Chapter 39: Am I a Psychic?
This was the first time Bai Feng had truly left Biyi City.
Although he had previously gone to the Sea God's Cavern, the Sea God's Cavern was located in the sea area near Biyi City, essentially still within Biyi City's boundaries. So, in the end, he hadn't actually left Biyi City.
Teacher Omura was very considerate. He not only helped Bai Feng buy plane tickets and arrange accommodation, but he didn't even let Bai Feng spend a single cent.
Of course, Bai Feng wasn't short on money. He offered to return the money to Teacher Omura, but the teacher firmly refused. He felt that as a teacher, he had an obligation to take better care of his students, especially a student who was only twelve years old.
Helpless, Bai Feng had no choice but to accept Teacher Omura's care. There would be plenty of opportunities in the future to repay Teacher Omura.
Lumiose City and Biyi City are not far apart, connected by Route 13. Even by car, it wouldn't take a full day to reach.
Bai Feng and Teacher Omura took a plane and successfully arrived in Lumiose City in about an hour.
The Lumiose City of today was a little different from the metropolis in Bai Feng's memory because it didn't yet have the iconic architecture that would come later—Prism Tower.
Currently, the most famous place in Lumiose City was the Lumiose Museum, as Lumiose City was not only economically prosperous but also known as a metropolis where technology and art intersected.
Teacher Omura had already booked a hotel, so after getting off the plane, the two headed straight for the hotel.
Teacher Omura had booked a small hotel in a very inconspicuous location, but the conditions inside were quite good, and the staff's service attitude was also thoughtful. It was a very suitable choice for the two of them.
After settling in, Teacher Omura said he had a friend to visit and told Bai Feng to wait for him at the hotel. With that, he left in a hurry.
Bai Feng was bored staying at the hotel, so he decided to go explore Lumiose City.
It would be a shame not to take a good look around after finally coming here, so he left a message at the hotel's front desk and then went out shopping with Bai Ye, Brionne, Helioptile, and Larvitar.
Lumiose City is a city with particularly neat planning, making it highly modernized. It is structured around several main avenues connected to the Central Plaza, dividing the entire city into several smaller plazas.
The avenues are named after seasons: Spring Way, Summer Way, Autumn Way, and Winter Way. The two connecting north-south main roads further divide the four avenues into two areas, the South Sector and the North Sector.
The plazas are named after colors: Blue Plaza, Green Plaza, Yellow Plaza, Red Plaza, plus Magenta Plaza. Among these, Blue, Green, and Magenta Plazas are located in the South Sector, while the other two plazas are in the North Sector.
Surrounding the plazas are countless commercial streets, tourist streets, residential areas, characteristic architecture, and so on, which support Lumiose City's developed tourism industry.
The hotel where Bai Feng and the others were staying was near Red Plaza, where there were many cafes, restaurants, juice shops, and similar places.
Bai Feng took his Pokémon to a juice stand and ordered a colorful-looking glass of juice for each of them.
"Quick, try it and see how the juice here is different from the juice squeezed from the fruit at home," Bai Feng said to the Pokémon.
*Gulp gulp~*
Bai Ye took a big gulp and then smacked its lips. "Hmm~ The taste is a bit bland, not very good." It had a sweet tooth, and if the juice tasted too bland, it would find it tasteless.
Brionne heard this and also took a big gulp, but its evaluation was that it was okay.
When it was Larvitar's turn, it took a small sip, and then its little face suddenly wrinkled up.
"*Yo~*" It's too awful!
Everyone's juice flavor was different, so it was normal for their reactions to vary, but it couldn't be *that* awful, could it? After all, they were running a business with this!
So Bai Feng said, "Let me try. Is it really that bad?"
Larvitar handed its juice to Bai Feng without a word. Bai Feng didn't mind that Larvitar had already drunk from it and was about to take a sip.
Just then, an unidentified object suddenly fell from the sky, landing right on the juice in Bai Feng's hand. The juice splashed out with a *splat*, and the black shadow also hit the ground heavily.
"*Meow!*" A cry of pain came, and the black shadow got up at the fastest speed and darted away.
Before Bai Feng could say anything, two more red figures descended from the sky, paused for a moment beside Bai Feng, and then darted away in pursuit.
"Don't run! Stop right there!"
The black shadow that had knocked over Bai Feng's juice seemed to be a Purrloin, while the figures chasing the Purrloin were a person wearing a red cloak and a strange mask, and a Blaziken radiating terrifying heat.
Bai Feng said speechlessly, "People these days really dare to wear anything out on the street!" Don't they feel ashamed running around on the street wearing a red cloak?
He muttered to himself as he cleaned up the spilled juice on the ground before leaving with his Pokémon.
The fellow who knocked over his juice ran incredibly fast and was long gone. There was nothing Bai Feng could do to pursue the matter now.
"How about I take you guys to eat something delicious instead! Lumiose City seems to have a lot of great food!" Bai Feng suggested as they walked.
"*Sha nai~*"
"*Xi lai~*"
...
His suggestion was met with unanimous agreement from everyone, so they continued their walk excitedly.
"Look, that restaurant ahead seems pretty good. Let's give it a try!" Bai Feng looked up some information for a while, then pointed to a restaurant not far away. The Lumiose City tourist guide had specifically mentioned that restaurant.
"*Sha nai~*" Okay, okay!
...
The Pokémon didn't know which restaurant in Lumiose City was famous, so they naturally went wherever Bai Feng pointed.
Just as they were heading towards that restaurant, a young girl wearing a light yellow dress walked past Bai Feng.
Well~ saying "young girl" wasn't quite accurate. She looked like she wasn't even ten years old, more like a little girl.
Bai Feng hadn't noticed the little girl initially, but as she walked past him, she suddenly grabbed Bai Feng's arm.
Hmm? Did the Pokémon World also have people trying to fake accidents for compensation?
Bai Feng looked at the delicate-looking little girl in front of him with confusion and asked, "What's wrong, little sister? Are you lost?"
The little girl rolled her eyes at Bai Feng and said, "Are you treating me like an idiot? How could I get lost!"
The little girl's first words were incredibly disillusioning. She was clearly a very cute little girl, but her tone was so arrogant.
"Then why did you grab me, little sister? Do we know each other?" Bai Feng continued to ask.
"No," the little girl said expressionlessly.
"Then..."
Just as Bai Feng was about to speak, the little girl continued, "You're a Psychic, aren't you?"
Huh? Bai Feng was full of question marks. Where did you get the idea that I'm a Psychic? How come I don't know about this myself?
"Little sister, if you don't have anything else, go find your father and mother. I have things to do," Bai Feng said with a chuckle, feeling that the little girl was being unreasonable and not wanting to humor her.
A hint of anger immediately appeared on the little girl's face. "You really are treating me like an idiot, aren't you? Also, I'm 11 years old this year, I shouldn't be much younger than you."
11 years old? Bai Feng's eyes widened in surprise. Looking at the thin, small little girl in front of him, he couldn't believe she was 11.
The little girl was only one year younger than Bai Feng, yet her height only reached his shoulder. Logically, boys and girls of this age shouldn't have such a big height difference, and some girls might even be taller than boys their age.
But this little girl was just too short.
"Miss, I'm not treating you like an idiot. It's just that you're very short, so I misunderstood just now," Bai Feng said helplessly.
The little girl knew she wasn't tall. She pouted and didn't say much more, but instead questioned Bai Feng again, "You still haven't answered my question!"
"What question? Am I a Psychic?" Bai Feng explained with a headache, "Please, Miss, I really am not a Psychic!"
The little girl shook her head firmly and said, "Impossible. I can't be wrong. I can feel the Psychic Energy unique to Psychics from you."
Psychics are rare, and it's hard to encounter another one normally. Since she had the rare chance to see one on the street today, the little girl was unwilling to give up.
Just as Bai Feng was about to argue, a luxurious car stopped beside the two of them.
The car window slowly rolled down, and a young man with red hair poked his head out. He asked in surprise, "Bai Feng, Caitlin, why are you two together?"
"Lysandre!"
"Uncle Lysandre!"
Bai Feng and the little girl said in unison. The young man sitting in the car was Lysandre, who had adventured with Bai Feng in the Sea God's Cavern.
But wait, what did Lysandre just call the little girl? Caitlin? I must not have misheard, right? It's not the Caitlin I'm thinking of, is it?
Could this little girl be Caitlin, one of the future Elite Four members of the Unova Region?
A small body, a cute face, long golden hair, and still insisting about Psychics... all the elements matched!
"What a coincidence, running into you two on the road," Lysandre said with a smile. "Why don't we find a place to sit down and chat? It's rare to meet like this."
"Okay."
Bai Feng nodded, and Caitlin didn't object either.
"Then get in the car," Lysandre beckoned to Bai Feng and Caitlin.
After Bai Feng and Caitlin got into the car, Lysandre saw the Larvitar in Bai Feng's arms and asked in surprise, "Is this Larvitar the one that hatched from the egg the Legendary Birds gave you?"
"That's right, it's this little guy," Bai Feng nodded and replied.
Larvitar looked at Bai Feng, then at Lysandre, completely bewildered, not understanding what the two were talking about.
Equally confused was Caitlin, who was sitting in the back. What Legendary Birds? What are you talking about? Are they the Legendary Birds I know? Although she was curious, Caitlin didn't rashly interrupt their conversation.
Bai Feng then asked in return, "Lysandre, are you very familiar with Miss Caitlin?"
Lysandre replied with a smile, "Caitlin's parents and I are in partnership. The main reason I'm in Lumiose City this time is to discuss some business matters with Caitlin's parents."
Saying that, he turned to look at Caitlin in the back and asked, "Caitlin, did you come to the Kalos Region with your father and mother this time?"
Caitlin nodded obediently and said, "That's right. I was bored, so I came out for a walk. I didn't expect to meet Uncle Lysandre."
"I see... By the way, Bai Feng, are you in Lumiose City for something? If there's anything you need help with, just say the word!" Lysandre said enthusiastically.
"Isn't the Berry Exhibition Convention being held in Lumiose City recently? I came to participate in this event," Bai Feng explained.
"Oh~ So it's that event!" Lysandre suddenly remembered that such an event was indeed going to be held. "I also plan to attend that event!"
However, Lysandre wasn't going there to exhibit any Berry. He just wanted to see if he could find some talented individuals, and he also wanted to make some investment in the berry cultivation industry.
Speaking of which, this idea of his was related to Bai Feng.
Lysandre actually admired Bai Feng very much, thinking he was capable and loyal. So, when he heard that this event was going to be held in Lumiose City, he naturally thought of Bai Feng, who was also engaged in berry cultivation work.
Thus, on a whim, he decided to go and take a look when the time came.
"That's really a coincidence! When the time comes, come find me at my exhibition booth, and I'll let you taste how the berries I've cultivated are!" Bai Feng said happily. "Last time, you and Calyrex left in a hurry, and I didn't have time to properly host you!"
"It's a deal then!" Lysandre readily agreed.
As they chatted, the conversation turned back to Bai Feng and Caitlin.
"I saw you two arguing on the street just now. Was there some misunderstanding?" Lysandre asked curiously.
Bai Feng sighed and said, "Miss Caitlin insisted on pulling me, saying I'm a Psychic, but I'm not!"
Caitlin was unhappy when she heard this. She straightened her little face and said, "I can't be wrong about my sensing."
Lysandre listened and pondered for a few seconds before saying, "Caitlin's family is a Psychic family. Logically, it's impossible for her to be wrong about her sensing..."
This completely confused Bai Feng. I understand what you're saying, but I really am not a Psychic! Do I really have a hidden second ability? The Transmigration God wouldn't be that generous, would they?
Just then, Caitlin suddenly said, "If you don't believe me, stretch out your hand, and I'll show you!"
Bai Feng obediently extended his right hand, which Caitlin grasped.
Then, Bai Feng saw Caitlin gently close her eyes. At the same time, a faint layer of purple light appeared around her body. Her hair and clothes unconsciously floated up with the purple light.
The purple light spread along their clasped hands to Bai Feng's body. At that moment, Bai Feng suddenly felt dizzy, and something seemed to explode in his mind, like fireworks. Countless purple mists surged in his mind.
In that instant, Bai Feng seemed to see the figure of Lugia within the purple mist.
