Leon scratched his head, pretending nothing had happened.
Until Isa stood in front of him, grinning mischievously, "Brother-in-law, I didn't expect you to be so good at shooting. Help me shoot one too."
"Su-Sure, no problem. Boss, ten more rounds."
Boss: "You're dreaming!"
While Leon was busy shooting, Isa leaned over to her sister, "I figured your relationship would improve after your first visit to our house, but I didn't expect it to get this much better."
Rossweise blushed and quietly nudged her sister's arm, "Sis, don't say that… Leon and I, we… we're just a normal couple, respectful and courteous to each other."
"Respectful and courteous? What kind of respectful couple has three kids?"
As she said this, Isa bent down and picked up Luna, "What do you think, little Luna? Mommy and Daddy are absolutely~ absolutely~ absolutely a very~ very~ loving couple, right?"
Luna didn't care whether Auntie was trying to embarrass her parents. She only knew that agreeing with adults was always the right move.
"Yes!", Luna nodded vigorously.
"See that? Even the child can tell. Stop being so stubborn, little Rose."
Rossweise sighed helplessly, "Sis, don't talk about stuff like that in front of the kids…"
The two sisters chatted away.
Before long, Leon walked over with the fourth teddy bear of the day.
"Here's your bear, Sis."
"Alrighty, thanks, brother-in-law."
Isa took the teddy bear into her arms and couldn't help but start pondering, 'Which race is the best at shooting again?'
Then she chuckled to herself, shook her head, and dismissed the messy thoughts.
'Better to follow grandma's advice and relax for a while.'
The whole family enjoyed a rare moment of rest at the Baby Dragon Amusement Park.
That evening, after dinner, they went to Selina's photo studio to pick up the family portrait and Luna and Little Light's school enrollment photos.
By then, it was already past eight at night. Even at Rossweise's flying speed, it would take at least two or three hours to get back, by then it'd be the middle of the night, and the kids wouldn't be able to stay awake.
So, everyone decided to stay the night in Sky City.
Naturally, the hotel they checked into was the most luxurious one, after all, the Silver-Red sisters weren't lacking in money.
After settling the kids in, Isa went up to the hotel rooftop.
Leon, Rossweise, and Grandmother Veronica were already there.
"Oh, looks like none of us can sleep," Isa walked over.
The four of them stood side by side in front of the railing, gazing out at Sky City under the night sky.
Lights glittered, decadence surrounded them, it truly was a dreamy metropolis.
People always recall their past after a fulfilling day.
Leon was no exception.
Looking at the view, he couldn't help but remember the days in the Dragon-Slaying Army from a few years ago.
Back then, he hadn't been betrayed and hunted by the Empire yet, and still held the highest hopes for the dragon-slaying cause.
He'd often do the same thing during army rest periods, climb the tallest trees with Rebecca, Martin, and Victor to stargaze and moon-watch.
Rebecca always said that after they had eliminated all the enemies in the world, she wanted to keep watching the moon with her comrades.
Leon would reply, that depends on the weather, after all, you can't see the moon on cloudy days.
Martin would agree.
Then Rebecca would immediately pull out her gun and press it to both their foreheads, questioning the heavens why their team included these two steel-hearted straight guys.
Not romantic at all.
Looking back on those years of battle, though exhausting, they weren't without joy.
Leon silently let out a breath and looked up at the night sky.
Coincidentally, the moon tonight was just as bright as back then.
'When it's all over, more people will watch the moon with you, crazy girl,' he thought silently, then slowly reached out and held the hand of the person beside him.
The back of her hand was cool as always, but it didn't matter, it would warm up after holding it for a while.
Rossweise responded to his rare initiative.
Fingers intertwined, no longer separate.
Isa immediately sensed the faint stench of romance in the air.
She turned to look, 'Little Rose's expression is normal, but the brother-in-law seems kind of… emo?'
Isa blinked and looked up.
The full Luna hung in the sky.
Suddenly, as if she realized something—
'Moonhowler wolves can't help but howl at the sky on full moon nights…', Thinking this, she looked at Leon again.
Although expecting someone to suddenly howl in front of you is kind of weird.
'But to test your bloodline, dear brother-in-law, please don't suppress your instincts.'
'Let it out in a loud howl!'
———
'Well, guess he's not a Moonhowler.'
The air turned chilly. Leon took off his coat and draped it over Rossweise's shoulders, "Head back?"
"Mm."
She turned and looked at Isa and Grandmother Veronica, "Sis, Grandma, Leon and I are going back first. You two rest early."
"Good night, Little Rose," Isa waved.
Grandmother nodded as well.
The couple left the rooftop.
Isa's gaze followed their backs until they walked down the stairs and disappeared from sight. Only then did she look away.
"Sigh," The Red Dragon Queen let out a sigh.
Grandmother Veronica looked at her granddaughter, "What's wrong?"
Isa pulled out the list from her pocket and crossed off "Lunahowler." "Garuda, Thunder Elf, Lunahowler… Out, along with Mamba. That just leaves—"
"Isa," Grandma interrupted her.
"Mm?"
"Have you thought about what we'll do if we really find out Leon isn't a dragon?"
Isa blinked and seriously pondered the question.
After a moment, she shook her head, "No idea."
After a pause, she curled her lips into a slight smile, gave a soft chuckle, and lowered her gaze to the list in her hand.
"But it was just a silly little farce anyway. Just something I did to amuse myself."
Grandmother Veronica smiled kindly, "But even if you keep investigating, I don't think you'll find anything."
"Eh? Why not?"
"There's only one left 'Human.' But do you know any distinctive traits or habits of that race?"
Isa shook her head, "Nope. Which is weird, because humans… they seem like the most primitive species. Of course, I don't mean 'primitive' as in backward, but…"
"They have incredible adaptability."
"They know a little of every major race's magic. They have no strengths, but also no clear weaknesses."
"If anything, they don't need to learn shapeshifting magic, because all shapeshifting magic on the Samael continent ultimately ends in human form."
Grandmother Veronica nodded slightly, "Actually, I've studied that race for many years too. Besides their adaptability, I've found something very interesting."
"What is it?"
"Humans… sometimes inexplicably possess the strongest willpower in this world."
Such high praise made Isa feel puzzled, "What do you mean by that?"
"Look, humans only live around a hundred years. But in that short time, they constantly expand, learn, explore."
"And they pass down all the knowledge from that century to the next generation."
"They grow through birth, aging, illness, and death. No matter how hard the process, this inheritance never breaks."
"And that constant inheritance is just one expression of their strong willpower. There are other examples, nlike survival, expanding territory, though sometimes driven by desire."
"But… without desire, there's no progress, right?"
Listening to Grandma's explanation, Isa nodded thoughtfully.
The human-dragon war had lasted nearly a hundred years. Her understanding of the race had always stayed at the "enemy" level, she had never really tried to learn more about them.
Grandma's words truly gave her a new perspective on humans.
Isa picked up the list. A wisp of dragonfire slowly ignited in her palm, burning the list to ash bit by bit.
The flakes of ash were carried off by the night breeze, slowly fading away into the wind.
"Grandma, thank you for playing along with me all day, even though we didn't find out brother-in-law's species in the end."
Grandma smiled gently, "It's okay. But if something like this comes up again next time, make sure to invite me too."
Isa grinned and wrapped an arm around Grandma's shoulder, walking with her toward the stairs, "Didn't expect you to be so nosy, Grandma. Hundreds of years old and still so gossipy."
"Only you youngsters are allowed to gossip?"
"Of course not. But next time, I might have to investigate something else."
"Like what?"
"Like… Little Rose and Brother-in-law's fourth baby~"
The grandmother and granddaughter left the rooftop, silence settling in.
A slip of paper not completely burned fluttered down from the air. At its edge, a few sparks still lingered.
Those sparks burned with all their might, and finally, just before going out, completely consumed the words "Human."

Half a month later, the new batch of baby dragon enrollment tests at Saint Heath Academy were held as scheduled.
It happened to coincide with Monday, just right to conveniently send Noah back to school.
After arriving at the academy, the family parted ways at the entrance of the teaching building.
"Don't be nervous during the exam, believe in yourselves, and believe in Dad, you'll definitely pass," As the eldest sister, Noah seriously reminded her two younger sisters before parting.
The two little ones also nodded repeatedly, expressing great confidence in this test.
The class bell rang soon after. Although Noah still had quite a lot to say, she could only end things hastily, wave her hand, and run toward her class.
After saying goodbye to Noah, Leon and his wife also took Luna and Little Light to the third floor, where the registration office for the enrollment test was located.
However, just as they entered the teaching building, the person who greeted them was none other than, unfortunately enough, Vice Principal Wilson.
"I already heard from the teachers in the Academic Affairs Office that your Melkvei family would register for the new batch of baby dragon enrollment tests, I didn't expect it was actually true!"
Vice Principal Wilson's eyes lit up, as if a navigator had discovered a new continent.
