Chapter 61 - Chapter 61: Galahad's Overthinking

Galahad felt like he could no longer make sense of the current situation.

"What's wrong with you?"

Seeing her "subordinate" in such a state, Artoria quickly stepped forward to check on him.

"Ah, it's nothing."

Galahad hastily shook his head.

Then, he couldn't help but ask Artoria curiously: "So… how did you pull the sword out?"

"Hmm? Well, of course, it was by Lady Morgan's orders."

Artoria replied as if it were the most natural thing in the world.

Hearing her words, Galahad couldn't help but glance at Morgan, who wore an inscrutable expression.

The problem… might lie with Morgan.

He knew that before pulling the sword, the King of Knights had merely been an ordinary squire a young boy who had no idea he would become king until he grasped the Sword in the Stone.

So, if Morgan had whispered something to him beforehand, it was entirely possible that the King of Knights had been deceived.

This woman…

She's too suspicious.

Galahad thought to himself.

At that moment, he noticed Morgan looking back at him with a cold expression before moving to stand behind Lot.

Did she see me watching her?

Is this her way of telling me to stop digging deeper?

Galahad silently speculated.

At the same time, he pondered further:

If she knew Artoria would pull the Sword in the Stone…

Then does she also know my true identity?

Or, to take it a step further what if my very appearance here is because of her?

And yet, in reality…

"That pervert's jealousy runs deep. He can't stand anyone staring at what's his. Hmph, this guy… I've given him everything. If he dares to look at other women, I'll bite him to death."

Morgan, hiding behind Lot, thought to herself.

...

Checking the time, Lot considered that since Lancelot's assassination attempt had failed, the nobles would likely begin voicing large-scale opposition soon.

So, he turned to the others and said: "Let's head back for now. This matter won't be resolved immediately. We should regroup our soldiers first. If the enemy attacks, we'll be ready to respond."

"Mhm."

Morgan and the others naturally had no objections to this suggestion.

Especially Artoria.

They'd been lying in ambush all day.

It was time to eat.

Thus, the group began making their way back to Camelot.

On the way, Artoria noticed that Galahad kept staring at her.

When no one else was paying attention, she turned to him and asked: "Why do you keep looking at me like that? As knights, we should be open with our comrades."

Meeting her gaze, Galahad hesitated before finally asking: "Sir Artoria… I wanted to ask wasn't it you who pulled the Sword in the Stone? Since you were the one who drew it, shouldn't you have become the King of Britain?"

"What are you talking about?" Artoria frowned. "This was all arranged by Lady Morgan. She entrusted this task to me because she believed in my loyalty. If it hadn't been me, it could have been anyone else. Had you been there that day, perhaps you would have been the one to draw the sword."

Galahad didn't know how to respond.

"Me? Draw the sword? I could never do such a thing."

As expected… no matter which world's Morgan it is, her skill in deception is always maxed out.

Still, compared to the Morgan of his original world, this version of her though her methods were questionable seemed to act with righteous intentions.

Then, he pressed further: "What are your thoughts on Lady Morgan's governance?"

Artoria gave Gala a strange look.

Why so many questions?

Could it be…

Did Lady Morgan send him to sound me out?

If I answer wrong, will my meals be downgraded to black bread?

"Of course, it's been excellent both in war and in ruling the people. Under Lady Morgan's leadership, we successfully defeated the Tyrant King. And politically, King Lot's governance in Camelot has been truly just, with great care for the citizens. Life in Camelot feels even better than it was under King Uther."

Artoria answered honestly though with a touch of flattery.

What she said was indeed what she believed.

But, well… she wasn't above currying favor with Morgan when it came to food.

A knight must never yield to tyranny… but a little compromise for good meals is acceptable.

Artoria reasoned.

Hearing the King of Knights speak like this, Galahad was genuinely surprised.

Was it really this good?

Before arriving here, he had seen the Camelot ruled by the King of Knights.

That city, free from the threat of enemies, where the people lived in peace, had already seemed ideal to him.

But under Morgan's rule…

Could Camelot truly be even better than under King Arthur?

...

Meanwhile, on the other side, Morgan was also considering the matter of Galahad.

She wasn't stupid.

She could tell that despite Gala following Lot, his loyalty wasn't genuine.

I need to find a way to secure his allegiance to both me and Lot.

He seems like a simple-minded kid.

Hmm…

How should I go about this?

Morgan recalled Lot's earlier thoughts.

Lot knows Galahad is the child of that purple-haired knight Lancelot.

…Ah, I've got it.

A plan formed in her mind.

At the same time, she looked at Lot, her eyes filled with affection.

That hubby of mine… always ends up giving me an advantage.

Glancing around to make sure no one was watching, she tapped Lot's shoulder.

"Lot."

"Hm?"

He turned his head

And Morgan planted a kiss on his cheek.

"Consider this your reward."

Huh?

What reward?

Lot stared at her, utterly confused.

Didn't she already give me my reward for being bait today?

Last night, she was completely exhausted.

Why is she adding another reward now?

...

Once they returned to the city, Morgan used her magecraft to send Galahad a quiet message:

"Fighting your own father must have left you quite unsettled, no?"

The words echoed in Galahad's ears.

His eyes widened in shock.

So it's true…

She knows everything about me.

Seeing his stunned expression, Morgan smiled mysteriously.

Just as he said…

Sometimes, you only need to say half.

The rest is up to their imagination.
