Chapter 10 - Chapter 10: Sypha

Curse of the Arcane.

An Eroge game, I found the name weird too, considering those genres of games are more likely to be named stuff like... hmm? I can't say, I just know it shouldn't be name something so dark. Maybe, Building a Harem in fantasy world, Romantic... adventures?

I am not really a fan of eroge games so I can't really tell what names are fitted for them, but I was sure that name was weird for an eroge. The game started out slow, a cliche and that's normal considering most stories start out that way.

Atlantis.

I liked the name to be honest, gave the feel of an underwater world like in the myth. But this world wasn't underwater or anything like that, it was a fantasy setting, something about three kingdoms which was all that was left of humanity stranded in another dimension, yes, the kingdoms were not IN Atlantis, but a dimension connected to it, and this was because of some war that happened serval hundred years ago. In other for humanity not to be completely eradicated, some unknown god isolated this three kingdoms and locked them in another dimension. That's all that was revealed at that start of the game, I never got to know who this god was since I didn't even get to finish the game in the first. However what I did discover was that, the god was once a human, it was what this very god DID that brought about the whole war with the supernatural. That's about all I know of that mystery.

Atlantis had a special natural energy, an endless form of energy known as ether, and it was this energy that was the bedrock of cultivation.

At a certain age a child manifests an ether core, an organ just like any other in the human body, but this very core's sole purpose is to absorb and purify atmospheric ether. Then transfer that very ether into a certain chamber connected to the core, the etherpool.

Now that's the problem. Even from the common knowledge of that game world, I am already seeing unsettling similarities between it, and this world, from both my memories of Lumiea and Anderson.

This world is also called Atlantis!

Plus the concept of ether is likewise the same. The lack of ether is the very reason Anderson is as he is. He till this moment is yet to develop the ether organ. That's the reason he can't awaken a sypha.

According to the game, a sypha is an existence tied to the soul of an individual. At birth, an individual's soul is vulnerable to the innumerable souls that roam Atlantis. At that tender stage of development some of this souls attach themselves to the individual, and after the manifestation of the ether organ, this souls take shape and become a companion to that person. But that doesn't mean everyone awakens a sypha, it's a 40% chance.

So yes, there is the possibility of me awakening a sypha, but that can't happen without me developing an ether organ.

Sighs.

There is also something called an affinity. An affinity as it sounds is a person's resonance with an element. But this banks on the manifestation of the ether core, so yes, everything pertaining to a person transcending human boundaries banks of ether, that's why I said it's the bedrock of cultivation.

But all this nonsense aside, what worries me is why this concepts are so similar. At this point I already have an idea what is happening, but I just don't want to accept it. Cause if all this is somehow just like the game then... I think I have a much bigger problem than just being fat or having a psycho as a fiancée.

Tsk.

What am I even saying? I can't dispute it anymore, and the fact that I have this memory is definitely no coincidence.

Sighs.

This is stupid.

Who am I deceiving?

The fact is all so clear, and the earlier I come to terms with it, the better. I got reincarnated in an eroge.
