Chapter 80 - Caesar, Deeply Shaken

New World, Punk Hazard.

Even Doflamingo, who was far away in Dressrosa, had to make a call due to the increasingly scarce supply of SAD, the raw material for artificial Devil Fruits.

"He's locked himself up for a whole month?" Doflamingo asked in surprise.

Though it was true that he and Caesar didn't communicate much, they still spoke on the denden mushi a few times each month.

But ever since he had sent the Senzu Beans and the teleportation talismans over, Caesar hadn't called for a long time.

Whenever Doflamingo called, it was Monet who answered.

"Monet, go and talk some sense into Caesar!"

"We can't afford to lose him when it comes to the SAD for the artificial Devil Fruits!" Doflamingo sighed.

Though Doflamingo himself wasn't a scientist, he could understand Caesar feelings.

A genius scientist suddenly discovering that he couldn't comprehend someone else invention would naturally feel deeply frustrated.

It was just like how he felt when he saw those powerful figures dominating the seas—the feeling of being outmatched was absolutely unbearable!

"Understood, Young Master!"

Monet, as always, obeyed Doflamingo words without question, replying respectfully.

"Oh, by the way, our informant in the Navy sent back a message. Even Vegapunk, the scientist who's said to be 500 years ahead of the world, couldn't crack Pryce inventions!"

Doflamingo recalled the message sent back by Vergo, who was now a Vice Admiral in the Navy.

After hanging up, Monet took a moment to compose herself before knocking on the laboratory door.

After a while, there was no response.

Monet frowned slightly.

Although Caesar had been holed up in his lab for a while now, he still needed food and water delivered regularly.

This time, however, there wasn't even a response.

Monet then activated the secret mechanism of the laboratory door, and the massive steel door slowly opened.

She cautiously stepped inside, as Caesar was a mad scientist who developed deadly machines, and many things in the lab were highly toxic and lethal.

Sure enough, after walking for two minutes, Monet saw Caesar lying on the floor, his eyes wide open.

"Caesar, what's wrong?" Monet hurried over, concerned.

After all, Caesar was someone Doflamingo deeply valued, and Monet, by extension, also cared for him.

Even though Monet ethereal voice reached him, Caesar hollow gaze remained unchanged.

"What's going on with you?"

Monet checked Caesar pulse and, upon confirming it was still beating, finally breathed a sigh of relief.

After being shaken by Monet for a while, Caesar finally showed some signs of life.

Weakly, he raised his arm and pointed to the nearby experiment table.

Countless drafts and papers were covered in dense handwriting and calculation formulas.

Monet wasn't a scientist, so she could only flip through them with a puzzled expression.

"What's this?" Monet asked, confused.

"I can't crack a single one of Pryce inventions!" Caesar finally spoke.

"It's alright, take your time."

Monet gently helped Caesar up, speaking softly.

"You just don't understand!"

"As a scientist, the frustration of not being able to figure out someone else work is unbearable!" Caesar sighed as he spoke.

"Still, you should take care of your health!"

"Doflamingo has been asking about the recent issues with SAD!" Monet directly informed him.

"Alright, I'll go and oversee things!" Caesar sighed and finally got up.

Seeing Caesar get back to work, Monet also breathed a sigh of relief.

After all, if anything happened to Caesar, Doflamingo would surely blame her!

Just as the production of the artificial Devil Fruit ingredient SAD was getting back on track, Doflamingo received some news.

And this news was about Pryce!

So, very quickly, Doflamingo directly relayed the message to Monet.

...

Caesar stood in front of the massive SAD ingredient tank, watching as the SAD was continuously filled into the container.

At that moment, Monet, having just finished a call with Doflamingo, walked in.

"What's up, Monet?" Caesar asked curiously.

"Doflamingo has sent some news about Pryce. Do you want to hear it?"

Monet cautiously inquired.

After all, Caesar feelings toward Pryce were a mix of admiration and frustration!

Caesar was stunned for a moment, then finally nodded.

Monet then pulled out a stack of documents from behind and handed them to Caesar.

"This is Pryce new invention—the Time Chamber!"

"According to our insider, spending ninety days in this chamber equals to one day in the outside world!"

"Moreover, it has a gravity system that can accelerate training!"

"It's absolutely incredible!" Monet exclaimed in amazement.

"A gravity system? And it can speed up training?"

"Most importantly, it can alter the flow of time inside and outside?" Caesar jaw nearly dropped in shock!

This sounded even more unbelievable than a fairy tale!

Seeing Monet expression and the secretly taken photos in her hand, Caesar immediately realized this was no joke!

Though it sounded impossible, the inventor of this time chamber was none other than Pryce!

Hadn't Pryce already brought him countless moments of astonishment and disbelief?

Thinking of this, Caesar vision darkened, and his body swayed slightly.

Monet, noticing something was wrong with Caesar, quickly supported him.

"I'll be fine after I rest for a bit!" Caesar, now calming down, softly replied.

"You haven't seen the rest yet!" Monet said, her face slightly red.

"What else is there?" Caesar took a deep breath and asked.

Wasn't one such insurmountable "surprise" enough? There was more? How was he supposed to handle this?

"It's this!" Monet pointed to the bottommost document.

"Just read it to me, I can't bear to look!" Caesar clutched his chest in agony.

Monet had no choice but to nod and began reading to Caesar.

After a while, Caesar collapsed to the floor.

"Exploding tags!"

"The Time Chamber!"

"Teleportation seals!"

"Senzu beans!"

"Shurorororororo!"

Caesar was beginning to lose his mind.Monet immediately sensed something was wrong with Caesar and decisively struck the back of Caesar neck with a swift palm strike.

Caesar eyes rolled back, and he fell unconscious on the spot.

Monet sighed and carried Caesar to his room.

"Young master, perhaps it was a mistake to tell him these things!"

Monet dialed Doflamingo number and spoke with a tone of resignation.

"It's fine. He would have found out sooner or later!"
