Chapter 67: Gravity Training
~Azure S. POV~
[Kanto Region, Next Day, Viridian Forest – Hidden Grotto]
*Swoosh*
Flying on top of Dragonair, we arrived at our destination, Viridian Forest. Smiling at the scene before me, it has been a while since I've been here.
Pikachu was over my shoulder, being alert as usual. And then there was Eevee, cuddled in my hoodie as a hammock.
*Thud*
Landing down onto the ground, I took in a deep breath as we dropped into a clearing within a Hidden Grotto. Away from troublesome people and here to grind on the savage Pokémon that live around here.
Taking out my Arc Phone, I smirked seeing the progress my team had made. Battling Giovanni pushed them beyond their limits and grew exponentially stronger.

Tch. I felt my lips twitch seeing Dragonair needing at least 4 more levels to finally evolve, just so close.
Sighing out loud, I brought out all my Poke Balls from my belt as I tossed them into the air in a happy tone, "Alright, everyone, come out! We got some grinding to do!"
*Pop*
My Pokémon appeared with Arcanine, Gengar, and Scizor out. They looked at me happily as I brought out the Poke Balls I held in the boxes as I said happily, "Alright, everyone, we'll be beginning our training against the Pokémon here in Viridian Forest. But first, let's take care of the newcomers, greeting them!"
*Pop*
Coming out of their Poke Balls, Lapras and Seadra plopped into the lake within the Hidden Grotto, greeting me happily. But the other four took some time to adjust as they saw me for the first time.
They rubbed their eyes as I greeted them in a welcoming tone, "Hello, you three, I'm Azure Sky, your new trainer. The guy who kicked your old trainer asses from Team Rocket. And hello, Porygon, glad we got to meet personally."
They blinked as Chansey crossed her arms defiantly, looking at me warily. Abra gazed at me curiously, tilting its fox-like head. Porygon came forward as I rubbed its digital flat-sided surface, and it was affectionate with me.
They were nervous seeing me for the first time. Thus, I tried to be friendly with them as I said calmly, "Hey guys, I'm Azure Sky. Your new Trainer and not those Team Rocket Grunts, I promise to take care of you all, okay?"
Returning to the topic at hand, I gazed over my team, and the newcomers listened as I clapped my hands together, getting their attention in a serious tone, said, "Alright! With the Pokémon League occuring in just a few days, we need to be prepared for any challenges ahead! So, for the remainder of our time will train in Viridian Forest under Gravity Training and battling against the savage Pokémon here to increase our experience!"
Then I turned my head to the newcomers as I softly said calmly, getting their attention, "And as for you three, you aren't ready yet for the big leagues. You need to be strong enough for that, but for now, I'll have you train to help you lot reach the main guy's levels soon."
When I mentioned training, my main team smirked, with a challenging glint in their eyes, and saw their training in motion. I smirked, seeing that they had the drive to continue as I began to conduct my secret weapon.
The best training method, in my opinion. Gravity Training.
Smiling at this, I ordered Porygon a command as I say curiously, "Porygon use Gravity on them to increase the weight by… 1.2x times Earth's gravity, can you do it?"
*Thud*
Porygon bobbed its head as it used Gravity. Within my main Pokémon area, they felt a slight increase in gravity, but continued their training, trying to get used to the sudden shift of invisible weights pulling them down.
Abra looked a bit nervous, gesturing itself pointing its claw at itself nervously, muttering, "A… Abra…?"
Tilting my head a bit, confused, I quickly realized what Abra meant. Oh no, something like this wouldn't do well for my Abra.
His too frail currently to do any physical training like this. Not only that, I want to help ease him into my team training willingly, as I'm not sure how Team Rocket Grunts trained their Pokémon; I bet it wasn't without any concern for them.
I shook my head, letting my intentions with Abra be clear as I kneeled to his level, rubbing his head, assuring his fears in a calm tone, "Nah. I know Gravity Training is suited to the physical fighters, and till you evolve, we'll stick to Move training of learning Agile and Strong style. I'm not gonna force you into something you don't like or do. At the very least, try to pick up Porygon's moves, especially Gravity, to help the others in future training sessions or practice your conjurations."
Abra breathed a sigh of relief as it began to levitate over to Porygon, studying the effects of Gravity. Having Abra be this chill and listening to me lifts my heart a bit, seeing that he was distrustful of humans when the Good Gym Leaders confiscated the Grunts' Pokémon.
Although I do know that training an Abra is difficult from some sources, due to its 8-hour cycle of being awake before going into a deep sleep for the next 16 hours. Fortunately, I have a workaround with the Poke Flute at the ready.
*Tap*
It was when I felt a tap over my shoulder, seeing Chansey as she gave me her egg, happily crying out, "Chansey! Chansey!"
I smiled, rubbing Chansey's head as I said calmly, appreciating the Egg Pokémon, "No worries, Chansey. I'm not gonna force you to fight like the others, I want you to help them and try to learn the move Gravity like Abra. Just be our healer and I'll be sure to make you happy, okay?"
Chansey nodded her head happily. Her giving me her egg showed a lot of trust, as Chansey will never share its egg with those with evil hearts, and that, having a Chansey, is considered incredibly lucky.
I had a sneaking suspicion that Chansey didn't like her trainer was probably most likely captured from the Safari Zone, with Grunts seemingly getting other rare Pokémon. I guess she must have spoken with Lapras and Seadra from the Dream World, greeting each other as if they had known each other before I got the chance to introduce myself.
I guess saving Pokémon from Team Rocket with other victims seems to have made a good impression on me. Good.
With a few days left before the Pokémon League, I know I'll be in for a tough time ahead. No doubt there will be more people skilled than me or surpassing me, I'll face ahead in future challenges head-on.
Not only should I help my Pokémon get some move coverage in future rounds ahead of us. I think some set-up moves are needed, along with them learning to try new moves, but first I gotta teach Pikachu some new moves.
Moves that'll be game-breaking. Hmm… maybe teaching Pikachu how to perform Fly with the HM I have would work, as I recall that a Pikachu can learn the move Fly, but I didn't know how.
I mean it's worth a shot. Oh! I've also gotta teach it Magnet Rise since learning that would've been useful in dealing with Giovanni… and probably any other Pokémon unfortunate enough to battle against Pikachu that can do almost anything.
Heh. Thank you, Pokémon Company, for making Pikachu such a lovable and broken mascot in the Pokémon world. But looking at Dragonair doing her training, if she manages to evolve into Dragonite before the match, then I'll have two aces in my hands…
No 3 aces at the ready. Partner Pikachu. Arcanine. And Dragonite. Not only that I also can't ignore my other Pokémon skills too in the process. It's time to grind like my life depends on it!
