Chapter 72 - Chapter 72: Clearing the Stage

Jay shook the bottle of blood, a satisfied expression appearing on his face.

However, this time he didn't drink it right away. He planned to gather the remaining few [Demons]' blood and consume it all in one go.

Otherwise, he feared that the more Muzan's blood he drank, the more severe his demonification would become.

His solution? Don't take the risk, drink all the remaining blood at once, pushing the activation progress bar to 100%, and successfully unlocking the [Demon Devourer] ability.

Once he had that ability, he wouldn't need to worry about Muzan's blood transforming him anymore.

As for where he got the bottles from...

Burp

Did you think all those marble sodas were for nothing?

Time to change locations and continue fishing.

With the experience from his previous attempts, Jay had become increasingly skilled at his demon-hunting tactics.

Each time he captured a demon and drained its blood, he did it faster and more efficiently.

Also, perhaps this dungeon space only contained low-level [Demons], because up to now, Jay hadn't encountered any particularly powerful enemies.

Come to think of it, that made sense.

The difficulty of this dungeon wasn't in the combat, but rather in how to find the target within a limited amount of time and bring them to the designated location, while also fending off attacks from [Demons] and protecting the target from being killed.

Jay's failure on his first run through the dungeon had already made that point clear.

If the difficulty were any higher, with stronger [Demons], it wouldn't be appropriate for a purple-card fusion level.

"Found him!"

Nearly three hours in, Jay finally spotted the "boar-headed boy" Inosuke Hashibira hiding up in a tree.

In his previous run, by this point he had already failed the dungeon and been teleported out.

What did that mean?

It meant his method of draining blood to lure the [Demons] away had indirectly helped the boy stay hidden.

A pleasant surprise, indeed!

At this point, Jay had already collected five bottles of demon blood.

Including the results from his first dungeon attempt, he only needed two more [Demons]' blood.

If he acted now, he might be able to complete the mission and clear the dungeon.

But he might not be able to get the remaining demon blood afterward.

Weighing his options, Jay gave the boar-headed boy a long look, then quietly backed away.

He could clear the dungeon next time.

There was no need to save activation attempts, especially since there was no extra reward for doing so.

The top priority now was gathering enough demon blood to activate [Demon Devourer]!

About another hour passed.

Once again, the system notified Jay that he had failed the dungeon and teleported him out.

As expected, Inosuke must have been found and killed by the [Demons] again.

But this time, Jay's eyes were shining brightly, with no sign of frustration or regret.

Because ten minutes before being teleported out, he had already collected the last [Demon]'s blood, and drank it all!

He had mentally prepared for the worst.

But the system came through and instantly activated the [Demon Devourer] ability, granting him an extremely special physique.

From now on, the blood and flesh of [Demons] would no longer be toxic to him

They would become a great source of nourishment!

The last [Demon] even contributed a regeneration ability to Jay.

However, he couldn't use it just yet.

Because the [Demonification] ability hadn't been activated.

Only once it was unlocked could he start using the power he had absorbed and digested from the [Demons].

"The Twelve Kizuki... This dungeon space probably doesn't contain enemies of that level."

"I'll have to hope they appear in future dungeons."

"If not, the Genya Shinazugawa card would end up being the most useless one of all."

Jay glanced at the time. After his first dungeon run, about three minutes had passed in the outside world.

The second time, it was four minutes.

Roughly speaking, one hour in the dungeon space equated to about one minute outside.

Of course, this wasn't precise.

And different dungeons might have different internal-external time ratios.

He'd have to figure that out over time.

Since he had just lost a lot of blood and only had one dungeon activation left, Jay decided to rest for a day before clearing it for real.

Meanwhile, the Marine Headquarters had already dispatched investigators.

And the one leading the team was a particularly important figure.

...

Rustle, rustle...

Three [Demons] charged at the boar-headed boy from different directions.

Relying on his beast-like instincts and extraordinary senses, the boy narrowly dodged one attack after another.

Using his animalistic combat instincts and absolute control over his body, he even managed to counterattack.

However, no matter how precisely he targeted the [Demons]' vital points, he couldn't kill them.

Even when he used his familiarity with the terrain to temporarily shake them off, they quickly caught up again.

As time went on, the boar-headed boy's stamina dropped drastically.

He had accumulated several wounds, all bleeding profusely.

This made him feel especially exhausted and weak.

At this rate, in a few more minutes, the [Demons] would likely tear him apart and devour him.

The greedy expressions on the [Demons]' faces could no longer be hidden, they were itching to feast.

But just as they lunged at him

Jay arrived in time!

With [Demon Back] activated, he showed no mercy.

With a single punch, he exploded one [Demon]'s head.

Then he tore another one apart with his bare hands.

The last [Demon] didn't flee. Instead, seizing the opportunity, it slashed its claws at Jay's chest, aiming for his heart.

But its seemingly sharp claws only pierced half an inch into Jay's skin before being stopped cold by his high-density, tense muscles!

No matter how the [Demon] screamed and pushed, it couldn't go any deeper.

Let alone rip out a heart.

At that moment, Jay tossed aside the two torn corpses, grabbed the third [Demon] by the neck

And yanked upward with full force!

His head, along with the entire spine, was forcibly yanked out by Jay with brute strength!

Bloody!

Violent!

This scene left a deep, searing shock in the heart of the boar-headed boy!

After finishing off the three [Demons], Jay immediately grabbed the boar-headed boy and dashed off at high speed in a specific direction.

At the same time, he silently let out a sigh of relief.

If he had arrived just a few minutes later, he might have faced another failure, this time a complete and irreversible one.

On the way to their destination, the heavy wounds on the boar-headed boy's body emitted a strong scent of blood, which attracted several more [Demons].

But these low-level [Demons] were no match for Jay. He dispatched them effortlessly.

Finally, just before the boar-headed boy could die from excessive blood loss, Jay brought him to the designated location.

This damned dungeon was finally cleared!
