Her raw strength had doubled from before. Though she couldn't measure her speed precisely, she could feel it had increased even more than her strength.
Endurance, resilience, dynamic vision, and perceptionâevery aspect had improved in all directions.
Weiwei's natural talent was perception. The Bat-Bat Fruit, Model: Vampireâa Mythical Zoan-typeâhad significantly enhanced her innate senses. On her status panel, she noticed a new entry: "Observation Haki â Level 4." The numbers were fluctuating rapidly. Though she hadn't recently gathered new attributes or trained explicitly, her skyrocketing perception alone had brought her to the brink of Level 5.
Even deep underground, she could hear the faint whispers of townspeople above. Many had been awakened by the earlier bat swarm; a few brave ones, holding torches, were now making their way toward the commotion.
Weiwei knew she couldn't remain here.
"Come on, Karoo. Let's head out."
Grabbing the loyal duck, she leapt to the surface. The surge in physical ability made her movements slightly unstableâshe shot forward over ten meters before finally stopping.
Concerned that the underground karst cave and the labyrinth below might be discovered, she quickly drew her blade and used the technique "Weiguo" to fell a massive tree above the cave. She shoved the trunk and roots into the entrance, concealing it entirely. The location was remote, shrouded in natural darkness; even with torches, ordinary townsfolk wouldn't find it.
Weiwei and Karoo made their way to the other end of the island. Finding a secluded spot with no one in sight, she began to examine her new powers.
There are three general types of Zoan Devil Fruits: Human, Human-Beast, and Beast. For Mythical Zoan fruits, the final transformed form matters most.
Kaido of the Four Emperors turned into a Qinglongânot a fishâdespite his Fruit being the Fish-Fish Fruit, Model: Azure Dragon. Similarly, CP9's Kaku had the Cow-Cow Fruit, Giraffe Model. His beast form was purely giraffe, not bovine.
Weiwei's Bat-Bat Fruit, Model: Vampire also belonged to the beast categoryâher final form was not a giant bat, nor a Western fantasy vampire. It was something else entirely.
Signaling Karoo to step back, she prepared for her first full beast transformation.
The night sea breeze felt invigorating. She inhaled deeply. Wild energy coursed through her veins, as though years of suppression had suddenly lifted. Her very cells seemed to pulse with awakening power. The frail, helpless, but resilient Ms. Wednesday was gone. Now, with full mastery of her Devil Fruit and all three forms of Haki, she could finally seize control of her fate.
Blood surged through her body. Her frame grew rapidly, stopping at around three meters tall. Her soft aquamarine hair deepened into a long black cascade that fell to her waist. Scarlet shimmered in her once-clear eyes. Her ears grew pointed, elfin. Her lips turned crimson, hiding sharp, white fangs beneath.
Her skin turned porcelain-pale, glowing ethereally under the moonlight. Over her original clothes, a long black cloak unfurled like wings after transformation.
Despite the added height, her beast form closely resembled her human selfâonly more refined, almost hauntingly beautiful. Yet, beneath that beauty was a dark truth: she was now a predator. The killing instinct unique to vampiresâa race of dark legendsâloomed just beneath the surface. Bloodthirst and violence ranked high among Zoan fruits, but vampire instincts stood at the very top.
She continually fed herself calming suggestions, using her Observation Haki to stabilize her mind.
This self-suggestion technique, manifesting alongside her Haki, was incredibly effective. Gradually, her burning urge to kill subsided. Seizing the brief peace, she glanced at her panel again.
Vampires, being legendary creatures, came with a wide arsenal of powers.
In mere seconds, over a dozen new abilities had appeared.
These weren't results of fruit masteryâthey were innate to the vampire lineage. Some skills immediately showed on her panel; others were locked, gated by her physical limits.
The panel resembled a glowing interface with lines of text flickering nonstop.
First came the passive traits. Alongside her already acquired "Enhanced Skin" and "Enhanced Strength," five new abilities appeared: "Heightened Hearing," "Dark Vision," "Disease Immunity," "Aging Immunity," and "Special Physique."
That last traitâSpecial Physiqueâreflected true vampire nature. At night, her recovery rate would skyrocket. In sunlight, it would decrease moderatelyânothing like the instant combustion of classic Western vampires.
Sunlight didn't kill her; it only made her feel sluggish and slightly ill. More importantly, this weakness was only triggered by actually seeing the light. If she shut her eyes and "saw nothing," she could mitigate its effects entirely.
Following the passive traits, active powers began manifesting.
She gained the vampire's signature ability: "Hypnosis," which paired well with "Suggestion."
Then came "Dark Veil," which allowed her to hide in a pocket of shadow, and "Shadow Dive," enabling her to disappear entirely into the darkness.
Next were core vampire skills: "Vampirism" and "Life Energy Conversion." Compared to elemental Devil Fruits with their city-level attacks, the vampire powers leaned toward support and subterfuge. If elemental users were mages, Weiwei's vampire form was akin to a lethal assassin.
What thrilled her most, however, was the ability to fly.
She now possessed three flight-related abilities: "Atomization," "Swarm Form," and "Float."
"Atomization" transformed her entire blood volume into pure life energy, turning her into a misty vaporâideal for escape or concealment.
"Swarm Form" genuinely surprised her. She had assumed her vampire form didn't include bat transformations. But she was wrong. She could split into a swarm of batsâeach carrying a shard of her consciousness. If ambushed by a strong enemy, she could disperse, and as long as a single bat survived, she could regenerate.
She hadn't fully deciphered "Float" yet. It seemed to generate a unique force fieldâunlike gravityâthat subtly lifted her body 20 to 30 centimeters above the ground.
By itself, this wouldn't enable full flight. But combined with Observation Haki, it became far more interesting.
Using her keen perception, she could sense airflow patterns. By applying this invisible force beneath her feet and adjusting the angle of her cloakâlike the wings of an aircraftâshe could theoretically generate lift. It was a delicate system that required fine control, and though she grasped the concept mentally, her body hadn't caught up yet.
In short: the theory was solid. Her instincts understood it. But her muscles and movements still needed to learn.
