Chapter 247: Crap, I've Become a Stand-in
If it were anyone else who not only mentioned the Alien Hero Name but also used memes from other Comics, Yang Le might feel nervous. However, since it was Gwenpool, Yang Le didn't have that feeling.
In the Setting, Gwenpool's original Name was Gwen Poole. The Code Name "Gwenpool" came from a mistake made by the person who made her Uniform. They misread "Poole" as "pool," hence the Name Gwenpool.
Gwenpool is different from other Marvel Characters. Simply put, she's similar to Yang Le – both are Ordinary Person from the 'Real Universe' who, through various Coincidence, arrived in the Marvel Universe and began their own adventures, commonly known as Transmigrant.
However, Gwenpool doesn't have a Little Broken Watch, nor does she possess Deadpool's super regeneration Ability. In fact, initially, she was just a weak Ordinary Person, a homebody girl who was extremely fond of various Comics, Animation, and Games. It wasn't until MODOK gave her Emergency training that she gained combat Ability.
But don't underestimate Gwenpool because of these things. She possesses another Ability that even Deadpool can't compare to: she has pushed breaking the Fourth Wall to its extreme. Gwenpool can move freely between the panels of Comics, meaning she isn't restricted by the panel layout and is arguably the freest person in the Comics Universe.
With this Ability, she can freely travel through the Universe, and no one can stop her. No matter how powerful or omnipotent you are, you can't prevent Gwenpool's movements.
This is why Gwenpool could come to this Universe, but what is Gwenpool's purpose in coming to this Universe?
"Hello! I'm Gwenpool, originally Gwen Poole." Gwenpool extended her Hand towards Yang Le, looking at him with expectant eyes. "Same Name as the Gwen you like!"
"I'm Yang Le." Yang Le moved Gwen a few steps closer, just enough to reach her outstretched Hand.
"You seem to know a lot about me." Yang Le voiced his inner question. It didn't make sense; wasn't Gwenpool only supposed to know about Comics Characters? Even if she knew about Ben 10, she shouldn't know about him.
"Of course!" Gwenpool grasped Yang Le's pincers in Polaris State and said excitedly, "I'm your Fans! I especially love the crossover Comics of Ben 10 and Marvel starring you! Oh! Although your Setting is from the Real World, you probably don't understand what I'm saying. Just pretend I'm talking to myself."
Gwenpool saw Yang Le freeze and thought he was frightened by her words, so she immediately tried to explain, but her Explanation sounded weak.
Yang Le was indeed stunned by Gwenpool's words. He had become a Comics Character himself? Crap, had he become a stand-in?
"My Comics?" Yang Le snapped back to Reality. "What kind of Comics is it?"
"You can accept it? No wonder you're the Character I like." Gwen seemed even happier. "Simply put, it's a series of Comics themed around Multiverse Travel. It's quite popular because of its unrestrained and imaginative content."
Yang Le nodded. Gwen's description was somewhat similar to what he had experienced, but Yang Le didn't really mind. After all, in this boundless Multiverse, anything was possible. The Comics he had read might be someone else's life, and his own experiences could very well become Comics for others to pass the Time.
Perhaps, he was even the protagonist of some novel.
"Alright then, Gwenpool." Yang Le withdrew his wandering Thought and placed Gwenpool on the Ground. "Why did you come to this Universe?"
He decided to stop overthinking and figure out the current situation first.
"Of course, to see you." Gwenpool acted like a devoted fan, then turned a disdainful gaze towards something behind her.
"And also to resolve some Business."
Hearing this, Yang Le turned his Line of Sight to where Gwenpool was looking. The 'something' Gwenpool mentioned must be the person lying on the Ground over there. Unfortunately, the Light was too dim, and Yang Le couldn't make out the person's True identity.
A White Light flashed, and Yang Le transformed again, becoming an Alien Hero covered in Rock and engulfed in Flame – it was…
"Heatblast!" Gwenpool jumped up excitedly. "One of my favorite Alien Hero!"
Hey! Miss, that's my Work!
"Sorry." Gwenpool made a Cute face towards the Ceiling.
Yang Le ignored Gwenpool, who was acting crazy on the side (Gwenpool: Who are you calling crazy!), raised a Finger, and flicked a ball of Flame from his Finger above the person lying on the Ground. The Flame floated in Mid-air like an Electric Light, illuminating the person's appearance.
Seeing the person's Clothes and face clearly, Yang Le said in Surprise, "Miles?"
Miles looked very disheveled, covered in dust, his Clothes soiled. His usually fluffy hairstyle was plastered to his scalp, and there was some dark red on the Ground near his Forehead. Yang Le guessed it was Blood.
The culprit of all this, Gwenpool, struck a dramatic Gesture, proclaiming, "Ta-da! That's right, it's that ungrateful brat. How about it? Did I help you vent some anger?"
"You really did." Yang Le nodded subconsciously. Putting aside everything else, Yang Le did feel quite relieved.
"But were you trying to kill him just now?" Yang Le looked at Gwenpool, puzzled. He remembered Gwenpool had interacted with Miles before, but he didn't recall their interactions being this bloody.
"That's right!" Gwenpool put her hands on her hips, her Nose practically pointing to the sky. "I've been annoyed with him for ages! Besides, if I kill Spider-Kid Miles, my Comics sales will definitely skyrocket because of Skin color. Bad publicity is still publicity, right?"
"You've really mastered the internet trends." Yang Le looked at Gwenpool, his face full of black lines. Unexpectedly, she looked back at him with starry eyes and took out her Mobile phone from her waist pouch, aiming the Camera at him.
"I've always wanted to see you make this face." Gwenpool snapped Photos incessantly, click, click, click. Heatblast himself was a Light source, so Gwenpool didn't even need to use the flash.
"I have a whole collection of Alien Hero meme faces, but this is really the first time I've seen it in person."
Yang Le noticed Gwen's Mobile phone case. It had a pink background with a white Omnitrix Symbol outlined on it, along with mini avatar stickers of various Alien Hero, and even a chibi version of Yang Le.
"Fire Baby! Mommy loves you!" Gwen cupped her hands around her mouth, making a Loudspeaker shape.
'Crap, folks, I've run into a weirdo.' Yang Le Thought. 'And she's taking Photos of me right in front of my face. This Business isn't settled without 500 Penguin Coin, no matter who it is.'
Perhaps it had been too long since he'd encountered someone like Gwenpool, but a lot of absurd thoughts couldn't help but surface in Yang Le's mind. Of course, he couldn't say them out loud; after all, Gwenpool admired him so much, and Yang Le still had his Idol image to maintain.
However, the two people caught up in their abstract thoughts both forgot that there was someone lying on the Ground not far from them.
