Chapter 50 - CHAPTER FORTY-NINE

They are in the hut now; William keeps glancing back and forth at the two young women he rescued.

He glanced at the two young girls, who would have nearly caught the attention of his companions had Vince and Zenne not acted swiftly at that moment.

That's why he let out a sigh.

"What are you two doing here in the forest?" he asked the two of them.

"Especially you, Ericka." He flicked her forehead then.

Ericka was a childhood friend of his brother Gerald's.

"N --- Nothing, brother William. I'm just airing out." Ericka was making excuses to him.

"Really, at this hour of the night, you're going out for some fresh air?"

"I—I just saw Ericka there." Chesca said.

William knew that Ericka was Chesca's schoolmate; the conversation between the two of them had to go smoothly.

He had a strong feeling that Ericka was not just here for a vacation; he knew she would find out why her best friend Jasmin had died. He didn't need to be surprised anymore, so he had his brother follow her as well.

So, he immediately saw Ericka walking near the warehouse, and she almost got into trouble because Giovane was there , taking care of what needed to be taken care of.

He looked at his watch.

2:30 am. He said to himself.

"Gerald!" William called out to his brother.

Gerald immediately came out.

"Take those two home." He ordered him.

"What are you doing here, Gerald?" Ericka asked, slightly surprised.

"I woke up because of the noise from the forest, and I saw you walking through the dense woods, so I followed you." Gerald said.

Ericka was convinced by the excuse back then, and she just nodded.

"Ruth, don't you have anywhere to stay or somewhere far from here? You can stay at my place for now." He heard her say to her companion in the house.

"Oh no, that's so embarrassing; it's just nearby." Ruth said to Ericka,

"Stay there for now; take a rest there for now, Gerald. Accompany them home."

Geral just nodded. The two young women immediately followed Gerald.

He just sighed. He needed to pretend again that he didn't know Chesca to protect Ericka as well.

William recalled his earlier words about where Thalia's and Chesca's paths would cross, noting that there was one more person involved. He didn't need to think deeply anymore, because the answer was right in front of him. Two more people will accompany Ericka.

William will call Felix first. He was still sitting in the hut then, and he knew Ericka would ask him again.

She doesn't need to know that I am a member of the organization just yet. He thought to himself back then.

The number he dialed immediately rang. The phone rang for a long time until someone suddenly answered it.

"Hello."

"Yeah."

"Why did you call?" Felix asked, clearly sleepy and reluctant to answer the phone.

"By the way, Ericka and Chesca are already here; their paths have crossed." He reported on the other line.

"Really?" he asked. "It's truly unavoidable for the three of them to meet."

"Yeah, Ericka, she stays with us." He said.

He nodded. "Don't worry, I'll have Gerald monitor it." He even told the person on the other line so they wouldn't worry back then.

"Is Thalia already moving?" the person on the other line asked.

He sighed at this question.

"Vince told me he's warning your sister not to go to the warehouse; he gave her a map to explore." He said, explaining to his companion.

"Okay, I know that Thalia can learn the ins and outs of that in no time."

"Yeah," was all he said back then.

"Any update?" he asked.

"From what I heard, Giovane is still busy dealing with his father's political rival."

"Oh, the election is coming soon." He just sighed.

"What do you see?" he asked.

He knew that he could see the future.

He just sighed.

"There will be chaos in the campaign, you know; when you're greedy for power, you won't let your opponent take away what you currently enjoy."

"Then? What is your plan?" he asked Felix. "What's your plan?" he asked again.

"I will use the chaos to gather more evidence, especially since the political situation is tumultuous right now; I can act alone."

"Make sure to be careful with your activities." He just scratched his neck. "You have no idea who's watching you now, Felix. Don't be too sure of yourself." He issued a warning to his companion at that time.

Felix exhaled before speaking. "I know that Charles also operates in secret; you know how his mind works."

"Yeah, I know, his brother is really annoying, always following him."

"Will, we're just being careful." Felix said.

"Fine, ah, I'm going to rest now; I haven't slept yet." He expressed this complaint to the person he was talking to.

He just nodded. "Okay, just keep me updated on that."

"Yeah." He immediately dropped the call.

Caution is necessary because many young people have gotten involved in this mess. He could only think to himself back then.

He left the hut, changed into his home clothes, and was going back to his family.

He looked at the nearby warehouse, sighed, and continued walking around.

He immediately arrived at their house. He entered his home and saw his younger brother resting under the blanket. The sun had not yet risen, as if it were too shy to bathe the world in brightness.

He looked at a picture where his youngest sibling was present.

The incident he witnessed, the corpse he saw, and the destruction of his youngest sister remained etched in his memory. He felt anger and sorrow for his sister, whom he couldn't save back then.

If only you were here, I know you would be laughing and chuckling happily now. He thought to himself back then. He returned the photo, immediately went up to his room, and finally, he would rest.
