"Okay. But listen to me. I've been around the two of you for a while now. He's been good to you, Jazz. He's been patient and protective and—hell, he looks at you like you invented gravity."
"That's before," I whispered, trying to face my messed-up thoughts. "Before the seal started to crack. Before I started having visions. Before this thing inside me woke up and started calling to him like a damn siren."
Sophia looked at me like she was trying to read a language she'd never studied. "But maybe that's just it. Maybe he couldn't control it. Maybe… maybe it's like some instinct overload thing."
I flinched. "That doesn't make it okay."
"No, no it doesn't. I'm not saying it does." She reached for my hand, squeezing gently. "I'm just trying to wrap my head around all of this. Werewolves. Bonds. Ancient seals. And now… whatever the hell just happened tonight."
Her voice dropped lower. "But you're safe now. You're here."
