Kael woke up at his own pace.
When he returned to his room, neither Mousan nor Elmyra were there. They had likely gone out to train. This was his final day in the White City, and he intended to enjoy it as much as possible—to rest, to breathe, to take in the city's atmosphere.
He showered leisurely, then slipped into the same black outfit Valdren had gifted him. After that, he made his way to the academy cafeteria, where he ate his breakfast slowly, savoring every bite as if it were a rare delicacy.
And once he was done, he got a second helping. Then a third.
By the time he left, his belly was full and his soul strangely content.
He headed toward the Kaldras estate. The guards at the entrance stopped him—stern, silent. But just as he was about to turn away, they unexpectedly stepped aside, wordlessly letting him in.
Kael smiled faintly.
'Selene must've felt I was coming.'
