Chapter 82 - CH: 80 - On the Moon

{Chapter: 80 - On the Moon}

The moment Carol was seized by the gangsters, chaos erupted.

It happened so suddenly that even the nearby officers were caught entirely off guard. The situation devolved within seconds—a quiet park turned battleground, sirens howling, civilians fleeing, and the gangsters barking threats while wielding assault rifles like props in a grim theater.

"Run! Get out of here, Aiden!"

Carol's voice pierced the mayhem, filled with urgency and desperation. Her eyes locked onto Aiden's figure pushing through the confused bystanders. Her hands were held tightly behind her back by one of the thugs, but even restrained, her spirit flared like a flame refusing to die.

Aiden didn't run. He didn't even slow down.

The gangsters spotted him.

"One more step and you're dead!" barked a man in a ski mask, aiming his weapon directly at Aiden's chest.

But Aiden didn't flinch. His expression remained calm, almost serene. He gave Carol a reassuring smile—one that melted her worry for a fleeting second.

"Carol," he said, his voice low but clear in the noise, "Don't be afraid. I'm coming for you. I promised, remember?"

Then it happened.

A wave of dark green energy pulsed from Aiden's body, as if the air itself trembled to obey him. A shimmering green aura enveloped Carol like a protective cocoon, lifting her gently off the ground. Before the gangsters could react, a brilliant surge exploded outward like a shockwave.

BOOM!

The blast flung the armed men backward like rag dolls. Weapons clattered to the ground. The crowd gasped. Even the police stared in disbelief as the emerald glow danced across the street.

Aiden stood at the center of it all—calm, radiant, and impossibly powerful.

"You want to kill me?" Aiden said, his voice like velvet hiding steel. "I'm afraid you lack the qualifications."

As if on cue, a massive, translucent fist of pure green light materialized beside him and smashed into the pavement—crushing one gangster into unconsciousness with a thunderous crack.

Gunfire erupted from the remaining men. The world became a blur of motion, light, and sound.

P-P-P-P-P-P-PAH!!!

The bullets never touched him. A gleaming green shield surrounded Aiden, absorbing the shots like raindrops against a window. With a flick of his wrist, dozens—no, hundreds—of tiny green daggers formed in the air like the teeth of a vengeful storm.

"Sleep," he whispered.

In a blink, the daggers streaked through the air and impaled the gangsters' weapons, pinning them to walls, light poles, and finally—harmlessly knocking each of them unconscious.

The screams of pain and panic died down.

Carol, still suspended in her glowing shield, was slowly lowered to the ground. Aiden approached her gently and extended his hand, as if they were about to step onto a ballroom floor.

"Are you alright?" he asked tenderly.

Carol looked at him like she'd never seen him before. The boy she'd flirted with days ago was now a glowing god of dark emerald light.

"You... who are you really?" she whispered.

Aiden chuckled, glancing over his shoulder at the speechless police and the murmuring civilians.

"Still me. But now you know... I carry the power of the Green Lantern."

"The Green Lantern?"

"I'll explain everything. But first, we need to leave."

Without another word, he swept her into his arms. Carol yelped softly in surprise and instinctively grabbed his shoulders. Aiden smiled and ignited his power again, a shimmering green burst launching them into the sky like a comet.

'System, My quest should be completed right?'

[Yes, Mission completed!!!]

'Good!'

---

Although it was just dealing with gangsters rather than a world crisis it was enough for Aiden. Just need to let people know the existence of green lanterns. Anyway, he's not planning to be a green lantern, this time was just for the quest.

The crowd below buzzed with excitement.

"He said Green Lantern, right? That's gotta be a hero from the comics, right?"

"Nah, that looked real. Did you see the light constructs?!"

"Dude, I'm following him online—#GreenLantern!"

"Of course! I didn't expect to see a superhero. Green Lantern...Sounds really weird!"

The crowd talked amongst themselves and it didn't take long for the name Green Lantern to spread.

Within an hour, every social feed, news station, and blog site in the city exploded with footage. Still images of Aiden's glowing figure, videos of gangsters being thrown like toys, and speculations about Coast City's newest—and possibly first—superhero.

Meanwhile, high above the clouds, Aiden carried Carol away from the chaos.

---

They landed on the edge of a hill outside the city, overlooking the glowing skyline of Coast City. The stars above shined quietly, and the distant noise of civilization seemed to fade beneath the rhythm of their heartbeats.

Carol was quiet. Her eyes still shimmered with awe.

"Don't be scared," Aiden said gently. "I'm not some alien. The ring gave me power, but I'm still the guy you kissed in the nightclub."

She looked at him with a half-smile. "I'm not scared. Just... shocked. I mean, I thought I was falling for a guy who danced well and smelled like citrus. Now I find out he's basically a warrior with space magic."

"Not magic. Willpower," Aiden said with a wink. "Which means if you will something hard enough, you can make it real. Like this."

He raised his hand and summoned a shimmering dark green flower, offering it to her.

Carol giggled and took it.

"So, what else can you do?"

Aiden's eyes twinkled. "Want to see something unforgettable?"

"I'll show you something" Aiden smiled and said "Would you like to experience how it feels to be in space?"

"S-Space? You mean..." Carol looked at Aiden with excitement. Before she could answer, he pulled her close. A green bubble formed around them and lifted them higher, faster, until the sky faded into blackness and Earth shrank beneath their feet.

Carol gasped. "W-We're in space?!"

"Welcome to orbit," Aiden whispered beside her ear. The sound made her shiver in delight.

They floated beside each other, wrapped in the protective cocoon of hard light. The Earth rotated slowly below them, like a living marble glowing blue and white.

"Gorgeous," Aiden suddenly said.

Carol Nodded "Yes, it's really beautiful. I didn't expect I would come to the space one day"

"Hehe, what I meant was, you are gorgeous Carol" Aiden said and kissed her.

Their eyes met. He reached out, pulling her gently by the waist until their lips met again, this time surrounded by stars.

The kiss was slow, tender—charged with unspoken emotion. Their silhouettes floating weightlessly like two dancers locked in a moment that could outlast time itself.

When they finally broke apart, Aiden smiled mischievously.

"Back home, there's a legend about a fairy who lives on the moon. They call her Chang'e, and she resides in the Moon Palace."

Carol tilted her head. "Is that so?"

"Yes," he said, eyes gleaming. "But the fairy I see now... her name is Carol Ferris."

He guided their bubble toward the moon's surface. When they landed softly on the dusty silver terrain, Aiden waved his hand and created a massive bed—soft, inviting, floating within a shimmering emerald sphere.

Carol laughed. "You planned this, didn't you?"

"Maybe. Maybe I just wanted our first night together to be unforgettable."

They laid side by side, gazing at the Earth above.

"It's like a dream," Carol whispered. "I didn't expect this... to fall for someone like you. To fly through space. To feel like this."

Aiden leaned in, brushing her hair from her cheek. "Want to make this moment even more special?"

Carol hesitated—blushing—but didn't look away.

"I may have to leave tomorrow," he said. "My mission isn't over. I might be gone for a while. A month... maybe more. But tonight, I'm here. Entirely yours."

She closed her eyes, smiled, and whispered.

"Then make it count."

The stars above bore silent witness as their lips met again—two hearts tethered in the cold vastness of space, burning bright with the warmth of a love newly born.
