Robert shook his head, sat down in his spot, baited his hook, cast his line, and took out a hot dog to eat. For him now, eating or not eating didn't really matter; the Sun could provide him with enough energy. Eating was mainly for enjoyment. This hot dog tasted pretty good.
Picnicking and fishing, without the pressures of life or work, Robert was living a carefree life.
Crack!
Crack!
Behind him, the sound of snapping branches suddenly came. It sounded as if some kind of wild beast was approaching. Robert didn't care. Even the most valiant brown bear in the mountains was just a pet to him. If it annoyed him, he might even have to taste what bear paw actually tasted like.
Robert continued eating his food, completely unconcerned. The sound of the branches snapping grew closer and closer, as if some large animal was running through the bushes.
Rustle!
The bushes rustled, and Robert turned his head to look. A visible look of astonishment appeared on his face.
"What are you doing here?!"
"What are you doing here?"
The unison tone sounded almost simultaneously. Robert's expression was surprised. Standing before him was none other than the history teacher from the Mutant Academy, the very famous Mutant, Wolverine!
However, the current Wolverine was in a very sorry state. The clothes on his body were no different from a beggar's; they had become strips of cloth, covered in bloodstains. It was unclear whether the blood was from his enemies or himself. If it weren't for his outstanding self-healing ability, he would probably be a person begging for help in front of Robert.
"What happened to you? Who were you fighting?" Robert asked.
Wolverine Logan hesitated for a moment before pretending to say nonchalantly, "Just some old friends. It's nothing serious."
Logan was a little embarrassed. He thought this was an enemy, so he followed his Beast senses. He didn't expect that his student would be here. And he was happily fishing.
Robert saw his embarrassed appearance clearly. Even Logan was a little embarrassed. Fortunately, Robert had a high EQ and didn't mention it.
"You must be tired after fighting for so long. Why don't you go back to New York to tidy up, and we can talk again?" Robert said with a smile.
"Go back to New York?"
"I still have things to do; I can't go back." Logan shook his head decisively.
"Don't worry, it will be quick." A bright smile appeared on Robert's face. With a wave of his hand, a golden Portal formed. "This is Professor Charles's Villa in New York; go in and rest. I don't think you want to go back to the X-Men Academy right now. After ten minutes, I'll pick you up."
Logan looked at the Portal in front of Robert and the scene of the Villa inside. His eyeballs almost popped out, and then he slowly felt envy. "How many abilities do you have?"
"Space teleportation is not something everyone has." Logan couldn't help but ask.
"This doesn't count as an ability; it's just a small trick. It should be considered a type of magic," Robert said casually.
Wolverine Logan's teeth ached a little. Too Versailles! Traveling easily thousands of kilometers, and he calls it a small trick? If other people had such powerful methods, they would probably show off to the heavens. This kind of ability to transfer at will could be used not only in life but in so many more ways! Fortunately, Robert was on their side.
With a sigh of relief, Wolverine entered the Portal and arrived at Professor Charles's Villa. Robert then closed the Portal and focused on fishing.
Chapter 42: Give me a scratch? Is Adamantium like this?
Robert didn't wait long. Ten minutes passed in the blink of an eye. Robert opened the Portal. Wolverine Logan walked out wearing a suit of clothes that didn't quite fit. Robert curled his lips and didn't say anything; it was better than before. His clothes just now could be said to be almost the same as running naked.
"Teacher Logan, what exactly did you come here for?" Robert asked. "Shouldn't you still be at the X-Men Academy these days?"
After the Battle of New York, as a member of the X-Men, Wolverine had a lot to deal with. Although his cultural level wasn't high, he had been dealing with people for more than a hundred years. How could he have time to run to this godforsaken place?
Hearing Robert's question, Wolverine recalled some things, and a trace of anger flashed across his face. In the end, he still said, "This is an old grievance from a long time ago. I'm just here to settle it."
Wolverine didn't want to involve Robert in his affairs, so he chose to hide it. Robert, however, had the intelligence and abilities of the Joker, so he could naturally see through Wolverine's heart. He didn't choose to expose it, just smiled, and said, "Then you go. I'm here. If you need help, feel free to come to me."
After saying that, he greeted Wolverine and continued to sit in his place, happily fishing.
Logan also adapted to Robert's style and wasn't someone who liked to be polite. Turning his head, he looked at the silent dam over there, and a fierce light like a beast flashed in his eyes. Even the steel claws on both hands stretched out unconsciously. Without the slightest hesitation, Wolverine rushed toward the dam.
Robert saw it but didn't care.
Councilor William's Plan
Back in the city, Councilor William paced back and forth in his office, his mind occupied with complex thoughts. He had just received a disturbing report. The tension between the mutant factions was rising, and as a key figure in the council, he knew he couldn't sit idle.
"Ryan, what's the latest update?" William asked, looking at his trusted assistant.
Ryan, who had been standing nearby, nodded. "There's been an escalation near the northern sector. Alanna's forces have been spotted near the borders, and we believe they're planning something big. I think we should prepare for a confrontation."
William's expression hardened. "I'll inform the others. We need to ensure that we can control this situation without causing unnecessary chaos."
"Understood," Ryan replied, and he quickly left the room to relay the message.
William knew that the balance between humans and mutants was fragile. If something went wrong, it could mean disaster for both sides.
The Encounter with Seraphina
Meanwhile, in a remote part of the city, Seraphina walked along the quiet streets. Her elegant and mysterious aura seemed to make the air around her shimmer. She had been keeping a low profile for years, but her presence was always felt by those who knew her true power.
Her phone buzzed, and she checked the message. It was from Robert. "We may need your assistance soon. Things are getting complicated."
Seraphina smiled to herself. "Always a pleasure to assist, Robert," she whispered softly, her voice barely audible. She could sense that the situation was about to take a turn, and she was ready.
Fleming and Eowyn's Investigation
Elsewhere, Fleming and Eowyn were deep into their investigation. They had been following a trail of suspicious activities that seemed to involve a secret group working behind the scenes. The mutants' presence in the city was becoming more pronounced, and they were starting to question who was pulling the strings.
"We need to get to the bottom of this," Fleming said, examining the documents they had gathered.
Eowyn nodded. "The evidence points to something far more dangerous than we initially thought. We're dealing with a covert operation, and if we don't act fast, it could escalate quickly."
Fleming glanced at Eowyn, knowing that they were both in deep. But neither of them was willing to back down from the challenge. They had a duty to protect the city and its inhabitants.
Rock's Unexpected Appearance
Back at Robert's location, Rock arrived unexpectedly, having followed a trail of energy signatures that led him here. He hadn't expected to find Robert in the midst of his fishing expedition, but he wasn't going to let that stop him.
"Robert, I've got news," Rock said, his voice tinged with urgency.
Robert turned and raised an eyebrow. "What's the rush, Rock? You look like you've been running from something."
"I have," Rock said, looking around cautiously. "There's a new player in town. They're powerful, and they're coming for us."
Robert nodded gravely. "I knew this day would come. Get ready, Rock. We have a lot to do."
The tension in the air grew as the groups moved closer to a confrontation that would test the limits of their abilities and their loyalty to each other. Would they be able to handle the rising threats, or would they crumble under pressure?
