidly expanded outward.

The mindless vengeful spirit, oblivious to the danger, charged straight in like a tank, entering the array's range in a flash.

"Imprison!"

With a hand seal, Lu Bu's voice rang out, and an invisible force pressed down on the vengeful spirit. The hulking figure faltered, its speed sharply reduced.

In the next moment, countless silver white inscriptions extended across the spirit's body, forming strange runes forged from spiritual flames. The runes lit up across its limbs and torso.

"Roar… ROAR ROAR ROAR… ROAR…"

As the runes attached themselves, white smoke began to rise from the spirit's body, as if molten iron had been seared into its flesh.

The spirit's movements grew slower and slower until, at last, it was completely immobilized. With a grave expression, Lu Bu's Purple Cloud Wings flared, propelling him into the air. Hovering above the vengeful spirit, he extended a hand and slammed his palm downward.

A deep, black vortex appeared in his palm, rapidly expanding several times over. From its center, dark tendrils shot out, coiling around the vengeful spirit's form. Slowly but surely, the tendrils pulled it toward the depths of the black hole. In a matter of seconds, the spirit was entirely swallowed.

Far away, Xiao Yan came to an abrupt halt, turning to look back. His gaze locked onto Lu Bu just as the latter finished sealing away the vengeful spirit. Their eyes met.

Lu Bu's expression carried the same playful mockery as it had mere moments before.

"Damn it, this brat…" Yao Lao's soul trembled with fury. He didn't know what had just happened, but the uncertainty only made it worse. The key issue was clear: somehow, he'd been tricked by this boy once again!
