~Micheal's POV
I closed the door behind me and let out a quiet sigh, watching as she disappeared down the street. Something about the way she carried herself today unsettled me. Her usual confidence seemed dimmed, replaced by a distant, almost haunted look. I had noticed the paleness of her skin, the dark circles under her eyes, and the slight tremble in her fingers when she thought no one was looking.
It wasn't like her to look so… fragile.
I shook my head, pushing the thoughts aside as I made my way back to my office. There was no point in overthinking it. Bella was strong. Whatever it was, she would handle it. And yet, a small voice in my mind nagged at me, whispering that something wasn't right.
Settling into my chair, I pulled out my phone and dialed Alex's number. The line rang twice before he picked up.
"Michael." His voice was clipped, as usual. Always straight to the point.
"How are you?" I asked, leaning back in my chair.
