Chapter 2 - Painting

"Princess Catherine!"

"Princess Catherine!"

"Princess Catherine!"

"Here I am!' A girl walked out gracefully from the stairs, just like her mother, but the only thing she doesn't have is being talkative.

"Princess Catherine, your...!" A man wearing a red suit came forward and greeted her while holding her hand and bowing down.

"Mr Adrian! How many times have I told you that you can be informal with me when we are in the palace!" She is fed up with her butler being formal even in the house.

"When will you stop calling me Mr Adrian but Adrian!" He replied.

"I won't stop calling you until you stop me addressing you as Princess Catherine, Catherine or Cathy is fine, Mr Adrian!"

"Your Highness is about to reach the palace. Get over to the dining table; you didn't have your meal, Princess Catherine!" Said Mr Adrian.

"I know Mr Adrian, but until he comes here, I won't have my meal, he needs to be here at once!" Princess Catherine justified her intentions.

From the time her beloved mother and Queen Matilda had left the world, the daughter and father had shared a stronger bond.

They always wait for each other and are protective towards each other, even though they make each other feel that they are satisfied, but still, the eyes show the emptiness of the queen.

Just as the King came in, she found her daughter sleeping peacefully on the couch. Then he went inside his room, and the maids came to remove the shawl and then stripped off his clothes.

He was washed inside the bathroom and then he was cleaned. Just as he wore his robe and came out.

Maids came rushing, standing in the halls, trying to gain his attention and orders.

The Butler came and stood at the back quietly, but he knew that he was the King and nothing could be hidden from him.

Just then, they walked into one room; he found her daughter sleeping in the dining room.

"Your Highness, she had her meal, though she insisted on waiting for you, but then...!"

He moved his hand up, signalling him to stop, and then he looked at his daughter.

He caught her in his arms and took her inside her room. Butler kept following them, and then, as the King put her on the bed, he looked at her drawing beside her bed; he blew out the candle while looking at the drawing and then kissed her forehead.

They left, closed the door, and Butler asked the guards to stand in front of the door.

Just as they walked into the other room across from her room, they sat on the chairs.

"Your Highness, I heard about some rumours about the coronation, but...!"

"I know Adrian, I have been cautious with my daughter, but this coronation is announced to attract her!"

"Your Highness, the term "her" is strongest among the nation, but I fear if she regains her consciousness, this can be a warning, I guess!"

"What warning?"

"Your Highness, the painting and the black shadow which is far from you. I am afraid the warnings are given, and what if there are not the first?"

"You are right; send an immediate letter to the Cathedral Head; we need to glorify her!"

"Yes, Your Highness, but how will we convey this to Princess Catherine?"

"The Cathedral Head will convey this to her, till the time we have to wait for it!"

"Your Highness! May I speak something?" He asked the king.

"Go ahead!" The King told him.

"Your Highness! I think it would be better if you could tell her because I personally believe that this can be conveyed as it's your place and your responsibility!" He tried to explain to him that, as her father, it should be his job to tell her about everything.

"I want to but I cannot face her after we break it to her!" He gave his reasons.

Just as the King and Adrian continued to talk about some business related to the public welfare.

The dark night was filled with twinkling stars with the moon shining its light over the sky for the night is young but dark.
