Chapter 47: Pincer Pokémon
~Azure S. POV~
[Kanto Region, Nighttime, Route 16]
Setting up camp for the night, Pikachu and Eevee helped collect firewood nearby to use to set up in the middle. Gastly and I are prepping the food of Poke Blocks, Kibble, and Berries for them.
Dragonair gracefully patrolled the area, ensuring no Wild Pokémon would bother us. And the newbie Scyther was patrolling with Growlithe to ensure no Wild Pokémon would interfere with cooking food.
After making dinner for everyone, I had them dig in, eating blissfully satisfied with the options. I should thank Erika for giving me a 3-month supply of Pokémon food and for helping her control the situation in the Game Corner yesterday.
When everyone finished eating, they were each enjoying their time off. Pikachu and Dragonair discussed some topics while teaching the Dragon Pokémon how to perform a Thunderbolt.
Growlithe eventually joined them in the discussion of learning Electric-type moves. I mentioned he could learn the move Wild Charge and that he should get some pointers from Pikachu on how to use Electric-type moves.
Eevee was near me, basking in the moonlight in hopes of triggering her Umbreon evolution to have her Dark Typing. Gastly was chilling around the campfire, happily enjoying our company.
Scyther was wary of us being the new guy. But I also asked Scyther how he likes to fight since he can be an assassin or warrior-based fighter.
Scyther's opinion is also critical for this. If he wants to fight like an assassin, I don't want to forbid it.
After that, we began to bond for an hour, discussing the idea. I told him the best options and told him the pros and cons of each fighting style. Explaining my reasoning and asking Sycther how he would like to fight.
Judging from the conversation, Scyther was very happy to hear his thoughts and me asking him what he thought was best for him. From our conversation, Scyther would like to fight like a Warrior.
After seeing Pikachu's moves and explaining to him the Styles, Scyther seemed extremely eager to become stronger. I asked Pikachu to show demonstrations of Agile Style Quick Attack for Sycther to get an idea of how the Styles worked in battle with pros and cons to them, of course.
Having his interest, I spoke to Scyther in a curious tone, taking out a tightly sealed container containing metallic fluid that I had from Vermillion City in a calm tone, "I have something that may help you, Scyther. This is a Metal Coat composition I got from Vermillion City, battling against Team Rocket Admin Lt. Surge."
Scyther, still contemplative, scratched its head in curiosity. I proceeded to present three drawings to Scyther, laying out its evolutionary choices, shocking him as I explained, "You have three options. 1 is to remain the same. 2 Apply the Metal Coat to become the very rare Steel/Bug Type Scizor. Or 3, we find an Augurite Stone to help you become Kleavor, a Rock/Bug Type."
Scyther seemed shocked that he was able to evolve, and I chuckled at his reaction. But I continued explaining, "Keep in mind that there is no significant difference in growth rate among the three. You might get a short boost from evolution, and that's all."
Everyone fell into a deep, thoughtful silence as I awaited Scyther's decision. Considering his fierce determination and stubbornness, not going down against Pikachu helps a lot in determining which direction my remarkable Pokémon to take.
Scyther confronted the three distinct evolutionary choices before it, displaying a range of facial expressions and gestures that mirrored the complexity of its decision-making process. Its large compound eyes glistened with a mixture of thoughts as it examined the drawings.
The initial puzzlement transformed into a thoughtful gaze, its razor-sharp scythes subtly twitching in tandem with its internal deliberations. Scyther's antenna-like appendages, normally held upright in a sign of alertness, are now slightly lowered, indicating a sense of introspection.
Scyther took a moment, glancing towards my Pokémon. His eyes narrowed as I asked, seeing his determined expression, "Based on your expressions, I can see that you don't mind evolving, don't you?"
That is a serious question to ask because he must shed the body he was born with. It's an important step for every Pokémon, as I need confirmation from Scyther.
Scyther gave me his answer by nodding, which made me sigh in relief. Handing him the Metal Coat, I grinned in a happy tone, "Good. No matter what choice you made, I'll be happy to accept your choice."
It was as if Scyther had resolved, a choice influenced not just by the presented options but also by its innate nature – a creature driven by warrior instincts. He grabbed hold of the Metal Coat, and the transformation was set in motion.
*Shiii*
A flash of light between the two happened as the Metal Coat vanished, infusing into Scyther's form, changing. Scyther – no Scizor is born as he opened his eyes, giving his battle cry, "SCIZOR!"
Scizor is a bipedal, insectoid Pokémon with a red, metallic exoskeleton. It has gray, retractable forewings and hind wings with simple, curved venation. Its rounded head has three blunt horns extending above its forehead and eyes with dark yellow irises. Scizor's thin, black neck connects to a black, teardrop-shaped patch on its thorax.
Scizor has broad shoulders and thin, segmented arms ending in large, round pincers, which comprise a third of Scizor's body weight. Scizor has a large, rounded abdomen with three black, chevron-shaped stripes extending from its waist down its front; female Scizor has a larger abdomen than male Scizor.
Scizor's legs are defined by large hip joints, thin thighs, and wide calves, and its feet end in a clawed toe on each side. Its arms appear like pincers of animals from the crustacean group, like crabs, and the presence of markings resembling eyes gives the illusion of additional heads.
Everyone congratulated Scizor on his evolution as the Pincer Pokémon looked at his new form. He was marveling at the changes as I checked my Arc Phone for my Pokémon's new power.

[Scizor the Pincer Pokémon. Scizor's body and muscles are made of metal that is as hard as steel, with pincers strong enough to crush any hard object. They can be opened and closed like jaws and are patterned with black eyespots with yellow "pupils". It will raise its pincers and wave them around to scare off predators or foes, giving it the appearance of having three heads.
When it identifies an enemy, Scizor will use its pincers to beat up the opponent to the point that there is nothing but scrap left afterwards. Scizor is normally incapable of flight, instead, it quickly flaps its wings to regulate its body temperature to prevent itself from becoming too hot and melting, although it still can hover and glide for short distances. It has tremendous power despite its slim body. Scizor is rarely found in the wild, though it can be found in grasslands.]
Grinning happily, I see that Scizor is admiring his – huh? I felt my feet tremble, and not only that, but my Pokémon became alert.
*RMBL*
Just then, a tremor shook the ground. The trees swayed, and the earth rumbled beneath their feet. A massive figure emerged from the undergrowth, its eyes glowing red in the darkness. It was a Rhyhorn, a Rock/Ground type known for its incredible strength and impenetrable defense.
Rhyhorn is a rhinoceros-like Pokémon with a body covered in gray, rocky plates. Its underside and rear are smooth, and it has four short legs with two claws on each foot. It has a triangular head with narrow, red eyes, two fangs protruding from its upper jaw, small, triangular openings on the upper sides, and a short horn on the tip of its snout. A spiked ridge runs along its back. In addition to its rocky hide, its bones are a thousand times harder than human bones.
The Rhyhorn charged towards the camp, its horn lowered, ready to strike with a roar, "Raowr!"
*THUD*
With each step he made, the ground trembled. My team got ready to prepare for fighting against Rhyhorn, but I saw Scizor's eyes in anticipation.
Smirking at this despite the level difference, my Scizor wants to fight. And with type advantage might as well see how we fare fighting together.
Raising my hand, signaling my team to stop, I said calmly, "No worries. Let's see if Scizor handles this. Right?"
Scizor looked surprised before slyly grinning with a cry, agreeing, "Sci? Scizor!"
*Clamp*
Scizor's clampers clamped at the ready, wanting to prove himself. I shouted, "Scizor, this is your chance! Show me what you can do!"
Scizor roared, accepting the challenge. It stood its ground, its pincers crackling with energy as I ordered, "Metal Claw!"
*Swooosh*
Scizor launched himself towards the Rhyhorn, his pincers glowing with metallic energy. He struck the Rhyhorn's side with a deafening clang, the force of the blow sending shockwaves through the air.
*CLANG*
The Rhyhorn stumbled, momentarily stunned. But I noticed that Scizor's aura flared red, getting the attack boost.
It retaliated with a Rock Blast attack, launching a barrage of boulders towards Scizor. I ordered "Iron Defense!"
*Shinng*
*CLANG*
Scizor's body shone a bright gray color around its body hardening. And the Rock Blast blasted Scizor, skidding across the ground. Other than taking small damage, Scizor grinned, seeing his new Steel Type making Rock Type Moves neutral damage.
Scizor, now stronger and sturdier than ever before, rushed forward. I ordered, "Use Bullet Punch and Agility!"
*Swooosh*
One of Scizor's claws glows light blue, and it repeatedly punches the Rhyhorn. Using Agility, he maneuvered around, striking the Rhyhorn from all sides.
*SMASH*
*SMASH*
Scizor unleashed a rapid-fire barrage of punches, each strike infused with steel energy. The punches struck the Rhyhorn's hide, chipping away at its tough exterior.
The Rhyhorn roared in pain and frustration. It charged again, determined to crush Scizor beneath its massive weight.
I shouted quickly at Scizor, "Quick Attack to dodge!"
*Swooosh*
Moving back in time, avoiding being slammed by Rhyhorn's Body Slam. And just as I yelled out, "Now! Metal Claw!"
*SHINNG*
With a final roar, it unleashed a devastating Metal Claw attack, striking the Rhyhorn's body with all its might. The stones over its body shattered, sending fragments of rock flying through the air.
The Rhyhorn cried out in agony, collapsing to the ground, defeated. Silence descended upon the clearing.
The only sound was the crackling of the fire and the heavy breathing of Scizor. I approached Scizor, my expression filled with pride as I said proudly, "You did it, Scizor. You were amazing."
Scizor raised its pincers in triumph. It had proven its strength, its value to the team. It was ready for whatever challenges lay ahead.
My eyes drifted to the Rhyhorn, completely beaten down. Tossing a Poke Ball at it was fully captured inside without any resistance.
*BON*
When I did so, I got a text screen that showed up. And this was related to the Boxes I have been emptying till now.
[Where do you want to send Rhyhorn?
>Add to your Party
>See Rhyhorn's summary
>Check summaries on your Party Pokémon
>Send to your Boxes]
I figured this would be the case. It's not like I needed one if I'm being honest, but I also want to know how this Rhyhorn would react to my Boxes.
However, remembering how Pokémon will be asleep and safe inside the Boxes while their consciousness is in the Dream World, along with no fear of hunger, I couldn't just force the Rhyhorn with me. I'll ask if he wants to join personally later, seeing I've damaged him badly in the battle.
*Shiii*
Clicking on the [Send to your Boxes] option, the Poke Ball vanished. The light entered my Arc Phone, seeing it vanish safely into my [Boxes] for safekeeping. Seems like my Pokémon noticed what happened to Rhyhorn's Poke Ball as I took the time to explain to them.
After that, the night wore on, and we gathered around the fire, sharing stories and laughter. They were my family, bound together by our shared dreams and their unwavering loyalty towards me.
With Scizor now by our side, we were ready to face whatever the future held. The path ahead was long and arduous, but we would face it together, as a team, our bonds forged in the fires of battle, our spirits soaring towards the horizon.
Smiling at this, I can't wait to see what kind of Pokémon we'll encounter along the way. But one can't get too lazy now, I still must be the best that I can be.
