Etien couldn't believe what he was seeing, Glen Lancaster, the Emperor himself, standing outside his bedroom door at this late hour. It was a sight he had never imagined. When he left the capital days ago, Glen had claimed he had urgent matters to tend to, crucial affairs of the empire that Etien neither knew nor cared about. Yet here he was, unannounced, at his mansion, outside his room.
"Who did you come with?"
"I used the portal in the palace." Glen answered. "I apologize for not informing you beforehand, but I figured sending a letter and waiting for you to return to the capital after reading it would take at least half a month. So instead, I had the palace's portal reactivated and came here directly."
Despite his explanation, Glen's gaze lingered on Etien, who, at that moment, was shirtless, while the fierce snowstorm raged outside. Even with the warmth of the room, Glen could still feel the cold creeping in through the cracks. Yet Etien? He seemed completely unfazed.
