He had definitely confirmed that the item he was looking for was on them, but he wasn't strong enough to fight Johnnie right now.
The last attack from Johnnie could have killed him instantly. It was the Seraphim Armor effect — a guaranteed one-hit kill, with a 5% chance to trigger absolute defense, only taking 1 point of damage.

He remembered there was a Portal Scroll, which could randomly teleport the user to another location, helping escape the battlefield.
