"Ugggh, you spooked me! Why do you always like to appear out of nowhere?" I asked, placing a hand on my chest. "And also, I thought you said you were coming in five days' time. This is just the second day."
"Yes, that was my plan… until you called me," she said casually.
"How?" I asked, frowning. "I just whispered your name on the book."
"Who knows? That book is full of wonders," she replied, pointing to the book I had thrown on the floor after she startled me. "It was passed down from our ancestors. I do not even know if it originally belonged to Zuri, but I know it holds more power than one can fathom."
"I can see that," I muttered. "How can an ordinary book take me down someone's past?" I added with a hint of sarcasm.
"Why did you call for me? Is it Jake?" she asked, a bit of nervousness slipping into her voice.
"No… but how do you know Jake?" I turned to her, narrowing my eyes suspiciously.
