Chapter 42 - 42 - Bug Player

Dexter watched how the Limitless Alliance defended themselves from the never-ending onslaught of different guilds — who had their tacit approval to attack only the Limitless Alliance.

Fireballs, arrows, and all kinds of projectiles bombarded the makeshift wall built with planks, while the defenders also rained spells and arrows down upon the attackers.

But the chaos was so random that even naked players riding oxen were busy looting corpses — whether from the Limitless Alliance or the attacking guilds.

"DON'T FUCKING LOOT WHILE FIGHTING, GODDAMNIT!"

"REPORT THOSE IDIOTS! KICK THEM FROM THE GUILD!"

This was the problem with an alliance that accepted almost everyone — no standards, no enforcement of their own rules. Though the Limitless Alliance had far more players than any other, their camaraderie and discipline had become a joke.

Even though they controlled the Crimson Tree Zone, a prime location for resources (especially the Crimson Tree's unique materials), they couldn't fully dominate the area due to random players who ignored their authority.

Even the guild leaders were powerless — but what could they do? They needed bodies to fill their ranks.

Dexter then switched his equipment to Guillotine Blades, smiling coldly as he watched the defenders atop the makeshift wall.

Moving close to the attacking guild, he simply raised his eyebrows and smiled at them. The players who saw him were confused at first, then burst out laughing at his attire. But when they noticed the Guillotine Blade in his hand, they all swallowed hard — unsure if they were the intended targets.

"Hey… all of you! Especially you, fucking healer — resurrect me after I die. I'll go crash that wall…" he commanded, making the leader twitch his eye in irritation.

"Well… okay. Bright, go with him. Resurrect him if he dies."

"Me?! Why me? Call someone else!"

The leader of the attacking guild snapped and smacked him on the head.

"Can't you tell? He's willing to sacrifice himself just to open that fucking gate! We've been stuck here for almost three months, damn it!"

"And change to Cloak, idiot! Go invisible so they won't spam skills on you…"

Bright reluctantly changed his cloth armor to a leather jacket that allowed him to turn invisible, paired with a cape that also granted invisibility.

'This idiot really doesn't want to die,' Dexter thought, smirking.

"Here I go! You know what to do after I destroy that gate…"

Dexter then rushed toward the makeshift gate, confusing all the defenders who were firing at the attackers.

For the entire three months they had been busy defending, this was the first time someone had rushed straight toward the gate.

"KILL THAT BASTARD! HE'S ON A SUICIDE MISSION!"

"FUCKING DIEHARD! SACRIFICING HIS LIFE FOR THIS DAMN ZONE!"

All projectiles were focused on Dexter as he ran madly forward, his maniacal laughter terrifying the defending players. Dexter dodged the barrage of spells and arrows, and when he couldn't, he simply slashed through them.

"THAT'S A PRO!"

"HURRY! CAST WIND SHIELD, TANKS!"

The tanks defending the frontline cast a wind barrier that pushed back anyone who touched it. But Dexter wasn't affected — with a powerful jump, he easily cleared the wind shield. Only a short distance remained before he could unleash Final Eclipse on the players atop the wall.

With another high jump, Dexter crossed the Guillotine Blades behind his back and delivered one forceful swing, smashing them into the players who were still reloading arrows or mid-cast.

"FINAL ECLIPSE!"

BOOM!

A mushroom cloud erupted beneath the Guillotine Blades, splitting the makeshift wall in half. Hundreds died instantly from the single attack — but the 75% health sacrifice left Dexter too vulnerable to survive the onslaught of projectiles, killing him alongside his victims.

"Resurrect!"

Revived thanks to Bright, his invisible assistant (who panted nervously nearby), Dexter regained 30% HP. He swapped his Guillotine Blades for a Holy Staff and Torch, put rolled dry leaf between his lips, and lit it with the flame.

"Ahhh... I love this. Let's start killing, shall we?"

He healed himself with the Holy Staff while the rolled dry leaf continuously regenned his lost MP. He switched his Torch for a Sword — and this time, all the players around him froze in shock.

Continuously swapping equipment without even opening his inventory, he made them retreat instinctively.

"C-CHEATER!"

"KILL HIM!"

Dexter just laughed at them, blowing out a smoke ring.

"So what, right?"

Crouching low, he lunged at the nearest enemy.

Inside the Alliance Hall, Mia and BOI were discussing their plan to eliminate the leaders of the attacking guild — when suddenly, a man in leather armor burst in.

"S-SIR! EMERGENCY!"

All the leaders snapped their attention toward him.

"What is it?" someone demanded.

"The wall on the northeast side of the zone — it's destroyed!" he panted, struggling to get the words out.

"Then fix it after the attacking guild retreats for rest!" BOI snarled. "Round up those useless members still farming dungeons instead of defending. If they ignore the call, slaughter them all."

"NO, SIR! THAT'S NOT THE REAL ISSUE! THERE'S A CHEATER AMONG THEM!"

All the leaders — including BOI and Mia — snapped to attention, their eyes widening. Some even shot to their feet.

"SEND AN ALLIANCE-WIDE ALERT! RECALL EVERY MEMBER IN THE WARRING KINGDOM! I WANT THEM HERE NOW!"

BOI's voice turned deadly calm as he turned to Ghostblade: "Can you eliminate this cheater? 50 million coins for its head."

Mia glanced at BladeOfInfinity, her usual confidence wavering. Known as the Blackhands deadliest assassin, even she hesitated — killing a cheater who could instantly swap gear in combat meant no room for error. One mistake would be fatal.

"Get your healers ready," she finally said. "I'll attempt the assassination... but you'd better resurrect me if I fail. Unless you want the Blackhands knocking on your door."

No one could stop Dexter's carnage. Driven by twisted determination to shatter the game's balance for his amusement, he cycled through his bracers' transformations with every imaginable equipment combo.

One moment he was a werewolf shredding through crowds, the next a vampire sinking fangs into female players' necks. When he morphed into a towering Demon, even the battle-hardened veterans from both the Attacking Guild and Limitless Alliance froze, jaws slack.

"WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK?! How do we kill this cheating bastard?!"

"THAT SHIT'S NOT IN THE ELDRION CODEX!"

"DEVS! BUG REPORT! FUCKING BAN HIM!"

"SYSTEM IS NOT WORKING!"
