Okay, welcome to my little classroom where I will explain some different kinds of burns.
Hm, no, let's not do that. I don't think any of that is important right now.
Let me just go straight to the point.
The kind of burn I suffered as a result of gradual exposure. Since I started with hot water, my skin was already family with the sensation of the water... Is that the right word? Let's just go with that. And since my skin was already familiar with it, it didn't pick up the increasing hotness on time, and so before I realized how much hotter the water was, I had already been scalded a great deal on my back, not just my neck.
And the reason I thought it was just my neck was because that was where the water hit most and that part was more severe than the rest of my back.
At present, I had my entire back swelling with a thick dark red shade that made it seem like I had been going under physical abuse for a very long time.
The sight... Was sickening.
