The loud sound made everyone turn to look at the door. A man with a massive beer belly and a bald head walked into the restaurant, draped in the finest robes. There was a smug look on his face, as if he was on top of the world.
Following the man were three rough-looking men in leather armour. They looked more like bandits than guards.
Riven only spared the man a few seconds before returning to his food and eating. Mia had also seen this type of noble—those that flaunt it recklessly. She didn't bother paying attention to the man; she ate her food as well.
But the man didn't like that. Immediately, he laid eyes on the two of them and saw that they weren't paying attention to him. At this point, he had not seen the crest of the academy on their uniforms.
He rushed towards them, his face contorted in anger. He placed his hand on Riven's shoulder, making Riven stop eating.
