The Hell Envoy, clad in a black mesh dress, stood respectfully beside the crystal chair and said, "The Undying Devil Dragon has returned to the City of Slaughter and is roaming the inner city every day. Glorious King, should we take this chance to kill it?"
Upon hearing this, Tang Chen, seated on the crystal throne, did not respond. He simply waved his hand, and the Hell Envoy turned into countless drops of blood. Some seeped into the ground, while others flowed into the blood-red wineglass in his hand.
After downing the freshly brewed Bloody Mary, Tang Chen sat in the dark chamber in silence.
By now, the fearless and mighty Tang Chen had long since been overtaken by the Nine-Headed Bat King. As a pet of the Rakshasa God, this bat had been scared out of its wits the moment it sensed the divine aura leaking from Yu Tianming's body. How could it possibly dare make a move?
Several days passed with no sign of the King of Slaughter. The date of his meeting with Yu Yuanzhen had arrived, and he had no choice but to leave for now.
---
In a town southeast of the Barak Kingdom, about a hundred miles from the Star Dou Great Forest—
Zhao Wuji, the Immovable King, was walking through the bustling streets with the Shrek Seven Devils.
The seven students were clearly curious about the lively town, but they didn't linger. Instead, they headed straight into a two-story tavern.
Yu Tianming tailed them from afar, relying on electromagnetic sensing.
Wearing a loose black robe with a wide hood that cast shadows over his face, he didn't stand out among the soul masters who had come to hunt in the forest. His outfit blended right in.
Seeing the Shrek group enter the tavern, Yu Tianming mingled with a group of oddly dressed soul masters and followed them inside.
The inn was a two-story building. Based on the signage, it was clear that the first floor served as a simple dining area while the second floor offered lodging. Yu Tianming found a corner on the first floor and ordered a bowl of beef noodles.
Meanwhile, the Shrek group gathered around a large round table.
Although the seven sat together, the atmosphere wasn't exactly warm. Ning Rongrong, whom Yu Tianming recognized, had her head down in thought. The curvaceous girl beside her wore a cold expression, while the only one making jokes was the chubby guy with red cockscomb hair—Ma Hongjun.
Yu Tianming's eyes landed on a rather ordinary-looking boy. Despite his age, the boy carried himself with surprising maturity. This had to be Tang San—Tang the Buddha.
Just then, another group entered the tavern—eight people, much like Shrek.
Leading them was a refined-looking middle-aged man. Handsome and neatly groomed, he wore a moon-white soul master robe embroidered with glowing silver patterns.
Behind him were seven youths—six men and one woman—around twenty years old, all dressed in the same robes but without the silver embroidery. On their left shoulders was a green ring emblem embroidered with the characters for Canghui.
Seeing the Canghui group, Yu Tianming raised an eyebrow. He had influenced this world for more than ten years, yet Shrek still ran into Canghui Academy just as in the original timeline. Was this fate's design or merely coincidence?
Not believing in fate, he guessed maybe the two academies were simply located near each other and happened to meet in this town.
Canghui Academy's garb was clearly that of soul masters. Since this town profited from hunters entering the Star Dou Forest, the innkeeper quickly greeted the lavishly dressed group with fawning politeness.
Suddenly, a lewd voice came from the Shrek table, "That girl looks nice. Boss Dai, aren't those guys from Canghui Academy?"
It was Ma Hongjun, the red-haired fatty, staring lustfully at the only girl in the Canghui group.
Next to him was a burly man with golden hair and heavy pupils—Dai Mubai, the Evil-Eyed White Tiger—bearing a close resemblance to Davis.
Dai Mubai ignored the girl's appearance and was instead annoyed that the innkeeper hadn't shown him the same respect. He sneered, "Just Canghui Academy. Nothing to brag about."
Neither Ma Hongjun nor Dai Mubai lowered their voices. Soul masters had sharper hearing than regular folks, so even in the noisy inn, the middle-aged man from Canghui heard them and frowned.
When he saw the Shrek group was just a bunch of kids, his expression darkened, but he still led his students to a nearby table without reacting.
Seeing this, Oscar—the charming boy with peach-blossom eyes—whispered to Tang San, "Looks like we've got a show."
Tang San looked puzzled. "What show?"
Oscar replied quietly, "It's part of our training. Dean Flender says a soul master who doesn't dare stir up trouble isn't a good one. Picking fights with other academies is the safest kind. Worst case, it's just a brawl."
Yu Tianming chuckled quietly from the corner. 'So they think picking fights with fellow academy students is safe? No wonder they're so cocky.'
These people were all about bullying the weak and had no bottom line. Clearly, this wasn't their first time provoking other soul masters.
Tang San relaxed upon hearing Oscar's words and even laughed. "Dean Flender's sayings could form a whole collection. Judging by their age, Canghui must be an advanced academy."
Just then, the middle-aged teacher whispered to one of his students, who promptly got up and walked straight toward Dai Mubai.
Dai Mubai didn't speak, but the contempt in his eyes was clear.
At that moment, the waiter brought the first dish to the Shrek table.
The Canghui youth seemed to have an idea. He suddenly quickened his pace and bumped into the waiter, causing the dish to fly straight at Dai Mubai's head.
Knowing that Canghui posed no real threat, and that Dai Mubai wasn't an ordinary soul master, Tang San acted quickly. He caught the flying dish with one hand, using his Crane-Catching Dragon technique to prevent any spillage. With his other hand, he pulled the waiter aside.
Then he said calmly, "Don't waste food."
His effortless display stunned everyone—Dai Mubai, the waiter, and even the rest of Shrek looked at him with new respect.
The Canghui student, hidden behind the waiter, hadn't seen Tang San's move clearly. Noticing the food didn't spill, he apologized, "So sorry."
But even as he apologized, he advanced and discreetly swept his foot at the leg of Dai Mubai's chair.
Yu Tianming shook his head. 'You go straight for provocation but use childish tricks instead of real strength? Pathetic.'
Just as the student's foot struck, Dai Mubai moved.
The third prince of the Star Luo Empire, already simmering with frustration from his fiancée Zhu Zhuqing, wasn't known for his temper. Without hesitation, he slapped the young man across the chest.
The student tried to block with both arms, but Dai Mubai's soul power burst forth, knocking his defense aside. The palm strike landed squarely on his chest.
Though well-built, the youth was sent flying like a rag doll, smashing into two tables before crashing into his own group. The teacher quickly caught him, but the youth coughed up blood and slumped in his arms.
Dai Mubai stood tall, stretched with a smirk, and said, "Oops, slipped." His arrogant and dismissive tone made even his allies want to punch him.
The inn was in an uproar. Patrons near both tables quickly backed away but stayed to watch the drama unfold.
Humiliated in public, the Canghui students couldn't hold back. The remaining six stood up, ready to retaliate, but their teacher held them back.
He glared at Dai Mubai. "Which academy are you brats from?"
Dai Mubai's evil eyes glinted. "You want to talk status? You're not qualified." Then he sat back down.
That was the last straw. The teacher's face darkened. "What a bunch of arrogant brats. Teach them a lesson."
The students had been itching to fight. The moment he gave the order, they charged.
But before they could reach the table, a petite girl with bunny-like hair ornaments stepped in front of them and said sweetly, "Hi there, big brothers."
The five young men froze. A sweet little girl? Their murderous aura disappeared instantly as they hesitated.
And just then, Xiao Wu moved.
Pretending to stumble, she fell forward into one of the Canghui students. Caught off guard, two of them were immediately thrown aside by her grappling technique.
Yu Tianming thought, 'With personalities like that, no wonder Tang San and Xiao Wu got along so quickly with Dai Mubai, Ma Hongjun, and Oscar.'
After Xiao Wu's surprise attack, the rest of Canghui stopped holding back. Soul rings lit up—one white and one yellow each.
Seeing this, the Shrek group stood up as well. Dai Mubai, still the most arrogant, sneered, "So this is what an advanced academy teaches? You still have ten-year soul rings?"
"White Tiger, Possession!"
A pale white light burst from his body. Bones cracked and muscles swelled, tearing his shirt.
His hands doubled in size, covered in white fur. Razor-sharp claws extended and retracted, each blade-like talon eight inches long.
His golden hair turned mostly white, streaked with black.
A chilling aura of death radiated from him. Three glowing soul rings—two yellow, one purple—rose from his feet, releasing an overwhelming force.
Canghui's students, seeing his thousand-year purple ring, trembled and backed away. They knew the gap between one white-yellow ring combo and two yellow-one purple was immense.
Just the display alone was enough to crush their will to fight.
Dai Mubai—the disgraced second prince of the Star Luo Empire who had fled to Shrek—smirked in the face of the inn's awestruck patrons. His dominance was at its peak.
