I got ready with some nice clothes while the warden waited for me outside. I put on some nice clothes and got out living my sword behind in the room.
"I am ready we can go," i said
" Good," followed me."
We exited the dorm. He guided me through a hall with white marble on the wall, with portraits of former students on the wall on one side. The other side had long pillars, painted white. Decorated with ivy, which looks over the garden with a fountain in the middle, which had a statue of a warrior with water coming from his sword. The muscular build could intimidate most of the beings. The entire fountain was made up of white marble as well except the fire he was holding in his left hand, which was, for some reason, black in color.
The warden noticed my gazed on the statue and mentioned that it was the statue of the demon king.
Then, he proceeds to tell me about the history of the statue.
" This Tower is here before the existence of any demon or human. We believe that there is an almighty God who conspires with humans to trap us in this Tower and give the entire world to those humans."
I heard this story from marella. She used to tell me about this during my bedtime in my childhood, but I never heard a full story because I just fell asleep so early.
" We lived in this Tower since our creation. We have tried many times to get out of this. There are not enough resources or food or water for all. That's why your job of explorers is very important for the survival of all of us. Anyway, back to the story. Earlier, this Tower was divided into smaller clans who resided on each floor. It was going just fine. Yet, someone had a different vision. The demon king. He started with few companions, but with his strength and rezelense, he becomes who we know today. Once a whisper in the storm, he walked with shadows as his only allies. We, the shadows, helped him conquer the Tower and unit people for a single cause."
"What was this cause?" I asked.
" The cause was to win what was rightfully ours. Since we are the superior race. We deserve more land, more resources, and more luxury. He found the secret of towers. And he was able to unlock the lost floor."
"What there is more than nine floor?" I asked in a sprised voice.
" Is it true or not? we can't verify. Since, no one other than him was able to find that floor."
" Wh... what happened next?"
" The demon king with few of his followers was able to get out of the Tower, and no one saw him again. Without the strong leader to unite us. Everything spirled into was and chaos. From this chaos. The nobal families came to power and brought stability. Since then, they have been ruling this tower."
I just nodded along. He told those stories as if they were from his childhood. Dear stories, which people cherish till grave.
I was astonished by the lore behind the statue. I had seen multiple statues in the cities similar to this one, but I never asked who's the one in all these.
Anyways, by the end of our chatter. We reached the end of the hallway. There was a marvelously crafted wooden door with intricate patterns on the border alongside a dragon shaped handle.
He opened the door slowly. We went in. I saw the principal sitting there on a chair with tea on the table. There was a whole wall behind him with pictures of, which i assume are former principals.
On the right side, there is a fireplace and windows looking over the campus. The floor is wooden, but walls are decorated with white marbles.
On the left side, there are numerous bookshelf with many spellbooks and a number of other items. In the middle and red carpet with golden edges, which leads up to the principals desk.
It was chilling in the room. We went up to the desk. The warden did a little bowing gesture, and he stood to the right side.
I took a step forward. Bowing a little and said my greetings.
" it's a pleasure to be in your presence."
"Don't have to be so formal. I just summoned you to have a conversation." He said
" Yeah, after what we did," i thought.
" How are your days going in the campus. I know it's just been a couple of days, but are you comfortable?" He asked
" it feels a little different from home, but I find the dorms very comfortable. I really like it here. I actually met some very nice fellow students."
" Nice to hear that."
He took one sip of his tea
Aagh...
" Your friends are really nice. They followed you to death forest to save just one friend."
"Hmm..."
That caught me off guard
"How do you know?"
" Nothing in this campus happens without me noticing. I don't intend to punish you as what you did was noble. Do you know who is responsible for this?" He asked. I can tell he is just trying to get a name from me.
"I don't know," i answered
" I see any suspicions?"
I can tell he knew that I knew who was behind all this.
"Sorry, sir, but I am sure you will find out. After all, you were able to find out about us." I hope I did not go over board with this one. I kept a gentle smile.
"Then I guess it would be better to get to the point."
I did well there. Let's see what he has to say about this.
"I know you have an idea about who did all that to anira. I want to tell you that you don't have to get involved in this. I have seen your strength. You have a bright future ahead. I will have the same conversation with your other friends and those who tried to harm anira. They are being dealt with by their families."
" There families, so trying to kill someone only gets you a lecture from your family." I said with disappointment and anger in my voice.
" I can understand how you feel, but you must understand how the world works. You just can't confront people with power directly. Either had the political backing or have enough strength to take on an army by yourself."
" Don't forget, people in power just don't stop at you they go after everything that's dear to you."
I just grind my teeth in anger as I know all this is true. Currently, I don't have the strength to do justice.
" that's it. You are dismissed."
I left and came back to my room.
In the office.
The warden said " they are just kids. They should not face the reality of the world so soon."
" you are right. But he is different from others. He doesn't have any fear or doubt. He knows his limit and is mature for his age. He frightened me."
" frightened you?" The warden asked.
" yes, he was unfazed while talking to me directly. Most would shiver at sight of me but he was either confident that I won't hurt him or sure that he could fought with me and survive."
END OF THE CHAPTER.
