Megyn hadn't heard anyone enter her room. She was in the bathroom, preparing to leave for the Hawi residence, her bag already packed. But when she tried to open the door, she realized it had been locked from the outside.
Moments later, she heard voices—a man and a woman—conversing in the room. She didn't dare to knock on the door, because she was afraid. Instead she had put her ears on the keyhole to listen to what they were saying.
"Daisy, I thought you were supposed to be in the room at the far end. What happened?" the man asked.
"I changed rooms, Larry," the woman replied casually.
"But your old room is in a better location. I prefer it. This one faces the gate directly—there's no privacy."
"Never mind, Larry. What brings you to Room Five?"
"I was sent to collect the occupant of this room."
"That would be me."
Larry sounded uninterested.
"Since when did you get familiar with the boss's family? You, of all the nurses—the hospital whore?"
"There's always a first time, Larry. And stop your insults. You sound jealous," Daisy said with a smug smile. "Let's go. I'd like to get my hands on the boss's son."
From inside the bathroom, Megyn listened in shock. So Daisy had locked her in. The woman didn't even pretend to have a shred of decency—her voice was laced with bitterness and entitlement. Megyn saw her for what she truly was: selfish and cold.
Yet Megyn's heart clung to something else—hope. She trusted Benjamin and believed in their growing love. She heard her phone ringing some time after Daisy and Larry had left, but she had no access to it.
She banged on the bathroom door, but no one responded. With nothing else to do, she sat on the toilet seat, shivering in the cold, waiting for her Prince Charming. She believed—he would come.
Time dragged like eternity before she heard a familiar voice.
"Megyn! Where are you?"
"I'm locked in the bathroom!" she shouted, but he didn't hear her.
The voices faded again. Then, after what felt like ages, she heard keys clinking and the door to the room opening.
"Princess? Princess, where are you?"
It was Benjamin.
"Dad, her bag is here—and her phone's on the table," he called out.
"Megyn?" his father called.
The bathroom door had been locked from the outside, and the keys were still dangling from the lock. Benjamin opened it to find Megyn, dazed, wrapped in a towel, her eyes red with tears.
He turned to his father. "Give us a moment."
Mr. Hawi nodded and quietly stepped out, closing the door behind him.
"She locked me in," Megyn said in a trembling voice, before breaking into sobs.
Benjamin scooped her into his arms and carried her to the couch.
"Hush, Princess," he whispered, wiping the tears streaming down her cheeks.
"I didn't see her, but I heard Larry call her Daisy—the same guy you sent to get me."
"I know, Princess. And we'll deal with her."
"Benj, she's after you. She said it. I heard her."
Megyn's vulnerability cut through him. Benjamin's love deepened. He was ready to protect her—whatever it took.
"My Gazelle… Do you trust my heart? My love is only for you."
She nodded, a soft smile forming as her breathing calmed.
"That's my girl." He smiled.
"Now, I'll step outside and let you get dressed. Then we'll go to my father's house. Take your time, Princess."
Suddenly, Megyn reached out and embraced him tightly—forgetting she was only in a towel. As the towel slipped, Benjamin caught it mid-air before it touched the floor. He gave her a lopsided smile.
Her self consciousness hit the roof, and he, sensing her embarrassment, stepped out to give her space.
On his way out, he spotted something glinting in the grass near the room—her room key. He picked it up and headed to the car.
"You look unsettled, son. What's going on?" Mr. Hawi asked.
"I just found this key in the grass. She locked Megyn in and threw it away. Who does that?"
"Where's Megyn now?"
"She's getting dressed. Give her fifteen minutes."
"Or more," Mr. Hawi said knowingly.
Benjamin gave his father a puzzled look.
"Son, I've lived with your mother for thirty-two years. Trust me."
Benjamin chuckled. "Yeah."
"I've already called the police inspector. They're on their way to the house. I want her escorted back to her room to collect her things. She's not welcome at my hospital anymore. A spirit like that can't remain among my staff."
"Dad, I still can't believe she did this. I feel like wringing her neck."
"No, son. Don't waste your energy on anger. Focus on Megyn—she needs you. I'll handle Daisy. Can you believe she's still waiting for you at home?"
Half an hour passed. Benjamin's phone pinged with a text from Megyn: "Come for me." He smiled.
"At long last," he muttered.
"I told you, son. Go get your girl," Mr. Hawi said.
Benjamin jumped out of the black BMW X3 and opened the door to Megyn's room.
She stepped out, dressed in a royal blue, knee-length lace dress that hugged her figure. The neckline was adorned with sparkling crystals, and the three-quarter sleeves gave it an elegant touch. She wore black knee-high boots.
She looked breathtaking.
Benjamin was spellbound. He walked to her and took her in his arms.
"My Gazelle… you look stunning. The most beautiful Princess."
"And my Prince is the most charming," she said, tiptoeing to put a peck on his cheek.
"I told you—you wouldn't have to look far to find your Prince Charming."
He picked up her suitcase with one hand and held her hand with the other. "Let's go, my beautiful Princess."
Mr. Hawi drove them to the hospital grounds, where they picked up a driver to take them home. Megyn took in every sight on the western side of the city—a place she had only heard about in stories.
The scenery changed dramatically. Grand homes, well-tended gardens, paved driveways, and manicured lawns lined the road.
It was a world of beauty and affluence. As they approached the Hawi residence, she marveled at the opulence—wondering if some of the grand structures were hotels or actual homes.
The Hawi mansion was no exception. Within the compound, fruit trees grew in a corner orchard, including a pomegranate tree heavy with ripe fruit near the gate.
A shaded area with trimmed trees, benches, and tables formed a perfect entertainment spot. Climbing plants blanketed the perimeter wall in thick green, while the lawns were lush and flower gardens framed the walkways.
As the car rolled to a stop near the family parking, Daisy sat eagerly on the veranda, anticipating Benjamin's arrival. But her expression fell when she noticed Megyn in the back seat.
Benjamin got out, opened the rear door, and gently helped Megyn out. Hand in hand, they walked into the house—ignoring Daisy and Larry completely.
Daisy stared after them, stunned and humiliated. Benjamin had ignored her again. Who ignores such beauty?
Just then, the police inspector arrived. Mr. Hawi stayed behind to speak with him.
Daisy stood, furious. She stamped her foot and started storming toward the gate, arms akimbo. Larry watched in silence, regret washing over him. He had brought a viper into the home.
But Daisy didn't get far. Police officers intercepted her, cuffed her, and bundled her into a waiting car before she could leave the compound. It was a humiliating scene. Larry was also escorted away to give a statement.
The next day, Daisy returned—escorted by police—to collect her belongings from the nurses' quarters. She was paid her terminal dues and ordered never to set foot on the hospital grounds again.
Larry returned to work but was given a stern warning: verify all facts before undertaking any assignments.
All thanks to Megyn, who had overheard just enough to expose the truth.
