The next morning, Victor's call came through just as sunlight spilled into the quiet room. Elena reached for her phone, her heart skipping a bit when she saw his name flash across the screen.
"Look who finally sounds like he's in a good mood," Elena teased the moment she picked up.
Victor chuckled on the other end, his voice relaxed. "You're not wrong. Yesterday's mess had me restless all night… but today? I've got some good news."
Elena perked up instantly, a grin tugging at her lips. "Finally! I've been waiting like a student waiting for exam results."
"Well, if this were an exam, you'd definitely pass," Victor joked.
"Smooth talker," Elena said with a playful roll of her eyes. "So, what's the news?"
"There are two," Victor replied, his tone light. "One's juicy, the other… let's just say it tastes like sucking on a lemon rind with salt."
