The golden sunlight streaming in through the tall arched windows warmed the grand living room with a soft, comforting light — high ceilings decorated with golden vines, walls painted ivory and moonstone blue, and a chandelier of crystalline moons that cast gentle glows upon the shining marble floor. Comforting couches of twilight hue adorned the middle, upon which Leon and his wives now sat, finally catching their breath from their long travel.
Leon relaxed back, his fingers stroking the armrest of the velvet sofa, but his eyes were intent—quietly, reflectively—outlined towards the place where Fey and the rest of the maids had disappeared moments before through the corridor. There was no desire in his look, no craving—only a faraway, thoughtful glint in his golden eyes. His lips were motionless, his brow faintly creased. Whatever frolicked behind his irises wasn't easy.
